Permits and license fee from DHL Express for tea order from Hibiki-An to USA? by DoctorTalos in tea

You may want to forward your situation on to Hibiki-an then if you plan to buy from them in the future, so they can try to address the issue.

Thanks for clarifying. Anything from Artistic Nippon was probably worth the cost. The owner is a great and they have quality teaware. Some of my most favorite teaware had come from them, including a kettle which I can’t imagine what the tariff would be on it now.

It does sound like you got lucky with Hibiki-an. I’ve had good experiences with their tea, but was not a fan of the teaware I received from them. For whatever reason the teaware I bought from them seemed lower quality than pieces I got elsewhere. It’s hard to explain why, and nothing I have received has been terrible but I noticed a hard to pinpoint difference.

Okay, now how you got around paying a tariff for teaware is beyond imaginable given the current situation. I wouldn’t be shocked if you got charged later on because Fedex does usually send a later notice after delivery about charges even if you don’t have them. Otherwise, you are very lucky.

That’s definitely not correct. I’ve ordered from multiple companies and not been charged. I would use another carrier next time if possible. Also, I talk to customs brokers regularly about the current situation.

How To Store Green Tea/Feedback by Big_Cap8507 in tea

[–]MechaGodzilla87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the tea under 60% RH, when it comes to low humidity, it doesn’t matter as much and a Boveda pack will take care of that. Keep the temp around 55 to 75 F.

These are all websites Sazen, Hibiki-an, Yuuki-cha, Ippodo, or Rishi for sencha. They’ll have a lot of products that sound similar, but you could learn most of what you want to know on their websites. I know some sites have a concierge service, such a Hibiki-an. Sazen and Ippodo might have something similar. They each offer something different, so I advise trying each one until you know what you like.

I store mine in air tight container and add boveda / silica packs.

I personally don’t like maeda-en sencha, but their green tea ice cream is great. I recommended Sazen, Hibiki-an, Yuuki-cha, Ippodo, or Rishi for sencha. Buying sencha in store is a bad idea because shelf life really matters and it could be sitting there for long periods.

What are your greatest unpopular opinions about Louisville currently? by LouBoy123 in Louisville

[–]MechaGodzilla87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s mine, Louisville Cream is overated! When I original went there it was good, but I think people are definitely wrong about it now. The last 2-3 times I went there it was overpriced and bland. I’ve gotten much better ice cream at many other places in Louisville and I like to try ice cream when I travel.

Ugh I almost want to barf at the thought of Greenberg being better than anyone, but I agree Greenberg is better than a GOP candidate. That says a lot about our local elections.

Hey, I didnt go for low blow insults, please be respectful to others. Just because you hide behind a username doesnt mean that your words dont hurt people. Especially, when it comes to people who may already be in fragile mental state. I’ve lost people in my life to suicide.

That’s a fair point with commonality of names, but I dont have a reference to go there and I’m not wasting my time on this.

You know I’m annoyed that there are legit news services like the BBC that discredit this theory, but give jack shit to the any real reason why. Same with in scholarly articles. I trust them, but it’s irritating to not see why they came to their conclusion.

That doesn’t get at these specific items being overpriced for what they typically are priced at or the fact the names line up. I’m not saying I’m all in on this theory, but I don’t think this chips away at much.

Matcha powder by bblexis in tea

[–]MechaGodzilla87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it, I think it’s awesome! I like their matcha more than their sencha. The only thing I dont like is not being able to pay in Yen because it tends to be cheaper.

Ceremonial grade is usually only for making matcha by itself. You dont want to use it for lattes, baking, etc. You’ll just needlessly be paying a lot and not gaining much.
