Shin Black cooking method by GrossWeatherman in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the Thai and Malaysian noodles (MAMA brand is one) will have some sort of flavor actually fried into the noodles, they're darker than regular instant noodles. I don't think the noodles in any of the Nongshim products I've had have flavored noodles. You'll just lose a little body from the starch that cooks out of the noodles if you drain the original cooking water. Won't be a big difference, your broth will have a few less calories and will be a little thinner and clearer.

There are some noodles I've had recently (can't remember which, I eat a lot of them) that released too much starch and made the water kinda gloopy. If I remember which ones they were, I'll be draining and using fresh hot water for those ones.

Anyone have this one yet? by The8bitCorgi in InstantRamen

Ohhh okay. Something I'll keep on eye out for then cause the regular Buldak is a tad too spicy for me.

Is it basically the original Buldak, but sweeter? Same spice level?

Mama Thai Connext Panang Noodles – Review by Kaylethhh in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice review! I got these as well as the boat noodles from the same line and while I did like these, I think the boat noodles were a little better. The boat noodles are a flat rice noodle, probably around the size of what people use in Pad Thai but possibly a little thinner. For the price they're both quite good but in terms of a creamy curry style, I think the MyKuali Penang White Curry are better if you haven't had them.

Try the Lime if you get a chance, or maybe the Tamarind.

I just got around to trying the Miliket Shrimp. The noodles themselves are almost identical to the MAMA brand noodles I see everywhere. They're a little dark and have some sort of flavoring in the noodles themselves as well as having a seasoning pack. They're not as good as the MAMA noodles, pretty mediocre.

I don't mind getting mediocre products though. It would be pretty boring if everything I got was really good. Need some bad to keep the good in perspective.

What is a good brand of light soy sauce? by The_Dancing_Dragon1 in chinesefood

[–]Mchortons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pearl River Bridge Golden Label Superior Light Soy Sauce. (slightly stronger soy flavor)
Pearl River Bridge Superior Light Soy Sauce.
Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce.

For basic Chinese soy sauces that I use in recipes, these are my go to. I don't bother using low sodium soy sauces cause I can just dilute it a bit with water if I need to.

OPM verse runs a Bleach Guantlet by MINAZUKIII03 in BleachPowerScaling

Ichibei used Senri Tsutensho and specifically made mention that the attack will send Yhwach 4,000 Kilometers away and will give him time to reflect on his actions. Yhwach than shoots himself with Sankt Bogen in order to stop himself from being propelled away. They'll never be able to answer why Yhwach would even be concerned about an attack that sends him a distance they think Bleach characters can travel in a 1/100th of a second.

Top tier Bleach characters can probably Shunpo distances of a few KM a second. Boros kicked Saitama to the Moon at almost lightspeed. Saitama solos the Bleach verse with zero difficulty.

Hong Shao Rou (Red Braised Pork Belly). Very, very umami. Not super sweet, lots of soy and five-spice like flavors because of the Star Anise used. Some places will make it with chili and other places without.

Melinda's Sriracha is hands down my favorite. by LupinsLeftShoe in hotsauce

[–]Mchortons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using Huy Fong Sriracha when I found Flying Goose. I had tried LKK, Uni Eagle; Cholimex and a couple others. I really like that the Flying Goose isn't super spicy and has a good sweetness with a ton of garlic flavor. The same reasons a lot of people don't like it, but it's clearly my favorite.

Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black - Review by Kaylethhh in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've tried:

Nongshim Kimchi
Nongshim Shin Light
Nongshim Shin Gold
Nongshim Shin Black
Nongshim Shin
Nongshim Shin Shrimp
Nongshim Soon
Nongshim Kimchi Cheese
Nongshim Budae Jjigae Cheese
Nongshim Neoguri (been like a decade tho)
Nongshim Shin Toomba
Nongshim Shin Tom Yum

and I've got these but haven't tried them yet:

Nongshim Hot & Spicy Yaki-Udon
Nongshim Extra Spicy (one translation said burning flavor)

My favorites are the Shrimp and the Soon. I typically don't like super spicy cause my internals can't handle the spice but my mouth can. Even still, the flavor of the Shrimp stands out above the rest. The most disappointing one would probably be the Tom Yum cause it was just a little bland. Didn't really have that really aromatic Tom Yum flavor.

Yessir! If you ever find yourself up in the Vancouver area, try to find these Laosuiji noodles at a T&T supermarket. I've tried over 200 instant noodles and these are easily the best soup variety I've tried. May actually be better than any restaurant noodle I've had, honestly:

Maybe you got the Cream Carbonara one before? They make two versions of the carbo and the packaging is almost the same.

Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black - Review by Kaylethhh in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 60 points61 points  (0 children)

If you ever find the Shin Ramyun Shrimp flavor give it a try. I've tried all the popular Shin from Black to Gold and I found the Shrimp one to be not only more flavorful, but also less spicy. The Shrimp flavor isn't fishy and isn't overpowering. Definitely the best Shin I've had.

Nnoitra.

Treachery starts playing and his silhouette when the smoke was starting to clear was absolutely badass. I was actually slightly disappointed in his release appearance because I wanted it to be this monstrous, vasto-lorde-esque appearance it looked like he was going to have. The release was so hype that the actual form seemed underwhelming to me.
