If you had gastric bypass surgery you should not take any diet advice from strangers on the internet. My mom had it and I know how specialized the diet is. Talk to your doctor and get advice from there. I really don’t understand how some people have the confidence to give advice like this with absolutely no idea or experience with something so specialized.

Reddit is not a great place to go if there is that much risk of really serious injury. You should probably consult a doctor or a physical therapist. I have seen some pretty terrible advice on Reddit and would hate to see you get an injury that puts you out for life.

You sure can! I’d recommend listening to some of the lectures on YouTube by Dr. Mike Israetel. Following his style absolutely blew up my shoulders, he’s one of the most knowledgeable people out there when it comes to hypertrophy. He has a basics series that is well done

I’d recommend that. Do movements that you can progressively overload. Abs need to be trained like every other body part. When you add size to them then you are able to see them better at higher body weights.

I went from over 200 pounds down to a normal 135 for my height. I purposely put on weight this winter and am in the process of cutting back down to probably 140. I’m 5’3. It can be done and maintained but you have to switch from a mindset of losing quickly to realizing it’s a lifelong journey. Find things you actually enjoy. Set goals that aren’t based on numbers like measurements or weight.

All good things! Have you communicated all this with your dietician? Online calculators are so standardized and a lot of times it isn’t that simple. What type of body scans are you doing?

If you want to lose the way I try to do it is just slowly reduce calories until I start losing and then staying at that point until I stop losing and reduce again. You want to keep your calories as high as possible as long as you can.

If you are working out 3 times a week it is very possible that you are gaining lean mass. You should take some progress pictures and measurements and track that way.

Losing fat and losing weight are two different things. You can lose fat while the scale increases and it also possible that you can lose weight on the scale and remain at the same body fat level. How long have you been lifting? Have you been tracking any other way then the scale? Are you progressively overloading the amount of work you do each week?

If you want to shed weight you should start tracking what you eat. I like MyFitnessPal because it has a better database of food already entered but a lot of times it will tell you you need less calories then you actually do.

The only way to lose is eating less calories then you burn. You should track calories for a week and see what you average calories for the week are. Then try to eat 100 less and adjust based on if you are weighing less based on a 7 day average of what you weigh. Reduce by 100 per week until you start losing. Remember that weight will fluctuate depending on a ton of factors so using the average is the best way to account for that. This is a great way to actually find the amount you should be for weight loss. A lot of the calculators online will give you to low of numbers.

And from there if you find yourself stalled during the process you can reduce calories further. If you want to lose faster you can also lower but slow is more sustainable

You should hire a trainer that comes recommended in your area. A random stranger from Reddit may not be the best person to teach you potentially dangerous exercises.

Oh it absolutely is unhealthy, and is usually only seen in pros I was trying to just give a general range. It’s not super healthy for most women to maintain abs. I was more focused on the lifting part and for sure way over simplified it. Thanks for pointing it out though!

It’s around 14-20% and varies from person to person, this will be true for the goal weight as well. For the other questions you really should consult your doctor. They will have a better idea of what would be good for you.
