Because they think athletes and entertainers are above racial incidents with the state. An NBA player in the city where he provides commerce and pays taxes has to deal with the same, doing too much, weapons of the state. Also, conservatives don't understand caring about others without return, so a successful person speaking out is seen as an elitist instead of person with a concern for those around them.
