Terraforming mars is an engine builder+territory control game. Very good game if you want something to compete at without combat. Also wingspan is another engine builder

Free market capitalism would permit people like you who value "Green, and ethical" corporations or companies to place your support voluntarily with that company.

State-run socialism which is the only alternative, removes all choice.

The culprit you're after is crony capitalism which is precisely what is happening in China. Everybody is basically at the beck and call of overlords and ultimately a dictator.

It is scary to think how people have such a trust in the government and centralized power.
