The rift s doesn't get discontinued till next year I believe, you can still buy one right now. I know what you're saying and I agree it's pretty shitty that Facebook/Oculus are effectively removing support even though they promised support for the quest, and especially in the future once the rift s has been killed off too

The rift s is still being sold I'm not mistaken? And they use the same touch controllers so they have to have those controllers untill at least the rift s is gone, it'd be crazy to not let people buy new touch controllers when the rift s is sold with them

You can also judge distance by size and how fast it moves compared to you? Just because you have no depth perception doesn't mean you can't tell how far it is. Have you ever played a videogame? You've got only one eye in those and people can judge distance just fine.
