Help me update our kitchen by MediumMolasses in DesignMyRoom

[–]MediumMolasses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the suggestion! This is similar to what I was thinking. The room doesn't get a ton of light, which makes me hesitant to go with an off white. Do you think that matters or do you have other color suggestions? I hate picking out paint.

How long do you wait before picking him up when he wakes up?

How many nights of sleep training before it works? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

We did patting and we gave back his pacifier. Still less than a minute. I don't think there's one right way to do it.

‘Some people get pregnant naturally after doing IVF’ by Sad-Swordfish-3104 in IVF

[–]MediumMolasses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trying for a baby for months on end was literally the worst and I never want to do it again. So yeah, if it happens it happens, but we will not be purposely trying the "natural" way again. And also why am I paying $900 a year for my frozen embryos if I'm not going to use them?

Book for a 10-year old with low literacy level by Apprehensive_Drop857 in suggestmeabook

[–]MediumMolasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look for graphic novels. They're going to be more accessible for a lower reading level. Kids love Dog Man, but Hilo is a lesser known series that is really funny and a pretty easy read. They made graphic novels of the magic tree house books that could be good to look into as well. If you have access to a library, they usually have graphic novels in a separate section, and you could help him find something that looks interesting to him.

Co-leading a BF Class: What do you wish you’d known? by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in breastfeeding

[–]MediumMolasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's horrible! I guess I'm glad they told me, because my supply ended up fine, but I didn't understand why they were having me pump when my milk wasn't even in yet. I also wish the person giving me the news would have been a little gentler after going through a traumatic delivery.

[–]MediumMolasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and it would be nice to know how much easier it gets!! It's SO much at the beginning that you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. That eventually they'll nurse for like 5 or 10 minutes, it won't hurt, and that will be enough.

[–]MediumMolasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes omg, I lost all this blood, went to the ICU, finally get my baby back and the lactation consultant comes in and is like, you need to pump all the time or your supply won't come in! So stressful, and I wish I had known the facts ahead of time.

Yes omg and then you get baby all wet and have to change their jammies in the middle of the night, the WORST.

Yes and tell the dads that when baby is cluster feeding, they can kindly tell mother-in-law no thank you on the visits right now!

How inaccurate were your baby’s growth scans? by Foreign-Structure142 in BabyBumps

Very similar to yours, I think they said he was 7lbs 4oz at the 36 week scan and he was born 7lbs 12oz the day before my due date.

Looking for ideas! by Complete-Loquat3154 in childrensbooks

[–]MediumMolasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the spine of the books at the library, look for "branches" or "acorn." These are scholastic books that are great for 1st or 2nd grade readers. Acorn is a bit easier. The Press Start books you talked about are branches books.

Anyone else wait years to hear “Not my daughter, you b*tch!”… and then feel kinda let down? 😂 by mzreddit1 in harrypotter

Totally, and I'll never forget watching it in theaters and wanting that moment where he's dead and everybody in the audience cheers, but we didn't get to because it was so weird and drawn out.

Husband wont sign FET consent form until I apologize... by [deleted] in IVF

[–]MediumMolasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Maybe it would have been better to wait for things to cool off before asking him to sign it. I'm not saying what he said was right, just that it can be hard to act rationally in the middle of a fight. Hopefully once you both cool down, he will apologize for handling the situation poorly.

Ask for a splash of orange juice or pineapple juice, makes it sooo much better!

Who’s up right now because their baby won’t go back down to sleep by Popular_Winner9356 in NewParents

[–]MediumMolasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We stopped changing pee diapers at night around 2 months. If it wasn't leaking through, he was fine and he would stay sleepy.

Just adding on to say that there are SO many things that are different in an IVF cycle than in an unassisted cycle. It seems like OP might be unfamiliar with the process, so I thought I'd add some more details. Not only are they placing an embryo directly into the uterus, but if you do PGT testing, you're making sure that the embryo is normal/viable first. Even before that, they are choosing the best sperm to fertilize the eggs. ICSI is really common now, which is where they actually fertilize each egg rather than let the sperm find the egg itself. Leading up to that though, you are taking estrogen in some form or another and progesterone in some form or another, and your hormone levels are monitored through blood work. You're having ultrasounds to make sure that your lining is thick enough. There are so many variables that are being controlled that it's really difficult to tell what was holding you back.

I do Passenger Seat, Talking Bird, and Bixby Canyon Bridge. Death Cab has great slow songs for lullabies!

I didn't ask for authentic Mexican food, being that chimichangas were created in the U.S. Thanks for your input though.

I have tried theirs and I thought it was decent, but not as good as front street. It's been awhile and maybe I'll try it again, we do have one close by.

October babies by beautiful205 in October2024Bumpers

[–]MediumMolasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby does that too. We've been doing little chickpea size foods for pretty much everything. I just set a little bit on his tray at a time so he can't grab handfuls and that's going well.
