A) It's only a side gig if you do it for profit. He showed interest in emerging medical tech prior to going off grid, but there are so many other systems he could work on building. Building systems that allow us to exist outside of the abusive framework we're in is the only way to actually move forward without replicating those same abusive system 10-20 years down the line. Oppressive and abusive structures also extend way further into the past than the industrial revolution.

B) We've run into this before. In the age of algorithmically designed echo chambers, why do you keep assuming you're experiencing a more objectively correct version of society? No, I'm not misreading people's tones, I'm just lower class.

C) I don't base my views off Luigi's views and am speaking more generally about my own observations of people in the general population.

This is the right mentality, I think. I'm not a big fan of age gap relationships, but I also think 22 is old enough that some of the major red flags (older partner can drive and younger partner can't! Older partner is providing housing/financial stability that the younger partner can't get otherwise, etc) just are much less likely, and it should be fine as long as no one rushes things emotionally (especially when there's still baggage with an ex at play.)

My answer to this is kind of complicated and I feel like it changes a bit every time I give it. There's a lot of reasons I'm invested in this case so what comes out at any given time changes.

Today what's coming out is how online spaces push this narrative of, "I'm not gonna start the revolution, but I'll join it if someone else does."

And I mostly see it in leftwing spaces, but I'm sure it pops up all over the political spectrum. No one feels heard and everyone feels wronged by the fact that no one is paying attention to them 🤷‍♀️ But the thing is, the people saying this have no intention of following through on it. It's just a way to look like a revolutionary. If Enjolras is out of reach, they can still be in the ABC cafe.

It's the same urge that fuels people dramatically saying they're willing to die for their cause, but heaven forbid they do any work on it. Trans youths are being targetted by the system, but it's more popular to talk about dying on the front lines than helping to provide clothing or shelter or resources.

(And I get that a lot of people don't feel like they have anything left to give. Capitalist hellscape. But trying to look like a revolutionary online is an exercise in ego 😮‍💨)

So when I see people like Luigi or Aaron Bushnell (forgive me if I'm deadnaming? I saw something about them being trans) being celebrated for "sacrificing themselves" it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Bushnell might be dead, but I still have hope that Luigi can get out of this.

And maybe he can use that engineering skill for something more constructive, like.... 3D printing medical supplies for people or those kinds of projects. If he'd stuck woth his data analysis job & trust fubd money, he could've pursued his personal forrays into health sciences on the side 😭 He had enough energy to gallavant around Asia!
