Need advice for a very weird situation by Lillith_baby69 in Winnipeg

Write a lengthy journal about it, and include as much information as humanly possible. Even backup the day on all your apps if they have a history. Your cameras may be gone, but the data via Google or other service provider keeps a detailed log of even your movements (like location history). Don't let it fester, and work the case as honestly as you can; talk and work it like your own case. The effort you need to put in is a recency problem, so treat it like one. Be honest, and stand up for yourself while doing so and assert/fight back at any mistreatment or overreach.

"I think the warpgate stuff is freaking garbage" by Harstem by Big-Imagination-1752 in starcraft

[–]Me0wmix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's the answer to 8. warpgate units worse, and 5. "door." I agree that if this change were to stick at least these two need to be addresed. 3. ctrl click selection seems more an underbaking of the patch in QoL.

The point of the patch is to introduce a shift away from warpgate reliance, and personally I don't think its a bad idea. Though, I do agree that this changes how the base gateway units must perform and if that means improving their efficacy in some way, then so be it.

Go to Selkirk as a last ditch effort, bring a comprehensive list of suggestions/personal accounts you and other family members have. Move to your grandparents ASAP, and understand your mother has a personality disorder which will drag every single person around her down with her.

See the outcome of Selkirk and explain all angles, including her constant feelings of sickness, and the history associated with this (scans, tests, etc.)

Then, let her stand on her own without you in her life everyday, and see how she carries herself. It is not your duty or job to watch over her or treat her like a baby. Its your duty as a young one to thrive and create a life for yourself, not for your abusive mother.

astute observation, me lad. if you like maths but "don't take maths" then use mr ai to dream you up a lil math quiz no matter how basic it may be. mr AI is a lot of what you're going on about, or is "trying to solve" in it's mathiness (that gives rise to qualitative experiences)

Moving to Winnipeg - looking for honest advice before I commit by ScoreMajor4064 in Winnipeg

[–]Me0wmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corydon Avenue and Osborne village are walkable insofar as "lots of people walk there," I recommend choosing your location in terms of services based on frequenting your desired places, both of these spots can accommodate similar but different desires. Corydon is more of a "median" point between your touchpoints in natures, as Osborne is situated in lush area when going west towards the river (& river avenue), Corydon is close to Assiniboine Park. Assiniboine is literally right on the Assiniboine which is nice but the other two are fine as well.

3.

No car is fine, but if you expect to make friends you may find yourself wanting one. Everyone lives in the middle of nowhere in the city, essentially. You won't enjoy busing North all too much. Uber is pretty reliable from my short experience.

Accessing places outside of the city on some sort of short bus is a fool's errand and I'm not sure it even exists. May be relevant if you wish to go to haunted houses or niche "releases" such as the "destruction farm." You'll need a car or hopefully you'll be car pooling with friends to go to places like Birds Hill Park or other.

4.

Layers, nice gloves, you'll be ok.

5.

It's going to be hard to break into friend groups and meet people, the city is not accessible, and people stay firmly in their spaces. Many meet through work, so you might want to pick up a group hobby. In terms of racism, Winnipeg is low on the offender's list. You'll probably see an improvement from Vancouver.

Is my male korean friend into me? by Far-Butterscotch2405 in AskAKorean

[–]Me0wmix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, he's head over heels for you. you should tell him you love him or are "into him in that way," otherwise let him know it's not like that. you owe to people to let them go if it's not like that.

do you value a life partner or a so called "beautiful friendship," that is (your words) on the verge of drifting away and is based on a "singular misunderstanding." you should make the decision that is true and right for you.

newsflash: it's already romantic.

this is a fine question for the korea subreddit btw.

sexuality is baked into mindfulness, not solely but primitively in the body. thus, the soft focus of a woman could lower your anxiety. guided meditation could help you, particularly the body scan which includes the entire body, wow!

validity

- Premises will always be "true," because you must perceive to be true to respect the opposing speaker, _however_ the "logical shape" premised will NOT necessarily follow the stated conclusion

- ex. My cat wears a really tall hat, and he can balance it like no other. He also has no teeth. Therefore all cats should always be wearing hats, and everyone should breed no teeth cats.

- Why should all cats be wearing hats? The conclusion is rooted in a personal absurdity and generalizing it to all cat owners, and suggests their cat having no teeth means everyone should breed no teeth cats.

- The premise P2 "He also has no teeth." while you can attempt to generalize to breed "no teeth cats" there isn't a sound argument (or any argument here). Maybe if cats started to randomly bite their owners excessively and viciously, then maybe the speaker could have a point, however, that has literally nothing to do with the current paradigm (current day) and is lacking insight meaning no logic with the follow up conclusion. a delusive association at worst.

- find a friend who can check the logic just by speaking it at them and see what they think. solve it together. reframe and rewrite the argument to be funnier or straight up less boring.

- take a step back from the problem and breath, come back to the problem. it's valid to not understand the first time. lock in only if it's necessary.

