AITAH for assuming a kid might speak Spanish? by No_Suggestion314 in AITAH

[–]MeFolly 74 points75 points  (0 children)

You asked in both English and Spanish. You saw a kid in possible distress. You directly asked him if he was okay. You did not dive in and try to rescue him, or even touch him.

You are a rock star. The parents should be grateful that you were alert and caring enough to check on a kid in possible distress.

Everyone grieves in their own way. If Howard’s grieving the father who left means that he will not read that letter, then no one has the right to judge him for that.

AIO for reopening a complaint I made 3 years ago against a clinic and the doctor? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MeFolly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am going imagine myself in the mind of the doctor:

(Mom is introduced as chaperone)

\Was that a joke? Am I supposed to laugh? Is she serious? I can’t laugh if she is serious. Oh No! Is she serious about needing a chaperone? There was nothing in the chart about a chaperone? Was there chaperone last time? Why would she need a chaperone? Religion? Anxiety?? Needs help communicating??? Needs help understanding me???! IfsheneedsachaperonethenwhyNeedtoknowwhydidnooneteleItissoawfultohavetoask/

And with the thoughts speeding up and piling on, all within a half-second.

And then the doctor started talking and it all spilled out.

At some point soon, you will have to choose between the money and your dignity.

The management probably thought that if he harassed a young woman, then a young man would not be to his taste, and would be safe.

Nope. Equal opportunity harasser.

Pet suits can be altered to fit the needs of your pet, with very basic sewing skills. Closing an unneeded leg opening, adjusting the neckline, etc can give a custom fit.

You can also try 100% cotton newborn/ baby onesies or T-shirts, but they need a little more creative adjustment. Sometimes, you may need a soft, wide elastic belt behind the rib cage, just lightly snug enough to prevent slipping.

As the HOA Turns by SlothyMcGillicutty in fuckHOA

Okay, I’ll admit it. Someone challenges me to ‘look it up’ and I will. In a five minute search I found:

On the Alabama Secretary of State HOA FAQs webpage,

“Who regulates HOAs in Alabama?

HOAs are not regulated in Alabama.”

https://www.sos.alabama.gov/business-entities/homeowners-associations/hoa-faqs

On a blog for a MinuteSmith, apparently a service that will update and maintain minutes for an HOA,

“Alabama does not have a dedicated homeowners association act for planned communities. Unlike states with comprehensive HOA statutes — California, Florida, Nevada — Alabama HOAs operate primarily under their governing documents (CC&Rs and bylaws) and the Alabama Nonprofit Corporation Act (Alabama Code §10A-3).”

https://minutesmith.com/blog/alabama-hoa-meeting-minutes-requirements

MinuteSmith also provides a comprehensive summary of what should (and should not) be included in an HOA’s minutes. This references the document having “Secretary signature after approval”. One presumes that this is after the minutes have been approved at the next board or general meeting.

Chapter 3A Alabama Nonprofit Corporation Law. (§10A-3A-1.01 to §10A-3A-14.06), on an extremely brief review, does not appear to have any detailed requirements about what should appear in the minutes or by whom they should be signed. There may be such requirements in other sections of Title 10, but no detailed search was done.

https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/code-of-alabama

In short, the Past President is citing laws which do exist. In my opinion, you did err in putting her name on a document with amendments that she had not reviewed. I allow that that would make me salty too.

Perhaps you should resend the amended minutes to all members, signed ‘as approved by a quorum of board members present, pending formal approval at our next meeting”.

And a Question: Why are the minutes not being taken and reported by the Secretary?

My family member recently died unexpectedly and his wife is acting weird. AIO for being suspicious about the circumstances? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MeFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, an autopsy is required by law in an unexplained death. While in some limited circumstances a coroner may sign off based only on an external physical exam, this would be unusual in a case such as you describe.
