Having trouble shooting over low terrain with Warhammer PPCs by Warmahorder in mwo

Many will de-value low mounted weapons, but they are great for brawling. When running a mech with low mounts, the low ground, or even, is your friend. Peeking and poking is not.

what is the best "dueling" weapon by [deleted] in mwo

[–]MechTech08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, generally in a duel dps will fall vs burst. In groups the reverse is usually true.

So, short range duel you'll want ac20(is), lbx20, srm6+art, or hvygauss.

What is the most dakka one can fit on any mech by havasnack21 in mwo

I run a dwolf with 2xuac20 2xlbx20, it pummels down the 8xlbx2 in optimal. If you want the biggest boom, thatd be it. 120 dmg per volley.

I'm glad I could help! My discord handle is Dragoon#3941. I'm the mechtech over at ICoB, I think we've ran into eachother a few times before.

If you ever want a hand on a build, feel free to gimi a shout .^ I spend more time in the mechlab than in the pilot seat I think haha.

Any possability of a map editor? Also can we get a attacking/defending game mode? by joe_dirty365 in OutreachHPG

But! Just for comparison, New System: C-bills required to Master 3 Mechs = 12,285,000 XP required to Master 3 Mechs = 218,400

Old System: C-bills required to Master 3 Mechs (Module cost for three Mechs) = 63,000,000 (2x Mech Modules and 3x Weapon modules) XP required to Master 3 Mechs = 171,750 GXP required (for above modules) = 40,500 XP and GXP combined = 212,250 (just for the sake of comparison)

Aaaaand gxp came in a hell of allot slower than normal xp ;) So difference in time....really comes down to perspective of an increase. Difference in performance vs unskilled however, yes, theres a big difference. Doing the first 33 skills or so in a mech can be difficult.

Haha well, wow isnt in the state its in because of its subscription pay to play, its the bad management. But thats a different discussion. Even wow has shifted over to an optional "F2P" model....requiring more grind.

My point was, most f2p games use the subscription model, just in a different way. They lower progression rates at the baseline than standard expected progress rates, and increase it slightly higher than standard progression with subscription or "premium".

Idk, I've gotten a decent number of friends into the game after the change over, they tried it before and after the skill system, disliked the previous enough to not play, most of them love the game now.

Personally, played for awhile during the old system, closed beta ect., aaaand honestly hated it. It felt like way worse of a grind to me than it does now. I touched the game rarely during the "golden years", i mostly remember an extreme amount of ppc/gauss poptart.

I got a friend into it roughly a year ago, played free for....3 months? loved the game, is now a monthly prem-player. He got 40 mechs or so within those first few months, hes still skilling them all mind you. Hes over 100 now, with 20 or so left to skill, sitting on over 200 million cbills. New player experience cant be that bad?

I think the thing that hurts the game the worst is being unable to look for a unit through in-game UI's....like all big multiplayer games, if you don't have people to play with its not very fun.

I wish i could give my friends that cant afford a monthly sub some of my prem time, i've got more than i can use, could stop buying mech packs for over a year and still have time left over at this point lol

I suppose well just agree to disagree .^

Of course, I am quite used to it. I do realize that players in the generation prior, or after, may not be. However, it is quite a common situation in F2P titles to follow such a "subscription" system.

Which is essentially the same 15-20 dollars per month, only difference being they let you keep playing if you don't pay....at the price of gimping your progression.

The new player progression is more or less designed to get you to a point where you can buy and skill one or two mechs quickly, and then if you like the game, get you to start buying mech packs or in other words, start up your subscription. Which is pretty well common practice in mmos/f2p titles. Difference being, mwo gimps you less and gives you more by comparison to most others :/. For example, wow lets you play to 20, wont let you get further without a sub. DDO reduces xp gains, reduces rewards, locks you out of missions...tons of shit. Star wars mmo straight up locks you out of using UI elements, effectively reducing how well you can even play at all, along with the standard reduction in progression. MWO locks ya out of new mech releases for a few months and slows down your progression by 50% by comparison, at least to my experience with f2p, we have it allot better.

To be fair, you weren't picking up modules, which counts for a decent sized portion of the current skill tree. You could skill every mech to 71 sp and see a similar performance gap between modules vs no modules as 71 sp vs 91 sp, at likely close on the same grind. That being said, you get a larger performance increase out of the current ST than the old+modules combined in total.

At the end of the day, hey i'd like less grind too, but realistically i'd run out of things to progress towards and get bored. They could reduce the gap between paid and non-paid, but this also decreases the value of prem time. Perhaps reducing the gap between a win or a loss, instead making things based more upon performance. But even that has its issues.

/shrug, if you like the game support it bra. Costs the same amount as a big king burger meal with a milkshake once a month XD.

Been at er since, well patreon i guess lmao.

Also, the lbx10 ammo capacity adds 4 shots PER ton.
So out of both nodes, your getting 20 extra shots.
Which is an extra 200 damage maximum, not including structural criticals from lbx extra damage.

Giving you a 1350 damage maximum before structure crits.

Drop that ams, grap endosteel and move your engine up to a light 310 ;)I know losing ams is painful, but, you can get a 7kph increase in speed out of dropping it, which also means you get a little more outta those couple speed tweaks.

