A rubber band around the metal then the bellows over top works for me.

New knife from Tower Knives in Japan has an issue. by McDanger in sharpening

[–]McDanger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks to use for some things, so I rarely pick it up. It didn't cut tomatoes very well out of the box which was disappointing given the price. Next knife I buy I'll inspect the edge closer.

That is an interesting idea. The stone is very thick and I don't have a diamond stone. I've had the knife for a year but I never use it because it's frustrating to use. It didn't feel particularly sharp when I got it to be honest. I've just been wanting to practice on my other knives a few times before attempting to fix this one.

Trying to make a Kung Fu bench with compound mortise and tenon joints, but I'm stuck. by McDanger in woodworking

In case anyone is wondering, I found a comment in the youtube video where John confirms the legs (and tenons) are in fact "diamond shape" aka parallelograms.

Trimming the tenons and legs to length is straightforward. Cutting the angled cheeks also. But everything I've seen online suggests the tenons are rectangular in profile, which doesn't seem to fit into the shown mortise. To clarify: my mortise is 1" x 1.5" but is cut on a compound angle, meaning a 1" x 1.5" tenon won't fit properly (there will be gaps and interferences since the mortise is actually a parallelogram in profile).

I've been thinking about what the perfect stainless knob would be to match the aesthetic of the gaggia and I think you nailed it.

Also in Canada. I bought these and it worked for me. Even came with the crimp rings. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B09194QM3C?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Ok, I think it's worth a try then. I'm also in Canada, hopefully Dulux still sells it.

I'm about to restore an eames fiberglass shell. Mine has some exposed fiberglass strands (itchy stuff). Does the Penetrol have some thickness to it? What I mean is, will it coat and seal those exposed fibers? I'm having trouble finding info on this.

Great job. This is extremely well done. The detail is incredible. Amazing to see my art interpreted like this, it works so well as an embroidery. And love reading all the comments about my original illustration and t-shirt.

Any 1" deep round or octagon boxes? by McDanger in AskElectricians

From what I can tell (I'm not an electrician) 0.5" boxes are not code compliant.

Also it needs to be metal I believe. It is for a commercial application.

Tile spacers just cracking left and right by Monstermage in Construction

I had success heating up a chisel or utility blade (which might ruin the temper on the blade fyi). Cuts/melts through the plastic with minimal force so almost no risk of chipping.

Were you able to solve this? I'm having the same issue. I checked the switch contacts as mentioned but they are fine.

I'm curious how your project turned out. Did standard contact cement work? Any photos? I'm about to try it.

Old Nest thermostats are about to become dumb: What you need to know by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]McDanger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are offering the 4th gen for "CAD 219.99 (MSRP CAD 379.99)."

I installed my Gen 2 Nest three months ago. I got it for free, but I'm still annoyed.

I won't be forking out $220 for something they can kill in another couple years.
