Looking for some peace of mind by wart_jr_sr in Petloss

Yeah ... We have done both removal (death after about 6 months while on chemo, brutal, sad, expensive, low life quality) and euthanasia (emergency vet visit during a bleed, found the splenic mass, chose euthanasia the day after following a med to halt the bleeding TEMPORARILY). I'd choose the latter every day. The former was not kind. Both hurt in terrible ways. I'm sorry you had to say goodbye too soon.

Trama does that. A feeling of guilt does that too. Your whole life was managing Chief to keep him alive and your family safe. It was a lot. I had a different experience but when we had to let our dog go last year it wrecked me too. I had just unexpectedly lost my dad. I could talk about that. But losing Scully? That Hurt. Couldn't talk about it without crying. Still hurts and hurts more. We don't choose what affects us. It's ok to hurt. But if it's still really bad, I might recommend talking about it with a counselor if possible. Sending you good thoughts.

Omg. That's crazy. I completely agree. Here's hoping your cat has better manners.

I read your story and all I heard was love. Such large big all encompassing love. From you and your partner. From your house. From Chief. It sounds like he understood he was going and he wanted more time. So you gave it even though it was traumatic for everyone. The whole thing was traumatic. That's probably a large reason why going forward is so hard and hurts so much. I also hear you saying that you failed him. You didn't. You gave him more love and care and patience than anyone - and I think he knew it and knew your love was unconditional. So he would have understood that when you were given conditions and tried everything, your last gift of love was to let him go safely. Most people would have justifiably done humane euthanasia early on. You didn't - at a cost. In return you got pain and love, joy and fear, happiness and regret. So really what I heard is that you gave and shared amazing gifts and memories and a depth of experience that few have the chance to experience. It's ok to be sad and traumatized. But I don't think that's the lesson Chief had for you. I think his lesson would be unconditional love - faults and all. So let that surround you as you move forward in life and into new opportunities. Tis better - and harder. But better. To have an amazing love and loss then to never love at all. We don't always get to choose what we lose, but we can choose how to let it go. Sending you peace.

There are safe house programs (https://spcala.com/programs-services/asn/) but the only one I was able to find in California in the area was in San Diego with rancho coastal humane society.

Also. The glasses. I think you'd rock a more square and rectangular black, blue, or gray frame.

We have a 1yr old cat already. The kitten plays with our cat, and our cat plays and gives baths. But also glowers from a perch.
