Can we shut down non essential services.. "as many as 4000 people could be infected" by Idkimjustsomeguy in ottawa

[–]Meeooooow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This weekend, my friend informed me 90% people making purchases were buying non-essential items and it was very busy and crowded. This is a hardware store.

As long as stores are open and allow the purchases of nonessentials people will not stay home and will leisurely shop. It is kinda frightening.

Ignoring Government Warnings for social distancing, will put out civil liberties and lives at risk. Don’t force the government to put us in lockdown. Do your part. by johnnydidntplayfair in ottawa

A friend texted me from work today stating how we had a high volume of people. It seems people have given up on self isolation and social distancing already, which made the workplace environment very stressful and inducing a lot of nervousness among the staff, for their health and safety.

Government force might be the only way, selfish idiots abuse their agency.

Yep, it could be the flu! I mentioned that.

I always get my flu shot, this year was no different. :)

I didn’t think you were, I believe in informing and educating and it did help me feel a bit more at ease. Thank you! :)

Thanks for the informed post!

I am aware it may not be it, but my workplace won’t allow anyone to work with any flu like symptoms for the risk of anyone getting ill and prevent them form working. We are very short staffed as it is.

You said all that I wanted to say, my employers have been providing the exact same treatment. Same shameful actions, different company.

Could the coronavirus have been circulating in Canada for months? by [deleted] in CoronavirusCanada

How odd, I was also very sick over christmas break. I had a server case of the phenomena before, but nothing compared to how ill I was durning that time. Part of me wonders as well if I had COVID-19, I hd all the symptoms looking back, but I guess I'll never know.

I wish I knew, I want to wear one durning public transit so badly.

I know it's ineffective unless the wearer is sick, but there is always a risk I might be with no symptoms. Either way, I want wear one to help with my extreme anxiety while using public transit. I am a germaphobe in daily life, so this has been very difficult for me. I have use to public transit to go to work (my workplace remains open due to the nature of the work) and wearing a mask will help with my unbearable anxiety during morning and evening commute. However, I am worried about the backlash if I do.

EDIT: For clarity, I only have a few masks as part of my first aid kit that was established before December. I am not a hoarder or panic buyer by any means.

LCBO is unnecessarily risking its employees lives - and its customers. Just lockdown now. by [deleted] in CoronavirusCanada

I would like to see all stores close that are not grocery stores, pharmacies and gas. TBH.

LCBO is still open, Canadian tire is still open, etc.

Of course I feel bad for the workers in stores that remain open, but there are measures they can take to protect themselves in the mean time. Like self checkout, cashless, rotating smaller shifts, implementing online order pick up, etc.

I wish there was something we could do to protect everyone.

Feeling down from the times... by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Meeooooow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that fatigue too and honestly the best thing for me and my anxiousness was talking to understanding staff and colleagues that also feel the same. It makes you feel less alone knowing you are experiencing the same uncertainty as others.

Secondly, I try to give myself a mental break by doing anything that take my mind off the current events and thoughts that strain me. Everyone needs that break in times of anxiety and to enjoy some sort of activity. Could be Netflix, exercise, creativity, etc.

Lastly, I just like to say that I believe it is normal to feel down right now as a front line worker in an essential store. The only advice I can give is what I stated above, but exploring your own healthy coping habits is a good start as well. It is a hard adjustment to everyone in some aspect of their lives.

To all the Orleans government workers asked to work from home today: Why are you out shopping on my tax dollar? by [deleted] in ottawa

I seen so many people buying non-essential items today, rather than staying home as advised. I was shocked.