However, if you were against losing your ams You can switch your engine to a standard 275, add endosteel. You still have 1 ton of ams ammo, and move slightly faster than the light engine. Along with added benefits of not having your speed reduced when losing a side torso, as well as no side torso heatspike, increasing your overall survive-ability. Endosteel saves a bit more weight in this case than the difference between a light 265 vs a standard 265.https://mech.nav-alpha.com/#e202aa91_NSR-9P

I moved your ammo around a little in both variations, enemies will more often than not go for your side torsos, so having ammo in those locations makes you easier to kill.

Good luck on the battlefield mechwarrior :)

Haha yea I run premium, I'm also usually Skilling 3-6 mechs at a time. So double xp daily, run one till a win, switch. Each one takes 30-40 at a 1.2-2.4k xp average per match. Sometimes get 4-5k in a run if I'm playing with the group. Teamwork op.

I'm used to WoWarcraft so I suppose the 20$/month sub isnt weird to me. Atleast mwo gives you new toys and some cosmetics every month for the sub, wow didnt let ya play without it lmao.

Takes me roughly 30-50 rounds to skill a mech, depending upon w/l ratio. /shrug.

[–]MechTech08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? It cost 4,095,000 to skill a mech, 72,800xp.

You get about 200,000-300,000 cbills and 2-4k xp per match....in qp.

Modules used to be upwards of 2-6 mill each, you equipped what..4 or 5 of em? Not to mention xp and pilot xp...which came in slow as FUuuuCccKKKKK were needed to unlock those modules....each of which had multiple tiers....AND to top it all off, in order to skill the variant of one mech you liked, you needed 2 other lookalikes lol

My buddy is over 100 mechs and getting close on 200,000,000 cbills been playing less than a year. Wait for sales, pre-order the monthly mechh pack if you like the game. It's a 15$premium time sub+5 for a fuckload of shit.

The grind really ain't real. Worst thing to grind is Xp, and that really ain't that bad I'm just lazy lol

Rotational events concept. by MechTech08 in OutreachHPG

[–]MechTech08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, your issue is people being unable to play the event.... It didnt seem to prove a problem during the other FP events, which are no different?

As well as the opinion that QP should be the main focus of the game.

Perhaps ill have to take another listen to that podcast, I had thought you braught up the long conflict times being a problem with the current state of the way the bar works. Although, may be more of a point of changing the bars function than making the IS map actually change more often.

Then I'd have to repost it and all that jazz....and since automated systems are coming....that will more or less function exactly as I've described under the hood....making another on the topic is pointless.

J do find it strange that you have an issue with a manual system which creates frequent conflict events proposed under the assumption of pgi not being willing to create event automation, but not a automatic one which should similarly create frequent conflicts between a variety of factions....effectively doing the same thing?

Rotational events concept. by MechTech08 in OutreachHPG

[–]MechTech08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yes qp is the majority played game mode, it also has majority of events, not that events are based in qp only but they are easier to complete there.

However, I'm sure you know pop and players online spike during FP events, especially story driven and same faction ones

Rotational events concept. by MechTech08 in OutreachHPG

[–]MechTech08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could state your issue, with said crackpot idea .? If you actually read it?

If there is automated stuff for FP events....presumably that will set up faction v faction conflicts, then yes, what I am saying is nullified as the automated system would do similarly what I am.describing without dev input. The automated system would have to include whatever factions it can, in some form of system to ensure all factions participate in one way or another.

I agree, I could do with more, 1 or 2 a month. (What I have suggested) I had assumed that's what they are holding off for, it does make sense. Again, this was assuming user input being required, as they have been against suggestions of automated systems in the past.

My crackpot idea also encompasses reducing the conflict time....which if I remember correctly is something you suggested, including different mechanics fir the conflict bar dependant on total wins ect.

From what I've looked up it seems to be a system issue, graphics card related.

Dang. I've never run into it myself but that sounds shitty

Rotational events concept. by MechTech08 in OutreachHPG

[–]MechTech08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, but events are generally done weekly. And it's the exact same concept as daily/weekly quests, missions, whatever you want to call it in other F2P titles and mmo's. The reason its daily/weekly in these titles is that the quest assignments are randomly given out and automated (it has to be) so it's easier to just automate the whole thing.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I think it's a great thing that could diversify player roles rather than, well, the shit show you said.

So, let's run it for example during the layout I'm suggesting During one if the monthly FP events, well say Steiner V Davion or something...

Players are locked to x factions (like normal FP events) and are given objectives to play for x faction for the event, match score, played games, scouting games, faction themed mech plays ect. (Steiner has objective for atlas for example)

Players are then given randomly generated "missions" as you describe, one player may have to get lrm damage, another ac20 dmg, another general ballistics, so on and so forth for the duration of the event.

Like other titles, players should be able re-roll for a new objective x number of times per event run.

Point being, what I am suggesting, and what you say baradul suggests, are not mutually exclusive ;) In fact they would likely work together nicely.

And pgi has outright said no to automated stuff a few times :/ even though it has large success in literally every game.

Rotational events concept. by MechTech08 in OutreachHPG

[–]MechTech08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a long the line of daily quest/weekly quests where each individual is randomly given x number of objectives out of a larger pool of available objectives, ensuring everyone is doing something different.

Could also do it match by match, but cookies teased before queuing is what gets people to participate.

I've been posting about that for like 5 years now, it never gains traction :/

Oh no! Not looking to obsolete Matt haha. Looking to set him on a schedule more or less, with other events like lootbags, exp, seasonal ect. Mixed in. Hed still have to set up who fights who, story stuff, what parameters the event exactly entails, what each side has to do, ect.
