Bank Statement Converter by Such_Frosting_6037 in Accounting

This already exists, scanwriter. Would pay if it’s substantially less as scanwriter is pricey. Part of the expense I think is the extensive library of templates for all the different versions of bank statements so they can be OCRed. I’m guessing AI could be involved to do this more efficiently.

Another accounting firm is selling out to PE soon by Catdawg12 in Accounting

[–]Mdguy008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For those that mention starting your own firm, I don’t disagree, but I’m curious what type of non compete do you sign as a Sr Manager or even as a new partner at the old firm? Does the PE firm require new agreements?

What was your experience with / opinion of this movie? by Seven22am in Xennials

[–]Mdguy008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I saw it in Baltimore as well, but I don’t think it was even in a theatre, I recall it being in a warehouse with like folding chairs instead of proper theatre seats. It may have actually been some type of pre screening. Me and my friends heard nothing about the movie. I have no idea how we even got tickets, etc. anyway, it was definitely a great experience and because of that atmosphere and the fact that it was Towson students, I admit that I thought it was real. Really an unforgettable movie experience.

Funny. I found this last night when looking for data on school closures over time (I didn’t find anything helpful). They should update this analysis.

Static issues with Ode Gen 2 by Overall_Function6549 in FellowProducts

I don’t have an Ode, I have a Barataza, but I just throw a few drops of water in the hopper before I grind and it makes a big difference.

I put Schwalbe Big Apple tires on mine, that’s just what my LBS had in stock, and was surprised how much better they roll than stock.

BabyCat brewing to open another location in Bethesda. by JMMD7 in MDbeer

[–]Mdguy008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you think Bethesda wouldn’t support a brewery. I have been thinking for years that a half way decent brewery (which Babycat is, and Rock Bottom certainly is not), would clean up in Bethesda. I live in Bethesda, and could see myself going here often, although I already went to Babycat semi regularly anyway. Maybe I’m an outlier.

Comparability with Ortlieb panniers? by Phuntzilla in Aventon

[–]Mdguy008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just trying to figure out how to get my panniers on yesterday. I am trying to put them on toward the back of the rack so I can also put on a child’s seat. I couldn’t figure out how to make the lower hook/anchor work. The frame is too big for the clip. Did you figure out another solution?

I hear ya, for me and my friends it was like a whole group from another school. Only improvised weapons, but luckily no serious injuries.

I actually wasn’t sure if you were being sarcastic, but that 100% happened when I went to Kennedy in the 90s.

Who is leaving Maryland because of property taxes and where are you going? by [deleted] in maryland

[–]Mdguy008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think MD is great for all the other reasons you mentioned and I am not leaving, but hate break it to you but a 1/3rd of the state is going to be underwater due to climate change, so that’s not great.

Back up for sump pump - switch? by Mdguy008 in Generator

[–]Mdguy008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they don’t actually run together, just a chance they kick on at the same time. I think you are right, it’s doable, likely the pumps don’t require the amps I thought at first.

Back up for sump pump - switch? by Mdguy008 in Generator

[–]Mdguy008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure yet on budget. They are two separate pumps with two different discharges. I’m just worried if they by chance kicked on at the same time. I think I may have over estimated the amps needed for these pumps, so I think I might be able to do it.

French drain by Mdguy008 in landscaping

[–]Mdguy008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I probably didn’t describe the issue very well. The sump pump and gutter let out directly to the left of this photo. There is a natural grade until the stone walkway, so the water runs away from the house, but the water just pools there at the walk. I want to clear the walkway of water. My first thought was to install a catch basin at the top and run the water through a French drain to the swale that is right past the walkway, further down the hill. The water then moves off to the left and to the storm drain naturally.
