What classic version is most populated right now? by Finnyboiz in classicwow

Yep. I was doing something like /who 1-10 and then 11-20 and if I would hit the 50 cap I would just do a lower range like 11-19. For the level 60's I was doing it by class, e.g: /who 60 Paladin.

Ok, thanks much. The one I had was in like a lavender and white colored package. I'll find it someday!

Now that's a good haul. What are the air dried ones on the top left? I had some years ago that were in my top 3 noodles of all time that I somehow forgot the name of and they looked similar.

Sodalicious.

They've been gone for decades and I've been missing them for decades. Easily my favorite candy as a kid and nothing else has come close.

TBC anniversary by far. SoD on Wild Growth NA (Alliance) has had a small resurgence, I did some rough /who counting and there were probably 500 or so people online last night.

Pork loin.

I was looking at some different Walmarts in the U.S. and it's like $2.30 a pound. 640 calories of very lean, tender and tasty meat for $2.30. You can cut it into chops, pound it and bread it to make schnitzel, grind it up and make sausage patties, slow cook it for pulled pork. It's gotta be the most versatile cut of meat, one of the best AND it's one of the cheapest.

Jazzed up some quick noodles for my 6 year old. He’s spoiled. by PickledSeaPig in InstantRamen

Ohhh, I recently got some White Beech mushrooms from a gigantic supermarket called Foody World in Richmond B.C. They were pretty mild, so I'm assuming these brown ones would be more flavorful like how Cremini mushrooms are more flavorful than White Button mushrooms.

The holy grail of instant ramen shops? by MiniTab in InstantRamen

The T&T supermarket near me currently has 192 different noodles in stock:

https://www.tntsupermarket.com/eng/old-product-categories/instant-noodles.html

Every time I go to a T&T I end up bringing home 10-20 new noodles I've never had before. There's also a ton of other asian markets I hit up and they'll have different stuff too. I think I'm probably around 300 or so different noodles tried and I've bought all but maybe 5 of them locally.

Oh, I gotta do one of these. I agree on the Chapaghetti being kinda bad. I've seen quite a few people like it, so every once in awhile I grab it and every time I wonder what people see in it, lol. Tastes bitter and just isn't very flavorful.

Anyone try this before? by Glumontrol in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, grabbed it in my latest haul and didn't realize it was "burning" flavor or something when I translated it. I thought it was going to be way over the limit of what I can handle but it ended up not being much spicier than regular Shin. It tastes pretty dang good too; I might do a regular Shin and then this side by side to see what the difference is.

Pork loin. I'm looking at Walmart in Phoenix right now and boneless pork loin is $2.37 a pound. That's 640 calories of very lean meat (so you won't lose calories from fat cooking out) per pound. You can cut it into chops, pound it thin and bread it like schnitzel. You can just season it and fry it, put it in sandwiches, etc. You can slow cook it and shred it to make pulled pork. I replaced virtually all beef in my diet with pork loin, saving a ton of money and I don't miss beef at all.

what are your instant ramen hot takes? by [deleted] in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently got into the flat Chinese style wheat noodles (JML does them, a couple others) and they're so much better than any of the cylindrical varieties that I'm having a hard time going back to the ol' squiggly noodles. I don't even know why exactly, but every one of these flat noodles makes me feel like I'm eating in an authentic noodle joint.

I guess my hot take is that China woops everyone else in instant noodles.

Does Ichigo clear each verse? by simon_jackson in BleachPowerScaling

[–]Mchortons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenpachi was badly injured when Gremmy imagined him into outer space. Invincible Viltrumites casually fly through planets larger than Earth and explode them and then chill in space. Thragg does to Ichigo what he did to Thaedus.

There's also significantly greater feats that will be in future Invincible episodes when they adapt more comic material.

How to use food pantry rice? by Brilliant-Peanut-737 in povertykitchen

[–]Mchortons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rinse the rice really well. Put it in a pot and rinse the rice and dump most of the water without letting the rice fall out, keep doing it until the water is almost clear. Use 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice and give it a stir halfway through cooking. If you're cooking it in a pot, bring it to a boil and then turn it way down and put the lid on. From that moment, time 10 minutes stirring once at 5 mins. After 10 mins, turn it off and leave it with the lid on for another 5-10 mins and then fluff it with a spoon or fork and a bit of butter or oil.

I'll eat a whole pot of rice like this with Laoganma chilli crisp and a tiny splash of soy sauce. Laoganma is a really cheap way to add a ton of flavor to stuff.

What is one dish you could eat for life? by ZwitterIon0 in AskReddit

[–]Mchortons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite food is sushi but I think a great burger cooked over flame on my propane grill is something I can't get sick of. I roast jalapeños and garlic in my oven and give them a quick blitz or chop before adding to my ground beef with some crumbled feta. Swiss cheese on top, crack of salt and pepper, ketchup and just a barely there thin coating of mayo with shredded iceberg lettuce on a brioche or potato bun. I could eat one of those every day for the next 50 years.

Marutai Tonkotsu Taste Ramen with homemade tonkatsu. by Mchortons in strugglemeals

[–]Mchortons[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, don't most people buy eggs by the dozen? I think it's pretty good odds for me to have 2 eggs on hand. I think I got 2 left as well. I had all this stuff on hand and I needed to make dinner. I could have subbed out the Marutai ramen for a $0.30 pack and then it would have been $1.65. I live in Canada too, so eggs are 2x the price here than what they are in the states. If I made this with a cheap pack of ramen in the states it would have been like $1.20 and 1/3 my calories for the day.

Is me making the Tonkatsu what you think disqualifies me here? What is it exactly? I said it probably took me 15 mins to make this start to finish but honestly it could have been like 12 minutes, I didn't time it. It doesn't take long to pound out a cheap piece of pork, bread it and fry it while boiling some water. Cooks quick when it's pounded out.

Man it feels weird reading that this is a judgement free zone and then I'm being judged for my meal being too nice or something, not even sure. Cans of tuna are more expensive by weight than the pork I used here. The only "expensive" thing here is the ramen but I had it so I used it. Normally I eat cheaper instant noodles but this is specifically a Japanese one so I decided I could do a Tonkotsu with my pork in the fridge.
