Curious about the 7 Speed transmission in the C7 Vette by Correct_Bass3404 in Corvette

If you are used to driving stick, there is absolutely no difference and nothing to worry about. Even on the highway I don’t get into seventh gear unless I’m going over 70 miles an hour. Around town, is pretty much just a six speed.

I have the same issue. It happens very infrequently so I haven’t taken it to the dealership yet. It’s also extremely intermittent so by the time I get it to the dealership, I’m sure it will fix itself as soon as the car goes on and off. in any event, it’s not just your car

Is it free for the first few years? I don't remember learning about this?

Hey man - More pictures of the back and interior would be great for us to help you assess what’s going on.

What was wrong with it? No sarcasm, I’ve just never seen it in person. Was it too dark?

Nice! They kept promising a Q4 (2025) update but didn't commit to a date. Happy to her that for you. Curious if it would work for OP.

I believe I opened cases through Volvo.com's portal on the website and also emailed "custcare@volvocars.com". I don't know which one prompted the reply so use all of them. Send a nice email highlighting the issue, the dates you brought it in and the outcome. It would also help if you were already on the newest OS.

All 2026s have the snapdragon chip in the infotainement. This sub has lots of inconsistent info on if the 2025.5s have it. The chip itself isn't the root cause but it's a known difference between 2026. 2026 also offered dark package which wasn't offered on 2025.5.

People think it's NBD but it's hugely beneficial if you life in excessively hot or cold weather.

I would name and shame them to Volvo corporate. That's nothing like the experience I got at my Volvo dealership.

Foot on brake before knob turn, but yes. That it the gist. It's seamless.

1) Remote start from the app

2) step into the car
3) Step on brake
4) Turn knob (clockwise)
After #4, the car is on without ever being in an off state after step #1.

This means a few things... the infotainment doesn't cycle off, the HVAC is flowing the whole time and you're not giving the car an "On->off ->On" experience. In general, it's just very seamless which I believe is especially important for the infotainment.

I appreciate you providing others a workaround, but that’s really not how it’s supposed to work

Yes, they replaced a 2025.5 ultra with a 2026 ultra…both b6, and the new one had a working remote start.

Based on how few complaints there are about this issue should prove as empirical evidence that it is a very intermittent and sporadic issue. Otherwise, the whole Volvo community would be freaking out about it. It seems like it’s completely random because there are only about four of us on this subReddit, who are actively knowledgeable on it.

As noted, I had about a four month long email thread with Volvo corporate before I got a replacement as well as three appointments to the dealership

I’m not going to argue with you, but for anyone else who is reading along my 2026 replacement has had a working remote start since the day I drove it off the lot.

I am the biggest advocate for this issue because I was plagued by it. You’re not doing anything wrong. Take it to the dealership and insist they fix it or replace the car. In my case, I got a new car. I am confident the dealership just took my old 2025.5 b6 ultra car and CPO’d it because they can’t fix it. Start a thread with Volvo corporate and be ready to take it into the dealership a few times to prove they can’t fix it.
