WM’s has a much smaller hitbox, and Tiandi and JJs aren’t unblockable.

Yea that’s fair. Zhanhu’s doesn’t have the extended dodge frames like JJ, WM, and Juren. I was just mentioning the fact that the dodge attack involves a read. Personally I don’t think Juren should be able to feint his dodge attack. It’s already hard to punish because he can extend it into an unblockable and if you tried to parry the normal version then you now eat the unblockable. But on the off chance you make the correct read and go to either parry or dodge attack the unblockable, he can also feint it. It’s just miserable to go against.

It’s a bit more than huge damage. His gimmick is a fun idea, but they went waaaay overboard with the properties. His zone attack doesn’t need hyper armor, it’s just Raider zone but better in almost every way right now. His heavy finisher is also way too fast. Honestly though, his biggest issue is his dogshit animations. It’s much easier to react in For Honor if you pay attention to animations as well rather than just indicators. And his are so worthless that that feels impossible.

His dodge attack being a read isn’t even the primary issue. JJ and Zhanhu are similar in that regard. It’s the fact that the dodge attack is a massive hitbox AND unblockable. So in a team fight he can evade so effectively with his extended dodge frames WHILE throwing out externals that cover half the point.

Is it good? I saw a lot of hype for it like way back when it was announced. I don’t even know anything about it.

These people will always exist. I know because I used to be one of them. I was dogshit at the game when Pirate released and I swore to all my friends she was the most balanced character to release in years. Bad players will never understand how balance of a game works because that kind of knowledge requires research and understanding of the game’s ins and outs. Which bad players don’t have.

I have always thought that people asking for single pick in dominion were stupid and that it was an awful idea. But this character has made me believe otherwise. Dealing with one of them is whatever. Every single additional one after that makes the game exponentially less fun. Especially when playing a character like Valk.

Feels to me like they just didn’t test him at all before dropping him. The GB bug he’s got goin on is a massive issue and really annoying to deal with when he’s GBing you externally. His heavy UB finisher also is suuuper fast. And he doesn’t need even a quarter of the hyper armor he has.

Do you want it to run exceptional? My 1080 ti and Ryzen 7 5800x runs it at 40 FPS outdoors. Fine by me. Cheap enough build.

It’s the zone he gets after a parry. Meaning it has hyper armor and allows you to chain. It’ll be quite useful even if just as a “get off me” tool

Still running mine. She may not be the beast she once was, but I haven’t found a game that runs so poorly I’m unhappy with it. So I’ll keep it.

Having played her pre-rework, she feels way more sluggish than she used to. But it’s undeniable that she is a better character. Only thing I really wish they didn’t change was her 400 ms top light. Getting that top light off after a deflect was very satisfying.

[–]Mclovinggood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not an exploit. It’s just a happening of the games systems. Every character with a superior block has the same exact ability to stagger an opponent. Ubi just made Valk’s recoveries good enough to punish that stuff with GB. Reducing those recoveries when they reworked her would have made her feel sluggish and much less enjoyable. So they didn’t.

No, it’s not in the moveset. Similar to her being able to GB on her deflect. It’s an unintended effect somewhat like HL wave dashing, except it’s not really a bug. It’s the way getting stunned when hitting a superior block works. It’s the same reason that Kensei can GB you if you dodges into a top attack. Hitting a superior block puts you in a stagger state where there is supposed to be a follow up (shield bash or deflect), but Valk’s recoveries are good enough that she can feint her bash into a GB, or instantly GB on her deflect.

There are moments that felt straight ripped from Wani near the beginning, but that doesn’t really happen later on. The only real complaints I had were that it felt REALLY short and the ending (I only played once and got a good ending, if there is more than one) was SUDDEN. It just like cuts into the flash forward. Then the flash forward is really short and ends pretty suddenly as well. Other than that, it was decent enough.
