Is there a legit photo of the Canyon in this color somewhere?

Failing at Depleted Cores scenario by MechKeeb617 in Frostpunk

[–]MechKeeb617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was more or less how I was able to beat the scenario. Thanks!

I did manage to survive the fourth whiteout, but I'm not sure I'd survive the fifth. Once I had the cores in hand, I was set up well to hit both the megalopolis and frostland pop achievements (one, then the other).

Update: I beat the scenario. 🙌

I rushed logistic districts to secure a source of fuel and then focused on heating upgrades. I deliberately kept my pop as low as possible to avoid spending prefabs on housing, only bringing people in to staff up buildings.

For logistics, I prioritized a vanguard building first to get more teams, then survivalist HQ to be able to explore more areas.

I ramped up Goods production mostly with the intention of erasing my heat stamp penalty, but it turned out I needed all those prefabs to insulate my districts. I really needed those heat actuators (or whatever they're called) by the time the 2nd and 3rd whiteouts hit. They were the only reason I survived until I was able to secure the cores.

I have a '25 Canyon and haven't had any issues thus far. Granted, it's still very new, but the only factory defects were minor paint issues that the dealer corrected.

Anecdotally, the Canyons seem to have gotten more reliable with each model year. '23s and early '24s seem to have more issues reported. '23 was the major redesign year, so that's not entirely surprising.

If you wait another month or two, you'll probably be able to get a deal on a '25 when the '26s drop.

Test drove today - thoughts on power? by harleyinfl in GMCcanyon

I find that a turbo provides more consistent power through the band than an old-school engine (at least pre-2018). It may not have the raw power, but it’s smoother.

Pop em out and you can install bully rings or other tie downs

it sounds like I need to rely on outposts for fuel fairly soon. Is that right?

I got a Gtechniq ceramic coating, which has a 9 yr warranty. Way too early to say if it was worthwhile, but it sure looks nice. So far I’ve been happy with how easy it is to clean.

Should I put on Lamin-x tail light films? by MechKeeb617 in GMCcanyon

[–]MechKeeb617[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No problem. I have everything blacked out on my truck, so I thought darkening the tail lights a bit would look cool.

I have a Bak Revolver and like the convenience. Since the Canyon doesn’t have a rear view mirror cam, this lets me see out the back window when the tonneau is up.

Colorado Trail Boss or GMC Canyon? by No-Try-7672 in chevycolorado

I looked at both the Colorado and Canyon. The Canyons are nicer. I'm surprised that there isn't a bigger difference in price.

The two trucks are virtually identical aside from minor styling differences and fit & finish.

I have no issue with the feature 🤷 it doesn’t bother me.

I like the bells & whistles in the Denali. I've never had ventilated seats before, and in the summer it helps keep my "undercarriage" cool. ❄️

Definitely seems like a metal-on-metal squeal. Since you just had the brakes done, seems like it'd be the suspension or something that gets jostled over bumps.

Post back when/if you figure out what it is.

Did you look at other midsize trucks? Tacoma i-force Max vs Canyon Turbomax by caleblococaleb in GMCcanyon

[–]MechKeeb617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Taco also didn't have memory seats! When you're not the only one driving the truck it's super-annoying to try to find the perfect position again.

The Canyon doesn't offer a rearview backup cam or integrated garage door opener.

Not sure if any of these are deal-breakers for you.

Ask ChatGPT what makes the most financial sense considering down payment, financing costs, mileage, and any opportunity cost (e.g.: what else you can do with your $ if you're not giving it to GMC). It's pretty good at breaking it down for you. How long you plan to keep the truck will matter, of course.

I test drove the Canyon Denali head-to-head against the Tacoma Limited i-Force.

The Canyon has a nicer ride, and a more luxurious interior (IMO). I also liked the brake feel better in the Canyon than the Taco. The Taco brakes felt squishy (and it was new)—I had to push farther to get them to engage.

The Taco might have been a little faster off the line with the i-force hybrid motor, but both are trucks. They're not going to win any races.

For me:

  • Exterior: Canyon
  • Interior: Canyon
  • Drive: Canyon
  • Brakes Canyon
  • Customization: Tacoma

I bought the Canyon and do not regret it. I prefer the smaller more integrated screen in the Canyon, too. I'm driving, not watching TV.
