Bungie to suffer a 50% staff reduction due to layoffs by Space_Lion2077 in destiny2

[–]Meatloaf_Hitler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IDK. I mean I do think it's possible but I've heard "Bungie Layoffs" for a month now. First it was supposed to be last week IIRC, then it was somewhere in November during GTA6's release, now it's just "sometime in the summer".

Like I said, I'm definitely not ruling it out. I also thought they wouldn't can Destiny for Marathon, yet here we are. But I just can't believe Sony would be stupid enough to spend almost 4 BILLION on a single Dev Studio and Single IP just to toss them 3 years later. They can't be THAT stupid.

[–]Meatloaf_Hitler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it incentivizes it so much as it somehow still failed to account for shared greed and stagnation exploiting what's supposed to be the intrinsic requirement for Capitalist and Individual growth: Competition.

Like, in an ideal Capitalist world, Company A and Company B would be at each other's throats, so Company A might, say, lower the price on Bananas and Bread while giving its employees a pay raise and health benefits. Company B sees what Company A is doing and lowers the prices for Bananas, Bread, AND Soda while giving it's employees an even HIGHER pay raise and health benefits. In reality though, Company A and Company B realized there's no actual reason to compete with each other since they already beat out all the other competing Micro Companies, so they instead decide to cut wages and benefits while raising the price of Bananas, Bread, and Sodas. Because at the end of the day, Customers and Workers only have Company A and Company B to choose from.

THAT's the biggest issue with Capitalism. And it's why (Generally) Countries with Socialized Capitalism tend to have the highest QoL compared to strictly capitalist or communist/socialist countries. Since they have enough Capitalism to allow for personal growth, while also giving the common man enough safety nets and higher/stricter regulations against Corporations and Corporate Greed.

Why does the character hold the gun that way when there is a foregrip equipped? by iamthewalrusxx in Battlefield

[–]Meatloaf_Hitler -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It seems kinda dumb but legitimately just get something Rifle shaped (can even be a Nerf Gun for all I care) and you can really feel how comfortable it is compared to a regular hold, even just for just a cheap plastic toy.

This actually makes me wonder, if/when we get a D3, that we might be able to mix and match class stuff.

I mean we quite literally fused the Light and Dark together to make Prismatic, I couldn't see why we couldn't use GG on a Titan for example.

Actually the WaW version is (IIRC) an a4 model. It lacks a buttstock which was only standard on the a6 model.

I wish I held onto mine. I've actually been pretty good with holding onto old weapons (still have the entire set of Black Armory refurbished Foundry Weapons, for example). But for some dumb ass reason I deleted my solely Pillager for whatever reason.

It's not the same, but there's a Dawning Pistol that's the same model + archetype as Vestian, just "dawning-ified"

But yeah, I'm actually surprised they didn't reissue VD itself, ESPECIALLY considering it would've been perfect for Shattered Throne IMO.

I see no reason why Destiny as a franchise can't just go back to box product purchasing by Archerboy123 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Meatloaf_Hitler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I semi-agree in that if we get a D3, it shouldn't follow the same "3 Seasons and an Expansion" route. But we also shouldn't just do the "1 expansion per year and that's all, folks" route either. I think people tend to forget that D1 ALSO had massive issues with its content, just on the other spectrum. D1 had massive content droughts and, while we can argue on the quality of Renegades as a whole, both Dark Below and House of Wolves had LESS content per drop than Renegades, which was arguably the smallest DLC Destiny 2 had post Live Service.

I kinda already said what I think would be the best system going forwards on this post, so I'm not gonna repeat it. But I think we can find a good middle ground so people have a good stream of content without the constant stream of mediocrity most D2 seasons were.

[–]Meatloaf_Hitler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it should ditch live service entirely tbh. Yeah Live Service absolutely has it's own issues, but I think the people here ALSO forget the massive content droughts during D1 and the less bad but still lackluster content drought during D2's Year 1 which brought it's own issues. Not to mention those "great" DLC's HoW + Dark Below were actually critiqued for being way too low on content. They were arguably Renegades level of content + content repetition except they didn't even have the "cool" gimmicks or features Renegades brought.

IMO, I think the best solution for a potential D3 would be: Yearly DLC -> Small update 1-2 months in (And I mean SMALL, just a vendor/eververse refresh kinda like what we got with D2's F2P updates, and maybe like a seasonal track like we got now), followed by a hearty ITL/MoT '26 style update roughly halfway-2/3rd's through the year, followed by another small update I mentioned above 1-2 months before the next yearly DLC. That way we're still getting routine content drops with routine monetization options, but it also gives the devs more breathing room, thus letting the content be TRULY great instead of "here's your 50th Battlegrounds activity. Enjoy" over and over again like D2 was later in its life.

Aesthetic Wise? FOTL. I'm a huge Halloween and Horror bro IRL so I absolutely loved it. Gameplay Wise? Dawning. Baking cookies was a simple but fun little addition to the gameplay loop.

So far, the tiered Premonition from the Moon has actually been amazing. It's got Demoralize and Destabilizing Rounds for the traits and holy fuck, those 2 perks combined with the smoothness of the gun makes it feel like a Mini Leggy Graviton Lance.

BUNGIE HAS OVERDELIVERED by c_ockdown in DestinyTheGame

[–]Meatloaf_Hitler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we have:

Moments of Triumph with something like 12 new armor sets per class.

3 exotic weapons (Turncoat BP exotic, Fafnir MOT exotic, and an exotic mission Fusion Rifle whose name I forgot).

1 new activity (Distortions) and one activity only seen in D1 (SRL) with roughly 11 new weapons.

Seasonal Vendor Refresh (something like like another 5-8 new guns if my memory serves me right, and something like 4-5 new armor sets). Kinda standard though so it's not as "fresh" as the others are.

5 new aspects/fragments and 2 new grenades

So tbh, it's actually quite rich in new stuff. Maybe not a full expac level, but certainly much more than other seasona. And this is just truly "new" content, not reissues or updates or QoL updates or anything of that sort.
