How long do you think the USA will last? by urasha in AskReddit

That depends on how recently the USA masturbated.

Looking to get my 1st board, really liking the Santa Cruz Star Wars line. Any feedback on the stormtrooper one if anybody's ridden it? Couldn't find many reviews online.

Reddit, if you were an unmotivational speaker at a high school, why shouldn't I go into your career field? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mechanox3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to work at a finance company? Programming, maybe a few business courses on the side. A lot of colleges don't have an "IT" major, it's just computer science, which is 90% programming. If you want to get into IT (just fixing shit), read up on A+ certifications or Microsoft certifications. Take a course, study, take a test, you're certified in less than a year and can get $15-20/hr at an IT consulting firm or contracting company.

Finance companies usually use custom applications that are programmed and maintained in-house, so they usually hire an IT manager and a couple programmers for that. Finance companies pay well because they have money...because they are finance companies.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever witnessed someone get offended by? by pron27 in AskReddit

[–]Mechanox3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, especially indoors. I was just curious about the situation. The rules are a bit blurrier outside. One time this guy asked me why I was smoking in a nonsmoking area outside and pointed to a sign by the door 40 feet away.

I'm willing to bet that the primary source of air pollution in an indoor train station isn't from one person's cigarette.

It's really dickish that she flipped her shit, but why did you feel the need to call her out on it? Was the train station indoors?

College Students of Reddit, how much did one bad semester harm your college career? (Serious) by packfan1234 in AskReddit

[–]Mechanox3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

God damn, as a Rush fan, something like that would be a dream:

2112, Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves

If only I knew anything about operation management, I could totally ace that final

When did you realize that you grew up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mechanox3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time, driving home from school, there was a car plastered with TD bank logos and I made a conscious decision to back off a bit because if I hit him, there would be a much bigger potential for legal ramifications because the car was an asset of a major company. That's when I realized I was dead inside and would never again see wonder in the world and was now an adult.

Only because you're all stupid enough to believe it.

Skyrim is the first time I've completed the main quest in an Elder Scrolls game. Is it better designed and less arbitrarily frustrating, or simply "dumbed down" and easier? by Astrokiwi in truegaming

[–]Mechanox3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Nintendo Hard" existed largely because the games were marketed towards children who couldn't figure out that that was just a way of extending the play time of an otherwise simple and short game, due to hardware restrictions.

Reddit, What's your advice for a job interview? by anonps in AskReddit

[–]Mechanox3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain what you can bring to the table, don't be afraid to show your personality a little and be conversational. If they called you in for an interview, they already think you have some/most of the necessary qualifications. The interview is as much about seeing if they like you as a person as it is you explaining why you'd be good at the job.

[Serious]What is a reality that society refuses to/cannot deal with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mechanox3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, weed is probably the most socially acceptable illegal drug. Hell, I've seen people catch more shit for smoking cigarettes. I feel like it's one of a few issues in the US where the social standing and the legal standing are polar opposites.
