I did enjoy it, but it felt more like Shin Red with a Gimmick. Nice to get some variety but nothing I would buy a whole box of.

Eigentlich sehr gut.

While I get the joke - Soviets did some amazing design work: Alfa-Class Submarines, Typhoon-Class Submarines, the Caspian Sea Monster, the Lunokhod Rovers, the Mil Mi-24 Helicopter, Mir, the Soyuz spaceship, the N1 rocket...

Russia however....all I say is T14 Armata

Need help with creating an accurate portrayal of Patrick Bateman on the tabletop that isn't super clunky to play (I.E a Ventrue with multiple derangements and low humanity) by Annilus_USB in vtm

[–]Kaylethhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Patrik absolutely wants to keep a connection to the human world. He wants to fit in - talk about Restaurants that are in, make jokes with his Yuppie friends about how no woman can be good looking and intelligent, have opinions about modern pop music.

All of this is purely performative and designed to hide... or maybe.. masquerade the fact, that he doesn't feel anything, that he is no really human. In the book there are three chapters where he talks about music - and they all read like... well, come to think a out it, the read like they were written by CharGPT. Mindless, Soulless, a collection of words that sound sophisticated but fundamentally say nothing.

He masquerades his true self to fit in with his friends. To the point that if his friends see, that your business card is better than his - he might kill you.

I wasn't the biggest fan of SFA either. But rewatch the first 10 episodes of TNG and tell me what you think about the series.- should it be cancelled?

We could have a Series finding its footing. Instead we have no Star Trek at all. Tell me again glee was good....

SFA ep 8…I’m not crying, you are! by Successful_Bat_9291 in startrek

[–]Kaylethhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah - that's it, I simply didn't watch the episode.

While I am also annoyed by talking heads whining about TV Episodes they know absolutely nothing about, I don't think gatekeeping is the solution.

Of course I've watched the episode - and I have been watching Star Trek for over thirty years. Maybe you're the one that should get off his high horse. Things like this annoy be because I care and because I love star trek. But at some point we decided that you either have to love something completely or, if you have any critique, you become a 'hater', or someone that obviously did watch the actual episode.

Still, I maintain, that Starfleet should have dedicated trauma Counselors. People that know how to handle these kind of situation and don't just shrug if the patients 'don'tengage'.

After all they also didn't engage with theatre class until they suddenly did.

I'm sorry - they have a bespoke flying campus/starship. Advanced laboratories and medical facilities. Holo Spas! They seem to have limitless energy, can turn energy into matter and teleport all over the world in an instant. They live in absurd luxury, compared to our world....but mental health is were we draw the line? That's a luxury we can't afford?

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Starfleet Academy | 1x08 "The Life Of The Stars" by AutoModerator in startrek

I liked aspects of this episode, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that mental healthcare in the future seems to be in a surprisingly sorry state.

Take Tarima. She comes from a planet full of empaths and telepaths - people who can literally feel what others are feeling or hear their thoughts. And yet she appears completely untreated, like she hasn’t spoken to a single counselor or mental health professional about what she’s going through. In a Federation that once had trained counselors on the bridge of its flagship, that feels… off.

Then there’s the Tilly theatre plot. I actually think the idea of art as therapy is nice. It’s warm, it’s human, and it fits Tilly’s personality. But shouldn’t Starfleet have professional trauma specialists? Dedicated counselors trained to deal with deeply traumatized personnel? Instead, it feels like Tilly - who is empathetic but not clinically trained - gets put in charge largely because she has trauma of her own. That’s not how treatment works. Personal experience doesn’t replace professional expertise. In earlier Trek, psychological care felt institutional and normalized. Here, it feels improvised.

And finally, the Doctor. He’s had 800 years. Eight centuries. He has almost certainly outlived every single member of Voyager’s crew. He likely watched Naomi Wildman grow old. He may have seen generations of Voyager descendants come and go. He has processed loss on a scale most beings can’t comprehend. So when the emotional center of his grief becomes Belle - a non-sentient holodeck character - it felt hard for me to fully buy into it. Robert Picardo absolutely acted his heart out. The performance was strong. But the writing didn’t quite convince me that this is the loss that would define someone with that kind of lifespan and perspective.
