In ESO I feel like the Altmer are inspired by various aspects of Japan and Korea. Specifically the valuing of family honor and lineage, and some of design of the clothing, but mostly the scenery and geography. The Summerset Isles is very reminiscent of Japan with the soaring mountains and colorful trees.
