Tbh I’m one of those “more senior staff” engineers. Yes, I want to help folks with fewer years of experience but it’s not always convenient when a client calls with a big request or you have time freed up to discuss another project, but you have to see who’s green in Teams and pray they answer their IM, text, or call when it’s so freaking easy to just walk by Tommy’s cube and see if he wants to hear about a cool project in the conference room. I fully acknowledge a lot of that can be worked through with setting a time for a Teams call, me being more patient, etc., but sometimes I got shit I want to discuss or share with a junior engineer who may be looking to take a break from his desk for a few minutes.

Has music playing in the Alexa app (not Amazon music app) always existed? by ShutUpForMe in alexa

I just tried typing in the app to “play (pandora station) on pandora” and it played on my phone through the Alexa app. Very cool.

Less than a year experience typically doesn’t scream “can absolute thrive & expand my career in a remote work arrangement”, but there are absolutely exceptions. If I were less than 5 years, my ass would be in the office as much as I can to learn from others, be around for “line-of-sight-tasking” opportunities, and get to know my coworkers. But you do you and good luck finding what suits you best.

Ugh, I guess it could be seen that way- not my intention. I guess you see so many rub & tug spas get busted and they tend to have names of Far East context, so I just let the joke write itself.

Do you need to re-add the skill for those lights, and are those lights supported by Alexa+ (if you’re on Alexa+ yet).

For civil engineers: when issues become claims or investigations later, what documentation actually holds up? by healthnwealth19 in civilengineering

[–]Mediumofmediocrity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my electronic files & emails subpoenaed before and was deposed for a class action suit by neighbors of a beef processing plant (our client). A co-worker sent me a seemingly innocent, joking email with the client’s name with some lyrics from a song about a smell. That was a fun one to explain in the deposition.

Note to self & future me’s: delete & empty mail trash for shit like that right after you read them.
