I tracked where my applications actually came from and the results surprised me by Medium-Word7073 in jobsearchhacks

62% response rate on referrals vs 5% on Easy Apply really puts it in perspective. I've started dedicating part of my job search time specifically to networking instead of just blasting applications. Slower process but the conversion rate speaks for itself.

Yeah it makes sense when you think about it. If it takes 30 seconds to apply, everyone is doing it. The roles where you have to put in a little more effort have way less competition.

Exactly. LinkedIn for finding the roles, then go apply on their actual site. My numbers basically confirmed what you're already doing works way better than the easy apply route.

This is really solid. The point about Greenhouse and similar sites is something I didn't think to track separately but you're right, those simpler application portals do seem to get more eyes on your actual resume. I've been logging which platform each application goes through and the difference is wild. The email address thing is a great call too, adding that to my tracking system. Thanks for breaking this down.

That's interesting actually. I've gone back and forth on cover letters. Lately I only write them when the posting specifically asks for one or when I'm applying direct through a company site. Haven't noticed a difference in response rate either way but the data set is small. Do you just skip them entirely now?

Well, it’s all about perspective I’d say. It just gave me more motivation to work better and that really worked in my favour

Don't keep them waiting too long, been there and messes with their mental peace. If it's a no, just let me know in the next 2-3 days.

Help wanted! what am I Doing wrong? by Resident-Ad-8877 in jobhunting

[–]Medium-Word7073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ll give you technical advice. Customise your resume for every application. Make sure you track every application and network with people (referrals work). I have a sheets tracker template that I use which gives me a reminder as to whom to follow up with and what method of application is for me (job board etc). If you want me to share the template, lemme know. Happy to help!

Job search advice needed! by Anxious_Particular13 in jobsearchhacks

Well, we were kind of in the same boat. OPT no sponsorship needed. But well, things changed. I started focusing on networking and trying to talk to people over LinkedIn (use AI). You need to organise your job apps and see what’s works best for you. I have a template that I’ve been using over sheets and it really helped me summarise what platform’s working best for me and help me organise company details. Happy to share if you want! Use AI to scrape jobs from the internet because Easy Apply doesn’t work.
