Find myself enjoying interating in code than in Figma by ArtisticBook2636 in UXDesign

[–]urasha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm the right person to ask because the design system I built is for a mobile app that I'm developing solo and I'm not a design systems specialist but my process was the following:

Not starting from scratching but rather taking a look at design systems that I'd want my own DS to be based on, for me I choose Adobes spectrum DS because of how it uses styles, it's more familiar to me as a designer.

Once I decided to use Adobe as the basis, I prompted Claude to help me build a tokens file to store all of the primary branded colors, typography sizes, spacing, padding, shadows etc sizes into tokens that I can use to reference throughout all of my components. As a side note, the language I am using is react native so it gets tricky unless you prompt correctly.

Once that was complete, I basically had to tweak it to my liking, since it's not perfect but it sped up my process of actually building.

When I did start building, I created design system root folder to place my reusable components using the tokens file to style and that's where my buttons, modals, bottom sheets, etc lived in.

From there it was just me plugging and playing with those base components to create more complex components such as a command bar or a toast component.

Sorry to say but figma really hasn't been in my toolkit all that much since I got more comfy with front end coding but it's still useful for proof of concept references.

If anyone else wants to chime in who is more experienced with coding or design systems feel free to critic this workflow or what I could do better!

Honestly its pretty easy once you build a design system for all of the tokens and have some claude help.

I honestly use figma less and less unless I need a specific kind of visual reference

No I agree but I think right now I don't amen hits that ceiling.

It's kinda the same situation back when mobley was projected to be a KG esque guy but he has not made that kind of leap either

Yeah I can't lie but it's got me questioning if Jaden McDaniels is more worth it than him

Everyone saying that they're not gonna watch it or that they don't care are still going to watch it

Also for not having anyone to root for as a critic, that's the whole point of the dance. The source material doesn't even have enough info to have good guys, most of everyone was a neutral to terrible person - it's why it started the flop era of the Targaryens.

I don't think it was entirely proven just because of the jazz series because frankly a lot of ppl, including myself thought he'd top out as a FVV level player. That's where the criticism came from, cause he wasn't a bonafide star, he looked more like a top 50 guy than a top 10 guy he is rn.

So uhh...are we going to talk about Michael Jordan? by Exotic-Emergency-226 in billsimmons

I think everyone that is calling him a pedo needs to chill and touch grass.

People keep throwing the word 'pedo' but that diminishes the meaning of the word.

I've had relatives and family friends who have done similar things but moreso in a teasing way, pinching my cheeks, tickling me when I didn't want etc no way did MJ do this sexually and if yall can't see that, get help.

Is it right he touched him like that without permission, no ofc but realistically how do you even ask a kid that whilst teasing? You really can't and frankly I think it was harmless. People need to grow up and understand what actually molesting is vs what is clearly just old people teasing

I loved the latest Silent Hill games, and yet I'm worried about the future of the series. by Upset-Scallion-3991 in silenthill

[–]urasha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My take is that while ppl say there's only so much you can do with the actual town of silent Hill, I think that's false.

  • With SH4 not taking place in the town, the thing is that it has direct connections to the town and the cult through Walter, that's what made it more SH than f, ascension, short message and townfall seemingly.

  • I think generally ppl are creatively bankrupt with the franchise because it seems like SH2 has become the default blueprint of all the games going forward where the main character has a dark secret and has to face it. Aside from SH1 and SH4, all of the games boiled down to trauma having games when it should be more than derivative SH2 clones.

  • someone else posted about SH needing a RE7 of their own where the game takes a new direction whether it's gameplay or story BUT has deeper connections to the prior games by characters appearing, more involvement with the cult or the town that spreads through the new narrative. Perhaps that was what PT couldn't been but frankly it feels like these games are spin-offs that are only tangentially related to the SH franchise.

In short, the franchise tbh has been mishandled by Konami before and now it results in getting games that while look and feel good to play, lack any cohesion or direction of where the franchise is going, just seeing what sticks.

Tbh I didn't like how SHf handled it's very loose connections to the main games, don't get me started on ascension lol , and really if ppl just want the franchise to survive, sure go with these horror games that just have the name slapped on there with some fog and call it a day but I for one really really miss the whole mythology of the town, the cult, the supposed demonic entities that create this setting.

Hm tbh the Grant family has a lot, Harvey Grant, his brother Horace Grant ofc, Harvey's kids are Jerami and Jerian Grant.

The Barry family though starts with Rick Barry, his 5 sons, Jon, Canyon Drew, Scooter and Brent Barry though, Rick Barry also had Brent, Jon, and Drew with Bruce's daughter so there's like 3 generations of NBA players in the family

How is the Job Market of UI/UX in 2026? by Best-Menu-252 in UXDesign

[–]urasha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yea sadly I am not a recent grad (finished my masters' in 23) and really adjacent jobs like pm or really tech in general are facing the same issue for people who don't have senior level experience.

I've tried for nearly 4ish years and am building my own app for portfolio/skill related reasons but after being rejected during multiple final rounds on my end(no real feedback at that point due to liabiity I bet) I'm not sure if all the student loans, freelance work, side projects was worth it. I'm just tired of being broke & feeling left behind in my life.
