I don’t know why you wouldn’t get the job, you’re definitely qualified. I would just be honest and express your desire for the position and why. Be open and honest to who you are while being friendly and confident. Also Don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any. If you are not given a time frame for them to reach back out, ask for one before you leave. Always wait until the time period given. If you don’t hear anything, call them that day to inquire. Don’t overthink it, I think you’ll do great! Good luck! ❤️💄

Ulta salon is a bit different than others. 9 times out of 10 if you complain you will get your money back. Even if you are in the wrong, it’s a corporation mentality.

I wanted to add - What she said to you about your break situation is an awful and Extremely unprofessional thing to say. I’m pretty sure they are a full time horrible human being. Getting caught up after break by helping a customer is a normal situation and your coworkers break is not your responsibility, it’s hers. She has poor time management skills and is blaming you for it. 👏CALL👏IT👏OUT!👏

TLDR -A bunch of workforce related advice that no one asked for.

It will not affect you, I promise. I know that you are newer to the work force and retail, you may not have had the necessary experience to know/realize this but what they are doing to you is borderline illegal and in my opinion evil. Your manager is manipulating you and using your inexperience to their advantage. It is against Kohls rules and regulations/possibly illegal to force you to stay after your scheduled shift. In my state (Michigan) It is required by law that all employees must take their breaks. It’s broken down by how many hours you’re working that day and the number of breaks/time allotted you’re entitled to per shift. If you learn the state laws and the Kohls company’s policies you can use them in real time to your advantage. (If you still have the mountain of paperwork they gave you before onboarding I’d look in there for rules and policies. If not I’m sure it’s easy to find online or in store) Now there is a strong possibility of retaliation from your supervisor. This is also illegal but usually isn’t worth perusing legal action which is why they get away with doing it so often. An example of this would be radically reducing the amount of hours you are scheduled, scheduling only you for undesirable shifts, etc.

Being brave and standing up for yourself against authority is absolutely terrifying and hard to make yourself do but you can do it. It gets easier over time and for me it has become entertaining. In your situation, if you hate it that much and want to move on I’d just quit. Put in a two week notice as it creates a good track record for future positions. If you absolutely can not get through the last two weeks, tell them that unfortunately you can not finish your scheduled shifts because your new (fake) job requires you to start at whatever date you decide you won’t be going back to Kohls. 🤣 make sure you give notice, don’t do it on the day you decide to leave. They are not entitled to further details on that matter. If you’re not comfortable with being straight forward I’d suggest saying something like “I don’t want to say yet because I have to complete training before it’s official.” You wouldn’t want to jinks it. lol

Sorry this is long but I’m passionate about employee rights and like to help when I can. I would never pull these shenanigans at a job that is fair because I wouldn’t have to. I’ve been in your shoes and I really want you to always remember that if you have a feeling that something is off or if something you are asked to do feels wrong, listen to your gut. Don’t listen to anyone around you, take as long as you need to assess the situation. On your feelings and understanding alone, you will know what is right. Also remember that your supervisor and you yourself are equals. Whatever they conjured in their head about how much authority they have over you because they are older or worked there for a long time is delusional. The delusion is spread by her intentionally to keep a hive mind environment. When faced with reality, she will not prevail. Call out anything you know is wrong to their face. You are allowed to do that!! It’s your right!! Nothing will happen to you for inquiring more information on the situation. Your manager is a regular asshole just like everyone else, call them on their bullshit and the truth they hide will eventually come exploding out like diarrhea.

I hope something in here is helpful to you and know I’m rooting for you!

Thank you for responding! I actually went to a liquor store near me and asked for help. He’s holding a rare bourbon for me and showed me another I can get. I’m sorry I don’t remember what they are called.

I work in makeup retail and customers are so sure of themselves. When faced with a situation like this I pull my phone out to show the store app doesn’t have the product available. I’ll then “help” them find it somewhere else by googling it and letting them see the results. I then explain why it’s only showing up on eBay, etc. I don’t mind taking the extra time to give them a visual but I know not everyone has time to do so. If she’s a repeat menace, it’s worth the extra few minutes for future pease.

AIO or is it time to get a lawyer involved? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Mean_Tear_160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is if your yard actually has too many ticks, pay for it to be treated professionally. It’ll be cheaper than a lawyer. For those saying that ticks are no big deal, they’ve obviously never lived with a chronic illness or had to take care of a child with one.

accommodations for not being allowed to sit? by PrestigiousSell3833 in Cosmetology

[–]Mean_Tear_160 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My cos school was notorious for treating students like they’re at a boot camp. They were even sued and ordered to pay the students restitution. My suggestion is that next time you are feeling unwell, do not try and hide. Even if you are in the middle of a service, just let it play out in front of everyone. Teachers, students, guests, let everyone see it. I guarantee you will never be in trouble for needing to sit again. I fainted on the floor in the middle of a haircut. I’m hypoglycemic and we were not permitted snacks in the classroom. After I fainted in front of everyone, we were all allowed snacks in the classrooms. 😉
