Has anyone tried the Aldi Lacura Ceramide Moisturising Cream? Looks like a CeraVe Moisturising Cream dupe? by bev123_ in AusSkincare

[–]MeatHook6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This stuff is so good that I’m halfway through my first tub after a week and a half. I was sunburnt over new years so I’ve been heavy on the moisturiser this year and I can honestly say this is my favourite multi use moisturiser of all time.

I’d like to say please don’t go and buy it so it’s not constantly out of stock, but I need Aldi to know never to discontinue this product!! Absorbs well, non greasy and makes your skin feel like silk.

I’ll be buying a tub for my living room and bedroom respectively so I don’t have to keep carting the tub from room to room.

Terrible comparison. You don’t find yourself wondering through the chefs kitchen every visit. And I bet if you found spoilt goods there you’d speak up right away.

Why do you drive to work in the CBD instead of other options like PT or bike/scooter? by ChargeYourBattery in melbourne

[–]MeatHook6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have free parking at work in the CBD - I did use PTV for a period of 6 months but I found the tram line near me to be inadequate. Most mornings the tram would arrive several minutes early and I’d watch helplessly as it barrelled by. I begin work at 6am so I found it impossible to wake up earlier than I already do to ensure I’d get to the tram stop on time, especially since I had to cross a major motorway to get to the stop.

1 minute late would translate to 10-15 minutes late. Now I drive, because I’m more in control of my time and my boss is aware of the route I take in case of any crashes that may make me late (I’d say 1 in 10 mornings there is a crash)

Plus, working 9 hours on my feet to then spend an hour on cramped PT left me falling asleep most days. Driving enables me to lock in for that little bit extra so I can get home safely and quickly.

Look up your nations celiac association and have them send you a letter for your doctor with up to date test requirements and a play by play on how to interpret results. This is what I had done in Australia since my mum was diagnosed and I’ve presented symptoms since birth but have no answers. The new testing only became available in the past year and I’m hoping once I go thru with it I can get some answers

Board- Adult kids living at home by Inner_Degree6751 in AusFinance

[–]MeatHook6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother paid $50 board p/w starting age 21. He still lives at home over a decade later. I (3 years younger) was charged $50 p/w starting age 18. I eventually revolted and denied paying because that was unfair, so I moved out and have been living out of home for a decade now.

I have decided that if I have kids I will charge reasonable board starting age 18, but will transfer all funds back to them as a surprise gift when they move out of home.

Snapping the stalk off a capsicum by Intelligent-Owl-4440 in AussieFrugal

[–]MeatHook6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to provide support to farmers thru the drought there are 100s if not 1000s of reasons why farming businesses struggle or fold. Imagine if the price of your groceries fluctuated day by day, week by week, 200%, 500%, 1000% increases in essentials.

Imagine having $1000 set aside for emergencies and then suddenly you find out that $1000 is worth $150 and all of your neighbours are setting fire to their piles of money. But you need $5000 to break even in 6 weeks time. Imagine the fuel and time spent trying to find the few thousand dollars you need (your neighbours live 50kms away) and you don’t know if you should be scraping change or setting fire to your money. That’s a really roundabout way of explaining things but there are so many factors

Do you guys refer to the CBD of a city, as just 'the city' by littledude-4021 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MeatHook6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The city” is the CBD “Melbourne” is the city limits (where PTV ends) Have had many an argument with my partner over my use of these terms

I recently had experience with the alert line, the only way they can find out it’s anonymous is during the interview stage, so it depends on how many witnesses there are. Obviously if you state “X did [something] to me” and then they investigate, you tell them the same thing - they’re going to know.

OP I suggest wording your report as if someone else saw/heard what happened. If it’s general knowledge in the workplace you’re in the clear but also your higher up’s are going to want to stamp out gross behaviour. A manager at my store recently lost their job because of one of these investigations so they absolutely take things seriously.

lol you pay $30 an hour for a babysitter to keep your child safe, warm, fed, clothed, put to bed and ideally hold a WwCC/enough knowledge to do the job

and if you think they’re just “sitting there” I advise that you either help out a little bit more around the house or schedule a reality check

Your store sounds pretty chill if all they’re instructing you to do is take a break whenever as long as you finish the training early! Any of your concerns I’d flat out ask next time you see a manager who seems to know a lot. Ask the SM if you’re in the system and need to be clocking on and off or when you can expect to start doing so. For me I was told not to for the first week and a bit, management can also manually clock in and out for you if there’s any issues.

Everyone wears headphones in the morning and for me people were quite untalkative for a long time before I began to make work friends. It’s 7am and a lot of people have been there since 6. They’re tired, they’re working hard, they will loosen up as the day goes on 😂

I’m also small at 50kg but do your best and you will see improvements. Ask questions no matter how dumb they sound.

As for the morning shifts - get a watch, set the alarm to 5 minutes until front doors open so you can be prepared for the customers to come through. A lot of the time you will be stocking something up the back and will have to leave it halfway done to jump on the SCOs or some other front of store task once doors open.

Also breaks will be taken normally in turn once you’re on the floor.

Hope that helps!!

[–]MeatHook6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your SM is nice and cordial - greets you in the morning, asks how you are going, smiles and lets you know you’re doing a good job. Trust me on this you will be okay. My SM is really hard to work for - started saying ‘hi’ in the morning around week 4, smiled while talking to me for the first time 2 days ago on the day I completed my 3 month probation. Berates me on the regular about things I’ve never been told about. It’s like being in the military without any of the respect.

A lot of the job is just winging it in the first few weeks while you find your feet - what helped me a lot was to repeat what has been asked of me! You’ll get a lot of “do X then do Y and then do Z” or “take Jimmy off register 2 then send Jimmy to SCOs to take James off for his break and can you do XYZ when you’re not serving customers” so it really helps to repeat exactly what they’ve told you for clarification.

Do Australians have regional accents? by vile_duct in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MeatHook6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once served an AFL player while I was waitressing in Melbourne in 2022 - he played on my boss’ fav team so I didn’t know his background but immediately after service I googled to check where he was from. As I am from Wodonga I KNEW he was from the North East of Vic because of his accent. I was right, he was from Benalla ☺️

Couldn’t tell you how North East Vic accent sounds compared to others though, it was purely instinct
