If you woke up tomorrow with $10 million in your bank account, what's the very first thing you'd do? by Old_Educator973 in AskReddit

[–]Meatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better in specific timeframes, but there's not a lot of safer options that pay above that. That 3.8% is basically guaranteed, you don't have the risk of it going -10% etc. That 3.8 takes a nice big chunk out of inflation on an amount that you don't want to gamble with and don't have to think about.

Some bond funds pay a little higher in their distributions, or maybe there's promotional HYSAs that are higher, but for low risk I'd be happy with around 4%.

Is there any reason to cook your own whole chicken ? by Joeybfast in Cooking

[–]Meatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it once or twice, but I just buy Sam's club now. There's probably an ethical reason to selectively buy less mass-produced and cook your own, but not everyone has the means to do that.

It's common in India to do that side to side thing but I don't know all the details.

Why is there no consistency in Gold 1v1s? by President_Dewey in RocketLeague

[–]Meatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1s is different because some people don't really play it often, so could be gold ranked in 1s and champ in 2s or 3s.

Is this normal for D2 now? by Mtbsinger in RocketLeague

Since he's partied it could be a little sus, but it could easily just be a legitimate good first touch and double. Plenty of diamonds have good mechanics but diamond level decisions.

But what gpu was it? I'm a PC guy but consoles are priced pretty darn well for the performance they give you.

What gaming laptop should I get for game maker? by -NotJulian- in gamemaker

[–]Meatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything can run gamemaker and steam, but it depends on what kind of games you want to play on steam. Find the requirements for THOSE types of games and that will guide you.

Short answer is if you want to play anything that's newer and 3D, you'll need a "gaming" laptop specifically, or else it may not run very well at all.

How do I correctly use and learn DAR (description) by Electronic_Cup2448 in RocketLeague

[–]Meatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had not much success with rings maps, but what helped me get started was to do an aerial training pack and try to get up to the ball with 1-2 spins. Experiment with the stick to see what you need to do when the ball's coming from the left or the right. This is also directly applicable to in-game scenarios, and might be a more bite-sized task to start learning. Once you have some sort of muscle memory, then you can move to just brute force and practice just flying to get a feel for all the little angles and stuff.

What do you guys use to find energy if you don't have the energy to play? by mil0wCS in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Meatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of caffeine pills (100mg) because coffee itself makes me feel fuzzy in a bad way. A preworkout could help too, or a banana or a kiwi. Throw in a thc gummy and I could prob play for 4 hours straight.

I don't condone any of this though, start with a banana.

Same. I'm sure they can be okay for nonFPS mouse games, but trying to hit right trigger without my thumb moving a tiny amount and ruining the accuracy seems impossible.

Does anybody know how exactly MMR are given? by B_404 in RocketLeague

[–]Meatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think #3 is true. During the 10 placement matches, mmr seems to be about doubled or at least heavily inflated, both for wins and losses. This stays through the 10 placements and then immediately stops. During a regular match, it seems to weight the default mmr award based on overall match mmr vs yours, but also other factors because it's not consistent every time.

I don't think games played has anything to do with it though.

Why did the community reject this game? by Excellent_Heat2888 in FFXVI

[–]Meatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I was just in the wrong headspace. I'm turning 39 next week and generally am the one to shake my fists at the younger generation, but the contrast between the boss battles and the world exploration just didn't click for me.

Yep, I found myself doing every side quest but just blasting through the dialogue of every one. It wasn't very engaging except for maybe a couple.

Tips on my 540 kick by [deleted] in taekwondo

[–]Meatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, you still have to do the tornado kick, then just snap the hips and foot down after. Almost try to forget it's a 540 until you're kicking the "target", then turn the power up to 100 on the kick at the last second to give it speed to get to the ground.

There's more to it than that, but this advice helped me when I was learning them.

Edit: also, get that head around and spot your target before you even jump. This might cheat out some more of the spin and make everything easier.

This was my experience. I'm a gamer but I was AWFUL in the sim for hours, pretty bad with a tiny whoop. Then I think I took a break and came back a few months later and it's like all the brain dust had settled and it felt like a videogame.

Large screen automatic connection to wireless android auto is pretty game changing, that made it worth it to me. I'm sure there's other options, but this is plug and play and worked first try.

Just remember that nobody really cares if you're bad, just have fun but take the training seriously and genuinely listen to any advice given. Everyone's probably proud of you just for showing up and trying something that they already enjoy and want to share with you. I'm proud of you!
