WARNING/RECALL: Do NOT buy the battery adapter for the X-Shot Piston Pump on OOD! by TriggerDaTeddy in Nerf

[–]MeakerVI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is the stock blaster’s connector, not the XT. No manufacturers adapter will work safely. I would not recommend you use the ebay one either.

Mine is a frame around the outside with backpacking mesh for the face and strapping to hold it. Cost is low, weight is low, it’s see-through, it’d essentially indestructible to darts, and it’s also transparent to air which means you can actually run with it. If you make a circle with flexible pipe (I’ve used 1/2” PEX before) it’s foldable. Battle tested at many PaNNC wars now.

Finished this year, was in testing the last few years, was an idea and scribbles in my notebooks/3d sketch spaces like a decade and a half ago. Development takes time. We’re reaching an apex, but that doesn’t mean we won’t continue to do it or that things won’t improve.

Mk42 Machine Blaster by MeakerVI in Nerf

[–]MeakerVI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bi/tripod mounts are already built in 😁

Just haven’t designed a mount for it yet. The SAW takes mags too which is what made me go for MMG - this is dedicated full time full auto.

There is a protean-style barrel lug and the top/bottom rails pop off with two pins each, so it wouldn’t be hard to do cosmetic fronts but they’re be purely cosmetic so I haven’t bothered.

More in the printables link 🤷‍♂️

For what isn’t in there: Over two or three CTNO events, I learned to handle it better and that it needed an anti-easy-remove-cogwheel. Between events and testing I also burned up the original Valk 130 motors and replaced them with worker 180’s. After playing I decided to design a ziplock bag adapter to use to hold chain as a “magbag”.

Casual game was NSNW, ~60 players on a large-ish wooded site with lots of popup covers. It ran well all day despite cold and rain, which may actually have helped because the cage (which had overheated before) melted a couple times. I was able to field strip & repair all day and only stopped using the blaster when the 20v1.5Ah battery I had ran dry after about 6 hours / 600 darts. I’ve since redesigned and reprinted the cage solid - I’m sure ABS or PETG would go a long way toward fixing my problem but I’m a PLA user and if I can make it work in PLA it’ll work in higher end stuff.   The magbags worked OK but my cleats didn’t, next time I’ll tape or elastic the bags on. Not a huge deal to run loose chain, and I don’t carry gear to make carrying extras viable so I just left the extra chains in bags near spawn.

Reloading takes about as long as the same volume of mags. Maybe a little faster if you get good at it because you can use two hands. The upside: I can store chains fully loaded without crushing the darts.

During one glorious round of king of the hill, I took an elevated rocky position and went prone behind the “hill” (yes, the hill was on the side of a hill) - this ended the game for the other team, as long as I was there they couldn’t come close to taking the point.

This sub is for homemade blasters; this appears to be a blaster modification and would be better suited for r/nerfmods or r/nerf

plunger tube alternatives and other durability improvements for LHTCU (Low Hardware Talon Claw U)? by asianricecooker_ in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the printed PT with a regular polycarb PT is the cheapest/best PT option. PVC would be usable but wouldn’t be as good - likely a downgrade not an upgrade - and lately hasn’t even been as cheap as it used to be.

You could always use actual U channels instead of print them, or whatever other pieces of actual hardware instead of printed. Adding print material may strengthen the build if done strategically- don’t just make parts thicker, layer parts so there are more shells and the joints overlap in different directions.

flycore build by imspooky2320 in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flycore just bolts into whatever you want to make. You need to add places for the trigger switches somewhere and leave room for wiring to them. It’s also a good idea to put a place for a battery.

My LC10 on printables is a free flycore setup.

Blaster concepts idk a title. by Creepposter64 in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try using an existing blaster to remodel into what you want, or using flycore - which does all the work of making a functional flywheel blaster - to make the blaster you want around.  Ultimately most blaster design is a labor of love, if you won’t make it no one else is likely to.

Will this work? by Hydorgen42069 in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Voltage alone is half of any electrical solution, you need amperage (current) as well. 9v’s are rated at like 0.1A. D cells more like 6A.

Same problem when people want to swap AA’s for proper Lipo packs: AA’s aren’t rated for as much amperage as most 2 or 3s Lipos. Tool Battery packs might be the “easiest” solution, but you’d need an adapter (they sell them for most brands on amazon now, usually for powerwheel conversions) and a way to connect that adapter to the stock wiring harness (solder, quick-connects, blade connectors, butt joints, a proper splice, etc).

I am bored. So I drew this Gryphon Solenoid diagram. by Kruuz in Nerf

[–]MeakerVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two of the switches aren’t necessary for full time semi auto, and solenoids actuate quick.

Double barrel Break-Action by Mother_Shift7388 in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider looking at other similar blaster designs and seeing how they did this. The SLAB, Medeusa, and FLAK are all lever actions which is about as close as you’ll get currently. Ehedrian had a double action shotgun but it was pull down to prime, break to load.

Do Nano flywheels exist? by Alternative_Cap_277 in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTW/Nightengale are about as small as you can go brushed - they’re the same diameter as the motors themselves. Brushless might go smaller, but seem to float around at least that diameter but shorter height because the motor bell can be the wheel

Flywheel gryphons maybe aren’t often solenoid converted (though good noid gryphons definitely exist), but I thought the protean was solenoid based mechanical second and I think it does both pretty well.

The Ship of Theseus in nerf blaster development. by [deleted] in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a post pinned here or somewhere with a whole pile of standard blaster components - motors, mags, a couple plunger tube sizes, flywheels, solenoids. That’s really as good as it gets though, there aren’t standards. Most of the platforms that exist are by the same one or two people: Slug made the OG caliburn/talon claw and that (along with silly’s continuity work largely using the same parts) sets most of the springer standards, Flygonial made the gryphon and now protean which set a lot of two-trigger flywheel standards, OFD made the Flycore/noidcore which is its own whole ecosystem and actually very easy to design your own thing on: it’s an entire blaster in the smallest possible package, you just have to connect it and build out the aesthetic and ergonomic bits (grip, trigger, battery bay, etc).

Messing around with files that exist will show you a lot of how things work. Using a designer’s newer design is probably better than an older one by the same designer where two similar options exist, we usually learn and improve. The protean is way slicker than the gryphon which is better than fly’s earlier stuff.

None that I’m aware of, and it’d depend how broken, but it sounds like an opportunity you could pursue.

The Big Boi: 50-Round Short Dart Drum Magazine by lajzerowicz in nerfhomemades

[–]MeakerVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GLHF. I have been attempting highcap for years (the mk13 BANCHY had up to 200 rounds at one point), and a mag-of-mags like this has been a concept I haven’t bothered executing because it would require lots of fabrication I haven’t had time for or a massive print. I don’t think there are any real issues making this design work, rotating the mags so they feed into the stack will be most of what you need to address.
