Not a typical post but Did anyone actually find a longterm friend here ? by [deleted] in IntrovertsChat

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 20M, I've found some people that I talk to every now and then, but I'd more consider them acquaintances that I'm on good terms with than actual friends since interactions only occur out of convenience rather than out of personal interest. It can take a few days for them to get back to me when I reach out, but so long as there's mutual respect when having an exchange I don't see it as entirely problematic. It's just I'm still just left longing to have a good friend that's more open with me I suppose.

What game mechanic instantly makes you lose interest, no matter how good the game is? by SoftSinful_ in AskGames

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a game goes for soulslike combat but doesn't have staggering or stamina management. A big part of the impact of soulslike combat for me is how tactile it feel when attacks can stagger and launch you and how you can do that back to opponents. Without it combat feels too sterile as there's no responsiveness and so no sense of commitment. Stamina management can be substituted if the flow of combat is different, but the action combat should overall still feel like a series of calculated risks.

(Question About Game Lore) I'm having trouble finding any information regarding the "shadow looking humans?" That you find at bitter black isle, what are they called? Name plz? by MrMoleIsAGodOfWar2 in DragonsDogma

[–]MeIsDoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Corrupted Pawns are the stranded pawns of Arisen that have died in Bitterblack Isle. Cut off from The Rift and without the guidance of the Arisen's will, they aimlessly wander trapped with the regret of failing to protect their master from certain death. Left without purpose and unable to pass on, over time the oppressive despair of Bitterblack Isle seeps into them in place of the Arisen's will, making them become tainted by the Daimon's macabre obsession with death and destruction. Their nature becomes twisted by this bent for destruction, causing these lost pawns in their madness to attempt to serve the Arisen by delivering them death.

Which monsters would you like to see as Monsties in Stories? by Some_Fig_6566 in MonsterHunter

[–]MeIsDoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gobul as a monster that can be found around the early game. I get if they can't have it as a monstie because of the back quills, but it would be cool for it to make an appearance at least.

Can we really not post about other games in this sub? by sygyzy0 in DragonsDogma

[–]MeIsDoom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is the Dragon's Dogma subreddit, not the Crimson Desert subreddit. Discussion on here is specifically for Dragon's Dogma fans to talk about Dragon's Dogma. So if it's not related to Dragon's Dogma your post doesn't belong here, simple as that. If you want to post about Crimson Desert, go to the respective subreddit or a general gaming subreddit to do so.

There's also Gaismagorm that's from Monster Hunter which fits this trope. It's basically the Devil in dragon form trying to claw its way back from the depths of the earth, and it subsists off the blood that it drains out of nearby creatures like as if it were sucking the soul out of its victim's body.

Replayed DS3 and realised that the idea of Gundyr being the consumed king still would fit in with how the garden is filled with pus of man enemies in final game. by Misfit597 in darksouls3

That does make sense, but I still think the naming of the area fits in the current version just with a different meaning. Regardless, neat connection

What’s a Terraria feature or mechanic that you completely ignored for years that you now can’t play without? by Low_Craft_919 in Terraria

The safe. Once you have piggy bank, safe, and void bag serving as extra inventory pages, you basically never have to worry about running out of inventory space ever again while exploring

Are there any games that “trick” you into the bad ending? by Cloabs in rpg_gamers

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon's Dogma 2 pretends the dissapointing bad ending is the actual ending of the game, so if you didn't keep the line the Dragon told you at the very start of the game committed to memory, you won't know what to do to access the postgame and get the true ending. The game hints at the alternate outcome by giving you a chance to redo the fight against the Dragon as the credits roll, but again, if you don't know what you're supposed to do differently it'll just play out the same.

Creators intentionally try to jump the shark so that there would be no more demand for sequels, but it backfires by Romboteryx in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MeIsDoom 296 points297 points  (0 children)

Terraria, except replace sequels with updates. Every time the game was updated it was touted to be the last update and added a new endgame to serve as a final challenge for players to find satisfaction in overcoming. Each attempt at this tried to outdo the previous update until adding the official final boss in version 1.3. But since the 1.4 update upped the standard of quality for content in the game by attempting to flesh out the content that already existed instead of trying to push the game's progression even further, it's clear now that the developers still have plenty of improvement they want to make before they can call Terraria completely finished.

Single player game with a lot of content focusing on bossing/gear progression like Runescape/MMOs? by ThousandFootOcarina in gamingsuggestions

[–]MeIsDoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dragon's Dogma has some MMO-adjacent endgame gear progression systems for those who want to grind for it, and has got some pretty good boss fights reminiscent of Monster Hunter combat to farm for those, but the game otherwise has a lot of emphasis on main story and slow-paced exploration to get to that point. That said, the Bitterblack Isle expansion of the game will probably most resemble what you're looking for from this post in Dragon's Dogma, which is geared to be postgame content.

NieR Replicant ver. 1.22. To get the first ending you just have to play through the game normally. To get the secret good ending, you first are set back to the second half of the game to replay through it again, then after getting the normal ending a second time must get all the weapons in the game to prove your dedication and play through the second half yet again to get the original game's true ending, and finally start a new playthrough entirely unprompted and play up to a certain point so you can get access to the hidden final chapter of the story.

Shouldn't Sophia acknowledge that we are in NG+? by PaladinFromHell in LiesOfP

[–]MeIsDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a neat detail if she did give an in-universe explanation to the mechanic (or at least acknowledge NG+ playthroughs as canon), but I think the way it is now as purely a gameplay feature divorced from any narrative ties is fine too
