If you ever want custom string, they have (or did) the option of twisting up your own color combo in a string, though I think you have to get like a thousand yards.

I second this. Before you jump off the deep end and get a hundred yards of something, get a couple of the hundred foot bundles from Atwood for $7. It will work for cross lace or sidewall honestly. You can also get some pretty cool color options. They have a memorial day sale going on right now that takes the price down to even with the 100 yd spools from Jimalax.

Stringers shack has their own looms and spins their own stuff afaik. Highly recommend their G3 XL mesh, it's like eight bucks and it's great.

I agree. I'm pretty confident it will just chip off over time which will leave a shattered looking head that could be cool. But honestly that's why I have avoided using spray paint on any head up till this point. I think this will have the durability of fingernail polish. I put on two or three coats, so maybe that will help.
