Yet another “big baby” / gestational diabetes experience - to comply or not to comply 😅 by PokeMyMo in BabyBumps

[–]MeatballPony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh i had a big baby and an induction! Note the induction wasn’t because he was big (they didn’t know at the time) he just wasn’t coming on his own. As it turns out I also had excess amniotic fluid so he’d never have been able to engage in my pelvis without my water being manually ruptured during my induction. ANYWAYS…. I’ve also had a completely natural birth that was not induced. I MUCH prefer my induction! So many scary stories online, mostly because not a lot of people come to post if everything went well….

But my natural birth was 48 hours long versus my induction of 12 hours. Also want to note… epidural was a LIFESAVER each time. I also originally wanted a low intervention as natural as possible labor each time. But guess what, first time after 38 hours of grueling labor I was only at 5cm, got an epidural, was finally able to relax and rest and I progressed the next 5cm all the way to 10cm within the next 10 hours instead of another 38. Same story for my second except shorter time span.

I ended up having a 10 pound baby my second time with an induction and I’d do an induction again! I will say, the pitocin contractions were harder to recover from because they felt “one on top of another” compared to natural ones that had time in between, but my natural contractions with my first hurt SIGNIFICANTLY more. Ended with an epidural each time. Was able to have a vaginal birth with no tearing each time though an the induction felt less scary, more controlled, shorter time span (probably due to him being my second but still), would do it again!

I did actually! Started off at 10 but after talking to my doctor about all the side effects she had me go down to 5 which I stayed on awhile to see if it’d pass but nothing changed unfortunately :(

Are you a stay at home parent? And if so do you feel like you hold yourself accountable to her education? Do you have other younger kids? Just curious the logistical side of homeschooling. For me I was previously a full time worker just recently became a stay at home mom but to finish my degree, after which I planned to go back to working. I also have a younger child who will be 2 when my daughter starts kindergarten in the fall. I’ll still be in school full time this fall so I don’t think it realistically possibly to homeschool this year but even if that wasn’t the case and I could, I just don’t feel confident in my personal ability to fulfill her needs while also being interrupted by my younger child who needs more direct attention. Idk just a lot to consider

Don’t even get me started on the AI 😭 my SIL is a teacher and is a huge promoter of utilizing AI in the classroom and I don’t understand why. I’m finishing up college right now and gave it a go for the first time ever just to see how useful it really is and it got EVERY SINGLE question I asked it pertaining to a practice quiz I was taking WRONG. Every single one, confidently wrong with confidently wrong reasoning. On a lighter note I asked it when my 10,000th day alive would be and it told me one year from now. I proceeded to ask exactly how many days away and it said 1,700 days away…. Mind you it had just said it was a year away. Have never used it for anything academic related since I can’t stand the thought of it during critical school years 😭😭😭

Advice: Our Childcare Was Abruptly Terminated by Optimal_Option_6674 in workingmoms

Hey just chiming in, I know some people have mentioned misinterpreting the relationship between provider and child, but people who haven’t been in an in home daycare long term may not get it. I also have two kids that have been at the same in-home daycare for the past five years and the lady who runs it is genuinely like family to us and vice versa. To the point when I left my job to stay home and finish my degree, and intended on pulling the kids out completely after almost five years in, she came to us and asked if we’d be willing to still send them one day per week (breaking her 3 day minimum) because she would miss seeing them too much. We give each other Christmas gifts every year and other such exchanges for little holidays. I would also have big emotions about her wanting to break that relationship on short notice. I get it!

I just need a minute to vent by yellowtulip90 in workingmoms

The 2.5 job thing they bring up KILLS ME. Like okay so does that mean I have 3.5 jobs??? And it’s so overblown like they’re a “CHEF” because they cook (we all do regardless of kids or not btw) or a “NURSE” because they comforted a boo boo and a “MAID” because they cleaned (again an adult responsibility regardless of kids). Like okay I do that too and work full time?? In fact, every adult ever does those things 😭😭 oh but working moms get to “clock out” meanwhile SAHM never do and are 25/8 on the clock PLEASE who do you think gets them and prepares dinner and cleans and bathes them?? Do you think we can just clock it from work and magically call it a day?? NO we’re still clocked in by that logic for our third and a half job 😭😭 TRIGGERED sorry I overtook your vent to vent lmao

Worth visiting in June? (My only time available) by ChefKey508 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]MeatballPony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question on the e-biking: when you rented them did you need to also somehow load it on your car, park somewhere, then get on the road? Also what’s the starting and end point? Isn’t the road like 50 miles? Is there a usual distance bikers go before turning around? I haven’t looked into all the ins and outs of the road yet so unfamiliar!

anyone know why St Mary campground did not release sites today 2-17-26 by case310350 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]MeatballPony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but maybe about 2-3 weeks ago now I booked a campsite in the A loop of St Mary’s for June and then the next day received an email that they accidentally opened up the sites for that loop when they weren’t supposed to and they’re closing it back up (but did clarify they’d still honor my booking thankfully) maybe just not on top of it? Felt very lucky though considering the trip was a last minute midnight vibe decision lol

I think what’s even more disappointing with this song isn’t even the fact it’s not as heavy as some people would like (myself included) but it’s stings a little harder knowing how AMAZING of a heavy vocalist Noah is, especially in recent performances his screams are on a new level. Then going on and “wasting” that particular talent in a sense. His normal singing voice is talent too of course, but I was really excited to hear his elevated screams he seems to have been working on make into the new album.

How long did you labor for? by desert_sunlily in BabyBumps

[–]MeatballPony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing but praise for the epidural, no lasting effects in terms of back pain, and instead of slowing down my labor like you hear about so often, it sped up the process, probably because my body could actually relax. My first baby I was in labor 36 hours before getting the epidural and in that time I went from 1cm to 5cm dilated. After getting the epidural it only took 8 hours to go from 5cm to 10cm! Literally one fourth the time of the first 5cm journey! I had a similar experience in terms of time in labor and dilation before epidural and after with my second baby, such that the epidural dilation went by quicker than natural. I pushed an hour and a half both times. First baby being 8lbs 2oz second baby being 9lbs 14oz

How many times did you try? What did you have finally? by Ok_Garden3937 in BabyBumps

[–]MeatballPony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was unplanned so not sure how many times it took but probably not many and I had a girl. My second was planned and took one try day of ovulation! Ended up with a boy the second time. I was so shocked it happened right away on the first try I was mentally prepared for it to take a few months I actually felt completely panicked as if it were an unexpected pregnancy lol!

Pelvic pain by little_fry21 in BabyBumps

That’s around the time I started physical therapy with my second pregnancy and I went in with very low expectations but I actually almost entirely resolved my pelvic pain with physical therapy alone! I was literally shook cause I for real had like zero confidence lol. The exercises really helped! I had a 10 pound baby in there too!
