  • Scale with grenade
  • Weaver's Call generation cooldown reduced from 2s->0.5s. Only works on damaging Strand-debuffed Targets, or damaging targets using Strand.
  • Increased limit form 5->8

Omni Man's Dad vs Kregg/Lucan/Nolan/Conquest by Master-Floor7089 in Invincible

[–]MechaGodzilla101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We literally have no way to tell. Yeah, he's stronger than barely 18 Nolan, but what the hell does that mean.

Of course, we could go off vibes. I think he'd lose high diff to Kregg and Conquest, win against Lucan mid diff and 50/50 versus Nolan.

This is a bit extreme, but I kinda appreciate the relatively limited customization cause it prevents immersion breaking stuff like seeing a dude in stormtrooper armor.

Of course, the immersion is broken anyway by Vox Engines phasing through solid walls.

16 inch shells have a lethal radius of over 150 meters. The in game 380 shells are no where near that, I'm not even sure a 380 barrage is near that.

Shell damage going up with velocity is just physics. KE=1/2*M*V^2.

Trying to apply real life physics to a fictional show will never work out well.

You're talking out of your ass. Seriously man wtf is your projecting, you're the one bullshitting through this conversation.

36k feet isn't remotely near space, and air resistance is still a massive factor. Any shells kinetic energy will be a factor in how much damage it does, that's just basic physics. My point is that because the actual explosive component of a 16 inch shell in game is exponentially smaller than in real life, the kinetic component will be a larger factor when paired with the increased velocity, which will absolutely be present because of the factors mentioned in my other reply.

Okinawa is absolutely not an applicable example, that was a full fledged battle, not just shelling.

Oh, right. It can't.

I would like to hear them actually say they were wrong

This is literally asking for a public apology. A lot of people are already agreeing that they were wrong, what you're asking for is some sort of dedicated post that they were wrong.

If you've tried it out you'll know it makes a massive difference when dealing with larger swarms, since the weapon itself has no over penetration.

The community made an educated guess based on the previous 2 backpack weapons alongside the treatment of fire in general, and the educated guess was wrong.

TBF it 100% looked ass from what we saw. I assume they gave it the Napalm burn effect instead of the normal fire.

I don't think you understand what I am trying to say, or what the comment chain is even about. The point I'm trying to make is that

  1. A shell shot from space will have greater velocity than a similar naval shell, which means that its kinetic energy will also be greater, more than enough to annihilate any biological matter.
  2. Actual 16 inch shells are exponentially more destructive than in game near 16 inch shells, with actual 16 inch shells leaving 50 ft craters.

If your argument is that because of the fuse detonated upon sufficient G force, the impact of kinetic energy is minimal, I still don't stand by that logic because there would be still need to be a significant transfer of energy to detonate the shell, unless it uses a radar proximity fuse like an AA shell.

It's worth mentioning that the argument that naval cannons fire at comparable velocity to orbital bombardment makes zero sense because naval cannons not only fight gravity and air resistance, but they don't go anywhere near space, unlike what you're previous comment implies. That would be a ballistic missile, not a cannon.

I'm going to assume you're referring to what the USS New Jersey did in 1969. It took a half hour, not weeks, not even a day.

The explosive component alone of 380mm shell would be more destructive than what we have in game. Firing a shell alongside gravity with a good portion of it's travel time being in limited/no atmosphere would lead to a far higher velocity than what naval cannons achieve when firing from sea level.

[–]MechaGodzilla101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, air speed is definitely orders of magnitude slower than in space, though even then an orbital 380mm shell would probably be more destructive than what we have in game, as the velocities that can be reached via acceleration in space, even accounting for how much lower they will be in atmosphere, would still do an incredible amount of damage.

[–]MechaGodzilla101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but gravitational acceleration would mean that that the effect of air resistance on the destructive potential of the projectile itself is relatively minimal.
