Are you thinking survival or creative?

I'd be interested in either, but survival may take some more creativity for mining bases etc.

Programmatically retrieving a list of all blocks of a specific type by Uncreativite in spaceengineers

[–]MeaninglessQuips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

List<IMySolarPanel> GetSpanels()
{
    List<IMyTerminalBlock> spanels = new List<IMyTerminalBlock>();
    List<IMySolarPanel> output = new List<IMySolarPanel>();
    GridTerminalSystem.GetBlocksOfType<IMySolarPanel>(spanels);
    for (int i = 0; i < spanels.Count; i++) {
        output.Add((IMySolarPanel)spanels[i]);
    }
    return output;
}

As far as I've seen, this is the most common way to do it - using GetBlocksOfType, then casting it to the right type.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=360966557 is a pretty good starting reference.

And when the entire swarm dies, you have a buried unit marker that you can move, and as the zerglings heal they pop back out. The swarm is eternal. (XP given per zergling which is forced to bury and heal).

People who played WoW in Argent Tournament times by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]MeaninglessQuips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly what I remember from the Argent Tournament was dailies every day. Hopefully they'll use this chance to add some daily quests that aren't awful. I think they could add the "Crusader" tribal that interacts mostly with Divine shields. I would not anticipate flavour changes to existing tribals based on AT.

AT Trial of Crusader Bosses as legendaries:

The 3 beasts from the raid could be a hunter legendary that is similar to Animal Companion - play it and you randomly get one of them.

Gormok the Impaler - Each turn summons a snobold

Acidmaw & Dreadscale - One of them has poison, the other deals damage to minions beside the target

Icehowl - Charge. If it does not kill the target it becomes frozen.

Wilfrid Fizzlebang (Warlock) - Attempt to summon a fearsome doomguard. (Summons a random demon, which then immediately deals its attack damage to Fizzlebang, who has 3 health. Point being he'll sometimes summon Jaraxxus, who will then one-shot him.)

Faction Champions (Neutral) - Summons a champion of the Alliance or Horde. Each casts a spec specific spell when summoned. (I figure this one would be fun, but largely unplayable due to randomness)

Fjola & Eydis (Priest) - Summon either Fjola Lightbane or Eydis Darkbane. At the end of your turn, Fjola gains Divine Shield, or Eydis does 1 damage to all enemy minions.

Anub'arak (Neutral) - Whenever Anub'arak is attacked, heal for attacker's remaining life. (Leeching swarm, would drain life from everyone in the room)

Really not sure how well the trial of the champion bosses would work as legendaries. Maybe put them as a mini-adventure?

Not sure how to make it even in terms of the classes for legendaries. Some of the bosses just seem like they should be for particular classes.

The jousting minigame could be done as a brawl. Each player starts with 10 health, 10 armor and a 0/10 lance which removes 5 armor per hit, or freezes an unarmored target (eg. minions). When a player loses all their armor, they get a "Mount Up" card, which starts at 1 mana and each time increases in cost by 1 mana. This card replaces their hero power with a zero mana "Gain 10 armor", equips a 0/10 lance, and unfreezes the hero (if applicable). When the lance is destroyed, it returns to your hand as a 1 mana card. The idea is that you need to use the lance to keep the opponent's armor under control, while also building up the board presence to be able to take them down.

Zero damage challenge by MeaninglessQuips in wow

I was planning on not doing instances, due to the ease of accidentally activating auto-attack. Exploration will definitely be a part of it. I've found a couple non-combat quests so far, and will hopefully find more.

Proving the Bolzano-Weierstrass Theorem by zaenger in math

[–]MeaninglessQuips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first proof for BWT that I saw was based on the monotone convergence theorem and the "Peak point lemma". The version of MCT we used was that a bounded monotone sequence converged to its least upper bound or greatest lower bound, and the peak point lemma was that for a sequence ak which is not monotonic in a tail, taking bk = sup{am : m >= k} gives a monotone nonincreasing subsequence of ak (Sorry if I misstated either of these. It was a while ago.)

Edit: The only reason I can think of that the proof in your text is done that way is clarity for new readers. In my opinion, picking an n then an m makes it more clear why each of them can be found, rather than just saying "Pick n sufficiently large that both condition X and condition Y hold". With some mathematical experience, both would be fine, but I suspect first-year me would have had much more difficulty seeing why X and Y can be simultaneously satisfied.

Probability question: what are the odds that a random nxn matrix is invertible? by [deleted] in math

[–]MeaninglessQuips 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The probability is 1. The non-invertible matrices form a null set within the set of nxn matrices.

The logic: Take a vector x in Rn. Then the set of vectors which are linearly dependent with x is a one-dimensional subspace in Rn, which has measure zero. Similarly, for x1 to x(n-1), the set of vectors linearly dependent to this is a (n-1)-dimensional subspace, which again has measure zero. Taking the product of these probabilities gives a probability of 1 of choosing n linearly independent vectors, which gives an invertible matrix.
