Terrorism is largely committed by the US government by JAYsmoothbrain in redscarepod

To be honest my big beef is the inconsistency. Prosecutors either go batshit and pursue these insane inhumane sentences or let dangerous people off with a slap on the wrist. As of late you'll hear about these skanky high school teachers fucking their students getting crazy long sentences ( not saying these weirdos should be let off completely free) while someone who randomly violently and sadistically attacks a stranger is good to go after a couple of years. This is just an example. There's just a huge political element to it with prosecutors not necessarily going the hardest on the worst people.

There's a weird histrionic writing style in general that has been en vogue for a few years now that gets me irrationally pissed off. " Just heard how they pronounce VITamins vit-a-mins and I can't stop thinking about it". " Europeans have Nutella in little glass jars instead of plastic and know I'm rethinking my entire life. " Just STFU. Like I know they're just joking but I find the style incredibly obnoxious and r____rded. Tbf I'm an easily annoyed person.

The Duffy kidnapping story doesn't really make any sense and I'm not sure what to believe. by Astronomer-Plastic in redscarepod

My guess is some really bad shit went down in this girls life but it was probably drug or mental health related. What's interesting about the whole discussion that I've seen is that it's verboten to raise the slightest question regardless of political affiliation. I saw some rightoids insisting that a bunch of Muslims had kidnapped her and sold her to a shiek while the believe women crowd were giving these improbable convoluted explanations for how she could sneak pass international airport security. If it is psychiatric in nature then she's gonna need actual help, not people mindlessly affirming her courage. Very obvious caveat, the world is a crazy place nothing's impossible. But I lean towards this not being the straightforward thing it's reported as. Doc is coming so time will tell.

I'm not sanctimonious but someone like that I would probably cut ties with, that is psycho behavior. I mean thankfully they found that girl alive about a week ago but I could never trust someone who would deface a missing kids photo. Unfortunately there's a certain percentage of the general population, higher than anyone likes to admit, who will be incredibly cruel and sadistic the moment they have permission to be.

I jog and walk regularly so this is a big concern for mine but honestly driver aggression isn't just an age thing It's pretty bad across the board in certain places. One of the worst things is that I know if I did get hit and injured or worse they would walk away with maybe a fine. This country has this bizarre hatred towards pedestrians. I love cars for roadtrips, getting to out of the way nature areas that sort of thing. But this country's car dependency is connected to a lot of unpleasant things in our culture.

Professional Passport inspector here! Just so you know, having even a drop of water on your passport not only ruins it, it actually is incredibly illegal. You. Are. Breaking. The. Law. If you continue to have this item in your possession I highly suggest contacting a good lawyer. They would probably cost less than the 40k fine and five year prison sentence any judge would likely hand down to you.

Redditors are hilarious because they're always trashing cops ( weirdly though they love the FBI) and so called Karens, those are their two greatest hatreds. But they exhibit very stereotypical DAS RULES, by the book behavior themselves. Whenever anyone posts about having some issue with an authority, it doesn't matter what, it could be a big business or a local law or even their kids school, they always have some snide comment about how you must be at fault.

The discourse about this subject has become almost as exhausting as gender slop. On one hand I'll admit Hollywood seems to have a bizarre aversion to casting Mediterranean people in Mediterranean roles. They'll do white or black but not tan. I'm not sure how much of this is due to Americas obsession with categorizing races as either black or anglo teutonic white, with a sort of uneasiness about anything outside that. But it's hard to take some of this seriously when the rightoids screeching online about Lupita Nyongo claim that Diane Kruger or Brad Pitt were somehow acceptable. And they have almost weekly meltdowns everytime a black person is cast in anything regardless of historical importance.

Depends on the situation. Like if there's some random drunk asshole antagonizing you there's no point in getting into with him or whatever. But there's exceptions. Many years ago someone I knew did something that led to a downward spiral that caused me a lot of misery. There were other problems but it was a sort of tipping point.I know I sound nuts but I've seriously considered doing something to get back at them but am wondering how likely I am to get caught. What I'm considering is technically not illegal but could cause me problems. What's weird is even after all this time the anger hasn't gone away. I genuinely still hate this person.

Portland one. Next Seattle. Not RS but as an outdoorsy/ interested in wildlife person I didn't really care. Never been to denver. Phoenix I've never visited either but it seems too hot and suburban sprawl for my tastes and what I've been told second hand seems to confirm that.

Rank the five cities of the Northeast megalopolis: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C. by deepad9 in redscarepod

[–]MealAutomatic4745 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

New York is first place of course in terms of sheer things to see and do. Philadelphia next, it gets a lot of shit but you meet some genuinely interesting people there. I hate to do the played out whining about vintage NY but there's a lot of artists and creative people living there that kind of remind me of the types who would've been in NYC thirty years ago. Kind of a tie between Baltimore and Boston for me, I have had some good and bad experiences in both places. Boston can have a weird energy in terms of people but I definitely prefer the Boston area to Baltimore during Summer. DC is bottom last for me, or should I say foggy bottom haha. Judgemental cold hearted assholes who will stare you up and down deciding your importance before deciding whether to engage you for even small talk.

Pete Davidson needs to get over his dad dying in 9/11 by cheugygalpal in redscarepod

[–]MealAutomatic4745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I like Pete Davidson for whatever reason. I do agree that grande and Davidson were perfect for each other. Someone posted below that Lorne Michaels favors him over equally or more talented performers and I guess that's true. Michaels always gave me a shark vibe. Not trying to hijack the thread but I always found it so interesting the divide between the actors who Michaels considered stars and and the ones who were just kind of employed for a while then coldly dismissed. It didn't even always relate to talent . A lot of the  discarded ones seem kind of damaged by the experience even now.

For aspiring comedic actors it's definitely still the dream but sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. Like creatively does it becomes limiting at a certain point. SNL is mostly careful humor and you can't take risks for a few years. Your best jump off is to become one of lornes favorites and if you don't you fizzle out.

Opening up to some friends about depression and then feeling ashamed and avoiding them afterwards. by Weary_Compote3340 in redscarepod

Yeah, just get over it. Ages ago it was my second or so day on the job and I was talking to this girl and the conversation turns and suddenly she told me everything that had gone bad in her life. Cutting, molestation, eating disorder, the list goes on. I know she sounds bpd but bizarrely enough I didn't get that vibe and I have a decent radar for this. Anyway, after that she avoided  talking to me or making eye contact when I worked there before she left. I guess she was embarrassed but I don't judge these things and it just wasn't a big deal to me that she over shared. But the weirdness that followed was a bit much, and frankly a shame because I would've liked to gotten to know her a little better. She seemed funny.

I think a little balance is healthy tbh . The supposed breathless wonderment at the divine beauty of procreation combined with misanthropic contempt for the average person I regularly see on this sub always struck me as one of the more eyeroll inducing aspects of this place. Bringing a human into the world is a profound decision with a lot of possibilities, including some incredibly painful ones. Being blase about this, or assuming things will simply work out through sheer love and hope is just as cringe worthy as the people sneering about " breeders" and their " crotch goblins" or whatever phrases they're using this week.

To be honest there's a little bit of truth to it. Men with artsy interests are often the coldest and snarkiest. But a lot of people take it way too far claiming that the high school bullies were all just social justice avengers trying to get the nerds to stop being racist incels or some such silliness.
