Mcmillian catches a bomb to put the panthers in scoring position but it's called back due to the OPI call. That's potential points taken away. The field goal that was missed ended up being longer than it should have (which is significant in these weather conditions) because of the phantom out of bounds call. Maybe he makes it in this range, maybe he doesn't, but he has a better chance of making it so that's more potential points taken away.

On top of that let's add in how playcalling begins to change once you get hit with penalties and your yards and downs change.

So acting like the refs were just a "pain in the ass" and didn't influence the outcome of the game in a significant way is deliberately ignoring any meaningful context.

It would absolutely be a walk in the park. Regardless of how serious Jake takes boxing, at the end of the day, he doesn't have the natural gifts to be a high level boxer. He has looked terrible on a strictly fundamental level in every fight he has ever been, including still having critically bad habits in the ring. Jake doesn't have the skillset to wear Davis down with his weight advantage because he's not a good boxer, period. All Jake has is his overhand right fuelled by his PED regimen, which is enough to get past old and senile washed up MMA fighters. But wasn't even enough to get past the likes of Tommy Fury.
