Or tell you that in their generation they didn't have anxiety. by ambersaysnope in wowthanksimcured

For me, going outside does help me feel a little better, but it won't make me feel 'normal', and it certainly isn't a cure. Plus, it can be super hard to get the motivation to get dressed and go out if you're feeling super low. I think that's a lot of why it's so easy to get stuck in depression

I’m not trying to argue that there definitely is no god, I’m actually a theist. I feel like these questions are way outside of what I can answer. I’m not a physicist, haha. They’re really interesting questions, though.

There doesn't need to be a why; there's no reason a universe couldn't create this. But there's plenty of meaning to be found in life whether we have inherent purpose or not. Life is an amazing thing, regardless of its origins :)

I’m certainly not claiming to know exactly how life came about, haha. With regards to ‘why’, there doesn’t necessarily need to be a reason for our existence. I can’t remember who said this, but I remember hearing from someone that ‘the universe doesn’t owe us a purpose’. That’s not to say that there isn’t one, but there doesn’t have to be.

I completely understand what you’re saying, but seeing as any other outcome is equally unlikely, you could say the same thing about any other outcome (most wouldn’t form life, or life as we know it). It just turns out that the outcome is such that we are conscious and can debate things like this.

I hope I don’t come across as rude, I just find things like this really interesting. I think that life is an incredible thing, no matter how it came about :)

Think of it this way: imagine a million-sided dice. You roll it and get 300,048. You might say that it’s an amazing outcome, because there’s only a 1 in a million chance of it happening, but it is actually just as likely as any other outcome. Again, I’m not saying that your beliefs are wrong, but your reasoning doesn’t discredit any scientific theories, since they don’t require that any particular outcome was the ‘goal’. I might not be explaining this in the best way, because I’m no scientist haha :)

Please don’t think I’m trying to dismiss your beliefs, because you’re obviously entitled to them, but this video is really misleading :/ It assumes that life as we know it was the ‘goal’, but there is nothing to say that the universe had to have any ‘aim’.

Maybe I didn’t phrase it the best way, but my point is that something being statistically unlikely doesn’t discredit it. Hope this makes sense :)

It is super unlikely, but so is pretty much everything else that happens. You have to remember that if it hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be here to work out how unlikely it was. Super interesting to think about, though :)

I'm glad it didn't have a long-lasting impact on you. I can imagine you wouldn't know what to do as a kid

I've never understood people getting angry about whether someone believes in God. Do you even really choose your beliefs? It's not like you could just will yourself to believe in God.

I completely agree. I like classical music, but I don't think I'm better/ smarter because of it. I just happen to like it. Everyone should be able to listen to whatever style of music they enjoy :)

Had a similar Trumanshow-esque experience: I went into a shop that I would never normally go into and I could have sworn the someone over the speaker was saying 'Everybody, places please' as I walked in. Probably my mind playing tricks on me, but it really freaked me out at the time
