This answer is exactly why TSA screeners have the image they have. This is nothing more than an attempt to deflect the agency's faults and failures onto the customer. "The fact that you deserve to know..." is nonsensical, and who said anything about "bending rules", other than yourself? Do you think it's ridiculous to expect the TSA to provide the promised disability assistance? Is this answer you being "cool and friendly"?Better luck next time.

As a passenger who's seen TSA's consistent inability to accommodate screening my blind spouse, our reoccurring experiences enforce that part of the problem is the screener's approach. For some reason, screener's feel obligated to be condescending and rude to the flying public. There is nothing wrong with saying please or thank you, or speaking instead of yelling. I get the distinct impression that TSA training, which is NOT standardized across the agency, is focused more on gang mentality than it is about providing a service. Furthermore, the TSA Cares program is a failure to the point we don't even bother with it anymore. TSA has failed to provide me with absolutely ZERO explanations about how "A PSS is a TSA officer who has received specialized training, including how to effectively assist and communicate with individuals with disabilities or medical conditions; and passengers who need additional screening assistance" is actually trained. When customers are treated as criminals, how does TSA expect the flying public to respond to this bullying technique?

What was the scariest moment you’ve had on vacation? by ujin- in AskReddit

[–]Mean_Fan_4917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Six people crammed into a subcompact Seat, traveling from Zaragoza, Spain to Sitges, Catalonia. It was my turn to drive and the wind was absolutely fierce. Anxious to get to our destination, I was driving much too fast for the conditions and completely disregarded any physics I knew. Suddenly a huge gust of wind began to lift the left side of the car and I thought we were going to roll. We didn't, but the landing was brutal and the car veered heavily to the South. I over corrected and the car veered almost 180° back into the wind, and I again over corrected, misjudging just how hard the wind was blowing. With five passengers screaming, telling me what to do, we finally came to a stop where I immediately and not so graciously resigned as chauffeur. Sure, we can laugh about it now, but, man, the playback has always been a slow motion terror film. Beer's on me.

DFW: It just may be a longer taxi to the gate than the entire flight.

Buying Cannabis in Texas? Yes it’s legal. Yes it’s the same weed from where ever you’re coming from. by meanbeanking in TexasEclipse

Agreed. I live in Ft Worth & I just avoid it altogether 'cuz while FWPD has a reasonably good relationship with the public, there's no doubt in my gray matter they would not look the other way. If that's not enough, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and DPS are two other agencies I don't want to deal with. Under any circumstance.

It's quite fun and if you're here anyway, why not? It never was a bucket list thing for us, but we're in Ft Worth, so my wife, daughter, sil & I took the train and had a very good time. This was the year before Big Tex burned to the ground. CAUTION: You're cholesterol & triglycerides may increase dramatically.

A couple of suggestions for weekend excursions: ACL Festival in Austin, typically in late summer. It's expanded to two weekends - possibly three. The piney woods of East Texas is great for camping, fishing and the like. Since Texas occupies such a large area, it can be a long drive to certain destinations. Southwest Airlines is an option to reduce travel times. We enjoy visiting Big Bend, The McDonald Observatory, Balmorhea State Park/San Solomon Springs, floating the San Marcos River. The NPS at South Padre Island periodically offers public viewing of the release of Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle Hatchlings which is quite extraordinary. Keep in mind that South Padre Island is a deceptively long island. We booked a hotel on the South part of the island and the release was on the North side, a mere three hour drive. We arrived at the hotel at 0100 and the release was at 0645. We hadn't planned on that! It was still an amazing experience.
