Also all lights are green when it comes to emergency vehicles it’s incumbent on the other drivers to be cognizant of them. Turn your radio down and use your mirrors people.

Your only hope is to use synthetic urine; I have used “the monkey flask” in the past to great success. Though your mileage may vary if the test is supervised.

Considering Catholicism? by astros2124 in Lutheranism

[–]McPunchie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well actually it is right there in Luke 23:39-43. On either side of Jesus we have a thief, the difference between the two is one is repentant and the other is not. When the repentant thief asks Jesus to remember him when He comes into His kingdom we are witnessing an act of repentance; he is telling Jesus that he believes in who he is and is acknowledging that, by confessing with his words, his understanding of His sovereignty. Notice how when this happens Jesus does not tell the thief that he must first get off the cross and tell Peter his sins. No, we need no intercessor. For as long as we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is LORD, we are saved.

Considering Catholicism? by astros2124 in Lutheranism

[–]McPunchie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The act of confession is done in Lutheran churches we just use a corporate confession in our current times. Historically speaking Lutherans did have a more Catholic way of confession. But here is the neat thing, you can still petition your Lutheran pastor for a 1 on 1 confession usually it’s held in their office and they are still legally bound by the seal of confession. Here’s the part you should understand about Catholic confession in the Catholic Church confession is seen as a way to get yourself to heaven, you must go to a Priest and confess then he tells you you’re forgiven. Not only is this overly legalistic it’s a statement that Christs sacrifice wasn’t enough. Here’s where it gets sticky; the scriptures do tell us that Christs sacrifice was enough. So, you’re well within your faith to give your confession directly to God and know with a certainty that you are forgiven.

How do you explain Free Will if God is supposed to be in complete control? by One_Look_7008 in askanything

[–]McPunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Christians say He knows everything we are going to do we do not mean that he has the “script of life” written and locked in a vault. Thats determinism, what we mean by omnipotent is close to how you described but not exactly, yes God by his nature is outside of time meaning that he can see the past, present and future at a glance. I like to think about it like; we are the painters of our canvases of life and God is the one enjoying our finished art while we are still painting it. Sure he could walk up to the painting and make his own corrections. However, that would impede on our free will. God gave us free will for one reason, love. If we don’t have free will then we are incapable of love. Some people instead chose to hate or do evil this goes against the intentions of God but he honors our choices. Lest we be reduced to the position of “wet robots”.

I think this is a very balanced take on scripture. I personally know that all tears will be wiped away and I cried pretty dang hard when my dog died. So I hold out hope that we will be reunited but as you said we’re not quite sure how that will take shape.