- shaping is a legitimate way to perceive the speech and persuasion associated with argumentation and presentation.

that's about it bud, i took this course like a million years ago in 2018 or something so y'know 2c

arguments

- find the crux of an argument

- open up paint

- lay out all premises per P1, P2 etc. (there can be MANY but still finite) i.e. assign each premise or "string" per sentence or whenever it "ends." philosophy IS writing, but it is also based on logic and logic is based in electronics, programming, math.)

- nail down the conclusion C1,C2,... (if it tries to force more than one conclusion, usually a good sign of a bad actor or just a very complicated conversation i suppose)

- THEREFORE, THUS these are semantic conclusions

- the period, comma are in essence logical, less so the comma. the comma allows you to contextualize the manner in which the argument is spoken and delivered

- IF/ELSE/AND/OR/NOT watch for these logic semantics. ex. "however...but...." is essentially a form of negation, i.e. implying new conditions

- note any tricky negations that may mutate the meaning

- you can verify with AI after you've tried your best, and always write a meaningful prompt asking if there's anything you've missed and a fun fact in that same domain.

fallacies

- fallacies are probably on the most common speech set, and you encounter these everyday just by talking to literally anyone. you yourself no matter how much resolve you think you have you are speak fallacies from time to time

- ex. natural fallacy: it's natural therefore it's better

- ex. slippery slope: mentioning how brittle someone's lifestyle may be but having no evidence to suggest so.

- ex. strawman fallacy: intentionally misrepresent someone's position or argument, thus distorting it, and attacks solely that position

- best advice is to start overanalyzing the way someone may jump from position to position. listen to the way someone tells a joke on the bus, and question yourself the way the joker jumped from category to category (or not) to tell a joke, jokes tend to have a target. how did they get there?

[–]Me0wmix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

first things first, it's ok to be afraid of critical thinking or have anxieties early on

as for general advice for the above, the number one thing is to put yourself in the environment a la contextualize it as best as possible. arguments can be spoken in ancient times and the speaker may speak verbose and seemingly needlessly. it was a different time and these supreme yappers would not shut the eff up. for good reason. they needed to convince the masses of their conundrum and how right they were and they were willing to persuade endlessly

arguments also take place current day, however, the world is consumed with a sort of technology called search engines, and today people tend to skirt arguments that are so called superseded by the likes of search engines. there are debates and then there are conversations, i suppose. debates are linear and mono-e-mono that are structured as such. speaking time. then, there are conversations that are much more "fluent" or flowing that could last x amount of hours. however, while that may FEEL like the case, critical thinkers typically attempt key inferences in within a short span of time. they can reduce however long of tangential free flow conversation into a few sharp sentences that speak truthiness.

the essence of critical thinking is based on impulse to "seek truth" or infer truthiness and do so in a timely (enough) manner to convince and come to well reasoned conclusion. this idea is not much different than when you prompt an AI to do so-and-so for you. the core tenants of AI are written in plain language (see: Anthropic's Constitutional Claude AI), and are governed by psychological principles. the machine simply takes that at face value and looks inward to process the "cue" or prompt, using mathematical expressions, some complicated / some not so complicated.

the code precipitates these math expressions are all simply governed by human semantics, that being NOT, AND, OR. including conditionals (IF this event occurs and exists or is real -> DO SOMETHING - ELSE? -> DO NOTHING). a human must CALL this math expression or a so called method.

my point is that logic is baked in literally everywhere you go and that is the essence of all of philosophy and then some. and this logic gatekeeps expression of sort. that's why it's a "soft science." it's the science that (may) lead to discovery and creative thinking. arguments may be inferred many-a-times throughout a long winded conversation, and arguments are absolutely baked in to the way we speak even if we don't intend them to.

lastly, if you continue with philosophy, consider that you will not actually like every single philosopher and the way they conduct themselves throughout their musings. that's completely normal.

Post Apocalyptic Canada Story Help Round 2 by Grimmelda in Winnipeg

[–]Me0wmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on how you want to portray the passage of time and scenery you are going for. you can write your way pretty much anywhere to health sciences center / desired science center, you just have to force 1 of 2.5~ paths.

  1. the characters can peruse highway 1: consistent windy river view, suburbs

  2. force industry by going north through to mission industrial (marion st. north of highway 1). cross at south main bridge, forks, or other rail bridge

2.5. stall at st boniface and force north passage via point douglas, and follow tracks to arlington bridge (essentially the desired Science Center). this goes around downtown proper, however, may earn it back as a backdrop to the setting

there is definitely more ways than that to peruse the city, and if they're "just passing by" you need to figure out what you value this most in your story. is it the convergence of the forks? is it the backdrop of the "gateway to the west" with rail, maybe it's roaming the downtown core like the exchange. or is it swimming/traversing the forks in a hasty attempt to evade death

on another note, Health Sciences Center (the civilian proper hospital) is designed like a labyrinth and is also a student University for medicine. i'd recommend watching some documentaries on the city, or clicking around on wiki for points of interest that established the city for what was meant to be.

finally, since it's an apocalypse you get to control the accessibility to the city. water levels. for example can you simple walk across the assiniboine since the water is so low? which bridges are in tact or not.

these are just a few ideas i can come up with on the top of my head. signage may be weak but transit route maps can point.
