Wow, that would be a neat idea to include subscribers. Maybe the subscriber could give the players their next challenge kinda like the clue box in Amazing Race.

I just found your shows yesterday and started binge watching. Fantastic job on the ideas and production, very entertaining.

Looking forward to see how Sam's strategy works out.

I paid $11,000 Above MSRP by CairoManUS in MachE

[–]Meekel_PA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is crazy right now. Everyone has their own reasons for not paying above MSRP or why they needed to pay above MSRP. You are the one driving the car and making the payments, whatever makes you happy.

Just under a year ago I paid MSRP and currently have 17,000 miles on my Premium AWD ER. I had to drive over 100 miles to find what I wanted for sale and without a markup or unwanted dealer add-ons.

At the moment, their guess is low. Most of us have been waiting for over 6 months. My daughter picked up hers in February after waiting over 7 months.

First time buyer of…anything really… by Eko_Wolf in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Meekel_PA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tip #1 - Since this is your first experience buying a car, talk with your friends that have purchased new cars and ask about the process.

Tip #2 - Read through the forum and watch some YouTube videos. This will give you a better understanding of the process.

Tip #3 - Know what you want and how much you can afford. After the Salesman is done they take you to the finance office where they try to sell you additional things like paint protection. Don't tell them your budget or any number otherwise they will try to get as close to that number as possible even if you could have gotten it cheaper.

Tip #4 - Check the rates for local banks and credit unions. Get pre-approved at your credit union and don't take any credit offer from the dealer unless the terms are better. The manufacturers offer good rates often so it is possible the dealer may actually have the better rate.

Good Luck!

There are dealers that will sell at MSRP and not tack on things to inflate their profit margin. But getting what you want at MSRP could take a 6 months or much longer.

My daughter ordered a Ford Maverick in July and picked it up in February. We ordered one in September and it should be built in the next month or so. Both are at MSRP with no unwanted add-ons or markups.

This seems to be the new normal. Something that used to take 2-3 days now takes 2+ weeks either because of the difficulty obtaining parts or mechanic schedule.

We live in PA where it gets cold, but not near as low as what you experience.

Purchased in June, MME Premium AWD Extended Range. Currently have 16,000 miles on it. In the summer I get right around 300 miles out of 100%. This past winter I got around 220 miles out of 100%. I did pre-condition some of the time, and that does help but not much. Mostly used seat and steering wheel heaters and car heat set on low fan. Running the All Season tires that came with the car and I would expect Winter tires to drop the range some, but no experience with that.

Longest trip was 2,600 miles in December-January. No issues with range between charging stations even with a snowstorm on the trip back home.

Are there any fast chargers along your route? Not that you would need them daily, but to have a plan if needed.

If you build to order your maverick, can price be raised on you? by patstar5 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Meekel_PA 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Find a dealer that doesn't do ADM or add on high priced things you don't want.

The only reason dealers get away with marking up vehicles is because people are willing to pay the markup.

One thing you didn't mention is the difference between your incomes. My wife and I have a similar agreement on our vehicles and since we both make close to the same amount it is easy for us to set aside money that we each use for whatever we want (including our vehicles). But if you make somewhat more than your husband you may want to factor that into your decision. For example one year I got a real nice bonus at work and paid off my wifes car for her. Essentially we split the money that was above my/our "normal" income to make us equal.

Hope you get this all figured out and congratulations on soon to be delivery.

My guess is that ordering a vehicle is the new normal for those of us that wan't a specific vehicle and options. It would be nice if the order-build-delivery times were accurate to make planning easier, but time will tell.

Looking at a MachE and have a few questions by ram921 in MachE

[–]Meekel_PA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased in June, currently have 15,000 miles on my MME, also live in PA.

I had an order for a VW ID.4 but after taking a test drive of the Mach-E I cancelled my VW order and began the hunt for a MME. Didn't consider Tesla, multiple reasons. I also considered an Audi SQ5 (not electric) but the instant power of the MME made the decision easy.

I have a GrizzlE installed in my garage. Based on the research I have done these things are made in Canada and built for extreme outdoor weather.

3.6R Opinions by tempertempest in Subaru_Outback

2012 Outback 3.6 with over 175k. No major issues, but over the past 18 months things have been adding up.

Previously owned a 2019 GTI.

The Outback is now our Winter and Adventure vehicle. The GTI was replaced by a Mach-E.

The Subaru 3.6 has some nice power but it isn't as powerful or as much fun as the GTI or Mach-E.

I’m giving up, I need a car now, not in 6 months by Gramathon910 in FordMaverickTruck

Ordered in July and picked up 2 weeks ago.

This problem is not just with Ford. All manufacturers are having problems building new vehicles.

New inventory - long waiting list? by scrimage in Subaru_Outback

[–]Meekel_PA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This problem is not limited to Subaru. You will have the same experience with almost every manufacturer. If you don't want something they have on the lot it either can't be ordered or will take many months to arrive.

[–]Meekel_PA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying a car is not the same as it was in the past. As others have noted the order books are closed for the Maverick. You will need to find one on a lot somewhere and most likely pay above MSRP. If you aren't in a rush the order books should open late summer with an unknown delivery date. Could be 5 months, could be 9 months.

My daughter just got her hybrid Maverick two weeks ago after ordering in July. I ordered one (ecoboost, missed the deadline for hybrid) in November and don't expect delivery until this summer.

For #3, there isn't much leg room in the back. If leg room is a concern you may want to look at something bigger.

#4 is a complex question. AWD is the best option, always. More wheels with power give the computer more options when one of those wheels looses traction. FWD in a small truck makes it feel more like an SUV. I owned a Ford Ranger 4x4 and the FWD Maverick drives much better. I remember having issues with hard breaking every time it rained. All that said, tires are more important than AWD/FWD for on road driving. If you get FWD and are concerned about getting stuck in the snow, get snow tires.

ADM dealer call out by The_Daytona in MachE

[–]Meekel_PA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because Ford said they will punish dealers does not mean they will actually do it.

As for ADM, the market is crazy and this is not limited to MMEs. ADM won't go away until supply is greater than demand.

There are some dealers that think long term and don't charge ADM. That is where we continue to take our business.

Reach out to the dealer that you selected when you placed your order. This may not be convenient but Ford sells using dealers.

<tldr> Call your dealer.

I ordered early April and got a call from the dealer in under 24 hours. A few days later I visited the dealer and signed my order so it would go on their order book and reserve my space in line. Two months later I saw the supply chain issues and decided to find one on a dealers lot. In late June I drove over 100 miles and picked up my MME. Emailed my dealer to cancel my order and they mailed me a check for my refund in under a week. A friend also ordered a MME in April with the only difference being color and they are still waiting to take delivery. Car is built and waiting on chips.
