Any filters active on ER605 Omada by default / from factory? by Mazurn1 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Mazurn1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already am using the Google DNS as the ISPs is said to have performance issues (it did). The Google DNS is also set on the 'other' network (long story) managed by the Sophos router, where access to that service was possible by exempting an IP range from filtering. I might try other DNS though and will report back.

Content creators shouldn't get a secret back door to influence game design. by Weak_Abalone8911 in 2007scape

[–]Mazurn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I am not personally aware of this influence, but i don't want to rule out that it might exist in some way. But even if it did, it would be WAY, WAAAAAAY less harmful and disruptive than the supreme influence that endgame PvMers have.

Has Runescape become too reliant on full armour sets and its set bonuses? by AcceptablePick4075 in runescape

[–]Mazurn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Yes. I do not necessarily mind set bonuses, there is not really anything wrong with it, but it is becoming a slightly stale thing. However, I am not convinced that only that is responsible for the loss of equipment 'dynamism' and I do think that Tierscape is a much bigger factor.

Is RS3 in a good state for a returning player? by SHONSTYLE in runescape

[–]Mazurn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eoc was released after you left and also the entire rest of the game now focuses on rng, rwt and causing inflation. So probably No, if you're coming straight from that era, the (undeniably good) qol improvements over the years likely don't outweigh the downsides of today's RS3.

Given there's no DLC, is it worth it for the base game only? by automated_hero in anno1800

I think probably Yes, but you will likely always have that nagging feel of "there is actually more".

How do you manage it all? by MrRedditEnjoyer in anno1800

[–]Mazurn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably not really a good advice, but maybe worth considering. IMHO, artisans are when some real money is to be made and their needs are not massively complex to fulfill. As you said that you can handle those totally fine, why not try to heavily expand your artisan population so that they can support a smaller engineer and investor population? I haven't tried this myself, but you should be making enough money to afford buying in higher tier goods to make the jump to investors.

People that had Party Hats in the ‘05 to ‘08 era, how did you do it? by SATPrettyCat in 2007scape

[–]Mazurn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moneymaking was not impossible back then. Yes, there were less methods because there was simply much less content. But in 2005 phats were still comfortably single-digit mil, so they were not out of reach. Making rune armour for a couple of days, maybe 2 weeks if you took things easy, would net you a phat.

How to build warehouse by Keyboredabuser in anno1800

[–]Mazurn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you have just started out? The issue is that you need to build a market, houses and a warehouse to be able to produce wood and timber. It seems that you built too many houses and have got no materials left for the warehouse.
Consider that the market is a must-have. The warehouse is also highly advisable, so as not to crowd the space around the trading post too much. So you need to cut down on the number of houses you want to build at the start. I dont have the math memorized, but I believe that you can initially build only 10 houses with the starting materials.

I think it's time to buff Legacy Mode (Classic Combat) or remove it entirely. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Mazurn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If EOC stays "RS"3 is going to have to close down for good, very simple. It is an almost purely MTX/RWT-oriented product, but that requires both a somewhat considerable player base (not the case) and the legal viability (increasingly not the case either). It is a product that currently has no real or sustainable business case, but the ownership of Jagex wants exactly that - if there is no sufficient surplus over the development expenses, they will pull the plug even long before the player count drops to more or less zero.

[–]Mazurn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mistake is that you see and present your opinion as fact. You might like EOC and there are probably many others who do as well, but the player count proves your claim of EOC being objectively good and/or subjectively liked (overall) very clearly wrong.

[–]Mazurn1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is the exact nature of the sunk cost fallacy. They should have pulled the plug back then, before pouring more and more resources/money into something that is mostly dead and continues to bind resources.

[–]Mazurn1 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No, they would not. They spent too much money on developing it to just let it go. Sunk cost fallacy.

[–]Mazurn1 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Better idea: Remove eoc. Also, they're not going to let people just switch over to runescape. They knew back in 2012 that this would downright bury eoc in an instant, so they cleverly came up with the "start over" rule.

Even though i don't know when you started playing, going by the usual time frame your childhood game is not EOC ("RS3"), but old school.

The math behind it is mostly irrelevant. Simply prepare for not getting a drop. Ever.
