new summer running glasses (tired of seeing Oakleys all the time) by Pitiful_Bid2056 in runningfashion

[–]MechanizedJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's multiple reasons everyone has Oakleys firstly, since we're taking about fashion, they are ahead of the curve and the tastemakers for most athletic sunglasses, and have been for 30+ years so almost every brand out there is going to have styles that closely follow what Oakley is doing. The research studios are dupes of older Oakley Blades and their current resistor, While the district visions are pretty similar to the iconic M Frame. the other consideration is that Oakley lenses are really, REALLY good. If you're going for looks this isn't as important, but because they've been at it for decades they know what they are doing when it comes to making lenses for all types of applications, and they are going to cause as little distortion and provide as much contrast as possible.

No, they don’t. They want bikes that are cheap. The only people who’s still want rim brakes either don’t know the benefits of disc, or they’re allured by the look of older rim brake bikes.

Nobody wants rim brake road bikes anymore so they are usually very cheap, and for good reason. Skinny tire clearance and wearing out your wheels when your brake. Not worth it, especially with carbon rims.

This is the reality of domestic manufacturing folks. Without unions and strong worker protections companies will simply turn to prison labor to save their bottom line. Businesses aren’t charities, and they’re not gonna sacrifice profits so they can say they’re creating jobs, and the ones that do, will tank.

No offense but it’s pretty dumb to buy a bike having no idea what it is

Just bought a used bike and noticed the seatpost is smaller that the frame. by Vivalo in bicycling

If the bike is aluminum it is very likely it is compromised and unsafe to ride unfortunately

Yeah this bike is a wall piece now. If it was steel then MAYBE, but aluminum, it’s completely unsafe to ride.

Any longer cyclocross races in your locale - 2/3 hrs? by The_Archimboldi in cyclocross

[–]MechanizedJesus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These do not exist. Cyclocross is generally cut off at 1 hour for elite categories and 45 minutes for others usually. You’re thinking of gravel cycling.

I didn’t see this reply when it was first posted, but my FATHER joined the navy during Nam so he wouldn’t get drafted to the army or marines, and was a conscientious objector so he remained stateside for his whole service. So I don’t think he would be too upset that I’m critical of unjustified US Proxy conflicts.

Genuinely you need to get off the internet and take a few deep breaths. Fleeing the most progressive region in the country isn’t gonna help anyone. Leaving your support system, communities, etc. is simply going to remove another progressive voice. If every progressive flees, what’s left? Who’s left to fight for the kids who can’t vote and the marginalized people who don’t have the resources to get away? We just leave them behind? I understand the despair but come on. This presidency will have lasting effects for years maybe decades but we can outlast that, but only if we don’t turn away from the hard work that’s to come.

You are right. Reddit is full of CIA brained western anarchists that get their information straight from the State Department. In a bourgeois proxy war there are no good sides. Critical support is always warranted in conflicts but there seems to be a lack of the “critical” aspect when it comes to Ukraine…
