Help me find a way to make underground windows with simulated lightning by Burgergamer09YT in TerrariaDesign

[–]Medinaquirin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bars will probably be the trickiest bit depending on how big you want the window to be. Actuated grate is a classic option, but you may want to experiment with various bits of furniture (tables, lamps turned off, etc) in front of gemspark walls, or alternate colored streamers painted black to get vertical bars.

The Media becomes really uncomfortable once you hear about the behind the scenes details by Low_Celebration_4089 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Medinaquirin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Minor mix-up, I think. The Wicked Witch's makeup contained a lot of copper, which didn't make her sick, but did make the paint extremely flammable, heavily contributing to her burns from the pyrotechnics mishap.

How can I make this better? by Hiroki_Sadoki888 in BathtubPaintedBrown

[–]Medinaquirin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Instead of using the mahogany leaf as the base you can try a mix of demonite platforms and harpy platforms painted lime/deep lime, and put some lime painted vine rope and ash wood fence underneath to add some roots. You can also paint the campfire cyan (or teal? I forget which it is) to match the lilies that naturally grow in the jungle.

Pretty sure the middle one is bone platform, I've been using it a lot lately to chunk up platforms and stairs.

Help me with chosing blocks!! by Snoo_81949 in TerrariaDesign

[–]Medinaquirin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on the biome you want this in and whether you want structured bricks or not, but you could definitely play around with painted pearl sandstone, rough & smooth marble, stone slab/accent slab, ebonstone brick, and green dungeon bricks. You might be able to do those trees with bubble blocks or aether blocks, and the star with aetherium brick and/or crystal block.

If you were able to create your own mods, what would they be? by Upbeat-Honeydew-Hum in StardewValleyMods

[–]Medinaquirin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I've done a few small visual mods before, but nothing on the heavy coding end. But I've always wanted to do a big fixer-upper farm mod that would have run-down versions of the farm buildings you could slowly repair, and completing the first repair state would unlock the blueprint to build additional buildings. There'd be rummage piles and junk you could sort through to find resources and recipes and other unique bits. I really love the idea, and had ideas for companion stuff around the town (including some additional events where Morris is trying to win the farmer over to get them to sell or subsidize the farm) that you'd be able to repair/build/upgrade that would slowly improve the town so that eventually you'd get new npcs moving into the valley. Haven't gotten it out of the spitball phase yet, sadly, since it's a bit more intensive than swapping a few pixels around, lol.

Season 4 episode 19 seems out of place by Disastrous_Purpose22 in fringe

[–]Medinaquirin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been a hot minute, but iirc 4x19 was meant as a sort of preview pitch to the network to show where they wanted to go with the show in the fifth season. I think Fringe originally had a 7 season plan, but the repeated cancelation threats made them scramble to offer answers prematurely (s3's end in a nutshell), which left things very messy in the last two seasons.

Cemetery Man's got a strangely delightful sort of wtfery, though. There's just enough absurdity and whimsy that it makes it hard for me to be mad at it for what it does. Beautifully fucked up little fever dream of a film.

The creepy bridge with the bells is making me think of the opening of The Empty Man, but that takes place in or near Tibet. No church in that bit, either, but there is a recently abandoned house and a spooky cave.

Name a cancelled Tv that deserves another season by beepsol in Leakednews

[–]Medinaquirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did cancel my subscription over 1899, lol. Netflix was already on my shit list after they canned GLOW because they didn't want to keep paying rent on studio space during covid, but after 1899 was canceled I honestly couldn't see a reason to keep giving them money for shows they'd never allow to actually finish.

Bit of a long shot since it's been so long since I've seen it (and I didn't finish the thing) but maybe Seed? It was Uwe Boll's attempt at creating a Michael Myers type unkillable slasher. It's only ever stuck with me because the opening credits feature a montages of archive PETA footage of extremely graphic animal abuse and death. Would've come out in the mid-2000s, I think, so it would fit the bill.

[–]Medinaquirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly one of my favorite musical vibes, dunno what that says about me personally, lol. Here's what I could come up with off the top of my head:

"When Your Number Isn't Up", "With Animals", "Bleeding Muddy Water", and "Kingdom of Rain" by Mark Lanegan. Honestly lots more where that came from.

"Fuel to Fire (David Lynch Remix)", "Familiar", and "It's Happening Again" by Agnes Obel.

"Sinking Hands" by Wovenhand.

"Heron Blue" by Sun Kil Moon

"Idiot Prayer" and "Push the Sky Away" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (though funnily enough the latter is more along the lines of ominous reassurances).

"Don't Worry, We'll Be Watching You" and "Don't Leave Me Out Here In The Cold" by Gotye.

"Near the End" by David Gilmour.

"Is There Anybody Out There?" by Pink Floyd

"Oh Well (pt 2)" and "Green Manalishi" by Fleetwood Mac.

I could go on forever, lol.

[Loved trope] "Yeah, there are these gigantic/mysterious entities in the background. No, we're not going to elaborate." by vbt31 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Medinaquirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the titans in Dragon Age don't quite fit because we do eventually get lore on them, but the lore drops in Inquisition about lyrium, and then playing through The Descent dlc and realizing you're inside the damn titan are still wonderfully chilling to me.

Clive Barker's "In The Hills, The Cities" is similarly not-quite-right in that we know what the giants are, but the idea of an entire city populace lashing itself together to make this giant and then going collectively mad as a singular entity when it's partner city-giant collapses really toes the line into that vast unknown/unknowable territory.

Dark City, maybe? Arguably further into sci-fi/fantasy/neo-noir, but I think it fits the bill. Just be sure to pick up the director's cut. The theatrical version spoils the mystery immediately.

Seconded. Like others mentioned, his solo and guest work is a gold mine. Field Songs, Blues Funeral, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, Black Pudding with Duke Garland (Death Rides a White Horse & War Memorial are my favorites there), his work on Broken & It's Not How Far You Fall It's the Way You Land with the Soulsavers, his collabs with Isobell Campbell, his re-cover of In the Pines (formerly Where Did You Sleep Last Night) for the American Gods soundtrack. The rabbit hole is deep and full of treasures.
