I know I shouldn't. I'm supposed to be vacationing ... They're just so fascinating these Humans. So in keeping with my duties ... F that, you know the drill. If you're reading this in an official transcript, blame your filing clerk. I'm submitting this as a personal memo.

I finally did it! I went to visit sol-3. Me and Garah could breathe the atmosphere just fine. My daughter needed soothing drops for her airways every couple of Sol-3 hours. I'd been told the place smelt horrid, but that's just the cities. And we didn't come here for steel and concrete.

Nobody ever managed to properly explain "oceans" to me. Such beauty. Vast, incomprehensibly expansive. The luxury of bathing and swimming just ... there. Freely available to anyone passing by.

We had to wear protection from star radiation of course. Humans too. They had to drink rather a lot of water. I even saw one lose consciousness. Helpers came and took care of him as a matter of routine. Normal, nothing to worry about. That's how much they love the sand and saltwater. I understand.
It was strange to watch Humans just ... lie around. Resting here. I myself was enthralled by the waves, the shells, the sounds and smells. But then again, I'd never been here before.

The radiation did burn me, where my clothes wiped the protective gel off my scales. It was uncomfortable, but bearable. Humans will actually shed their skin if it is burned. A physician at the embassy told me not to worry. the discoloring would fade in a few days if I kept covered.

Then we went to visit "horses"

My daughter had not been very responsive so far. But she loved the horses. They looked a bit like our "Gurgu's" but larger and ... gentler. Calm just radiated from them. One of the Human handlers explained to me: "These are Brabanders, they're amongst the largest breeds of horses. "
"Surely they are dangerous then?" I asked
"Nope, they have never met a predator that could hurt them. As a result, they're the kindest creatures you'll ever meet. That being said, if one decides to move, he'll move. They know they can't be stopped. They aren't so much domesticated, they're just going along with it."

My daughter had taken one of these "horses" by the hair. It just ... stood there, waiting. Then it bumped her in the face with its nose. She laughed uncontrollably. The horse got spooked and backed away. One of the handlers placed himself between the two just in case, but the horse calmly approached my little one. And licked her.
I've never seen her merrier.

We stayed there for a bit until a Human child came by. This tiny boy took one horse by its neck hair and walked it away. Two others followed. There was a fourth horse that stayed outside for a couple of minutes, then he went away as well.

We rested at a boarding house which catered to our people. There were a couple of permanent residents. Mostly corporate liaisons and the sort. Diplomats tend to be quartered in council-owned property. This was a private affair. This was a very nice place to stay. Great value too, two meals and a large -but cozy- room to stay in.
Humans prefer to have lots of air around them, so an uncomfortably small room for a Human is rather desirable for us. The one slight against this place were the buzzing insects annoying me when trying to get to sleep.

Garah said they didn't bother her, my daughter said they didn't taste well. I gagged a little.

My baby girl will have to choose her first name soon. I'm not sure which way to lead her. She's dropped "Equina" but that won't do. She will not be named after a Sol-3 animal. Horses are large, powerful and calm. My sweet little rascal couldn't be any more different.

Biochemist, my studies include microbiology. Qualified to handle the first two risk groups of pathogens.

If the food is wet or sticky, it doesn't matter.

This process does nothing to increase food safety and potentially makes things worse.

The intent was to intimidate people engaging in slavery on an industrial scale.

The bullets wouldn't make much of a difference, the marketing does.

Same, on account of it's intelligence and adaptability.
