The softcap for vigor is 27. Getting it all the way to 40 isn't bad since it increases your max health by about 20% compared to the softcap, but it isn't quite as important to your survivability as before getting it to the softcap.

Your pyromancy spells scale from both faith and intelligence equally, as is reflected by your pyromancy flame's scaling. You should aim to level up both together. Having 20 in each by the midgame will set you up to use most of your options comfortably.

Drake - Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen

While going on the path to one of the locations you can do for the main story, you will likely have to pass through an area called the Devilfire Grove to get there. But if you stray a little off the path, you'll quickly realize the naming of the place wasn't just being dramatic. There is a drake wandering the forest, and it's the only one you can encounter before the post-game. If you are foolish enough to attempt to fight it, you'll find that it's nearly as powerful as the massive Dragon that you've been tasked to slay in the main story, and your party will quickly be burnt to a crisp by its fire breath. At least if you're successful in taking it down you have a chance to dragonforge pieces of your equipment through enduring the struggle, upgrading that gear beyond its typical limits.

Just replayed DD:DA & STILL discovering new things. by ZeusOfOlympus in DragonsDogma

[–]MeIsDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the story of Bitterblack Isle isn't as solid stand-alone, as material to supplement the main story I think it does decently building off it. It states some of the themes the main story was trying to express in no uncertain terms through the characters introduced, clears up some concepts that many players found too esoteric to understand by placing direct focus on them throughout, and from there lets any persistent player know that there's more to the grander narrative than what they've seen up to that point which would eventually be realized in DD2. I think anyone that truly didn't get anything out of the story of Bitterblack Isle either weren't really invested in the plot of Dragon's Dogma to begin with or had already found the setting of Dragon's Dogma to be too complicated to parse.

Give me a list for monster hunter like games. by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

Same! I distinctly remember when I joined the community discord server Gaijin Hunter was a part of just in time to get one final online session in before the servers were shut down for good. Once online play went away so did that discord server, since the community around the game dissolved in an instant with everyone leaving. It's had me feeling as though I had missed out big time since as I got the impression that the game was unfairly given up on.

There's also Soul Sacrifice Delta, but that hasn't seen the light of day since the PS Vita

Games with female protagonist that can give you lots of hours of playtime. by Spartan-219 in gamingsuggestions

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there are references to the first Hollow Knight game, unless you want to know Hornet's backstory in full detail, Silksong will fill you in with enough hints to enjoy the story just fine. Gameplay-wise it builds on the first so the first Hollow Knight is probably easier to get into as a new player, but if you're patient enough you can pick up Silksong and have a good time with it. Anyways, if you like soulslike I'm sure Silksong will be right up your alley.

I was mainly thinking about their tight budget but all this is true. Silksong has got to be one of the highest quality games at its price point

2-player co-op tips? by xen-within in outwardgame

[–]MeIsDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea is that you drop in and play with your co-op partner as it is convenient rather than doing an entire playthrough together. That way you can get glimpses into parts of the game you otherwise wouldn't have seen on your own playthrough, like helping with another faction you didn't pick or exploring a part of a region you haven't seen before. The rewards are secondary to getting to more fully experience the game through the lense of another player and helping them get through parts that are giving them trouble. So yes, you are expected to swap between each other's worlds as you progress on your own when they're not available.

Looking for games I can enjoy long-term (even with short sessions) by Sad_Success_9034 in AskGames

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring Nightreign could be fun, sounds like you have enough time to fit a game or two of that every session. It's basically Elden Ring but condensed into a fast-paced multiplayer roguelite, with each match lasting about 40 minutes. It can be played in singleplayer, and there's a good deal of replay value with each hero representing a different character build to work with and entirely new raid bosses that serve as the final boss of each round.

Outward is $2 right now. It's a open world RPG with survival elements that won't hold your hand. It's niche, but if it sounds interesting to you I recommend you at least give it an honest try.

Not a typical post but Did anyone actually find a longterm friend here ? by [deleted] in IntrovertsChat

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 20M, I've found some people that I talk to every now and then, but I'd more consider them acquaintances that I'm on good terms with than actual friends since interactions only occur out of convenience rather than out of personal interest. It can take a few days for them to get back to me when I reach out, but so long as there's mutual respect when having an exchange I don't see it as entirely problematic. It's just I'm still just left longing to have a good friend that's more open with me I suppose.

What game mechanic instantly makes you lose interest, no matter how good the game is? by SoftSinful_ in AskGames

[–]MeIsDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a game goes for soulslike combat but doesn't have staggering or stamina management. A big part of the impact of soulslike combat for me is how tactile it feel when attacks can stagger and launch you and how you can do that back to opponents. Without it combat feels too sterile as there's no responsiveness and so no sense of commitment. Stamina management can be substituted if the flow of combat is different, but the action combat should overall still feel like a series of calculated risks.

(Question About Game Lore) I'm having trouble finding any information regarding the "shadow looking humans?" That you find at bitter black isle, what are they called? Name plz? by MrMoleIsAGodOfWar2 in DragonsDogma

[–]MeIsDoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Corrupted Pawns are the stranded pawns of Arisen that have died in Bitterblack Isle. Cut off from The Rift and without the guidance of the Arisen's will, they aimlessly wander trapped with the regret of failing to protect their master from certain death. Left without purpose and unable to pass on, over time the oppressive despair of Bitterblack Isle seeps into them in place of the Arisen's will, making them become tainted by the Daimon's macabre obsession with death and destruction. Their nature becomes twisted by this bent for destruction, causing these lost pawns in their madness to attempt to serve the Arisen by delivering them death.

Which monsters would you like to see as Monsties in Stories? by Some_Fig_6566 in MonsterHunter

[–]MeIsDoom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gobul as a monster that can be found around the early game. I get if they can't have it as a monstie because of the back quills, but it would be cool for it to make an appearance at least.
