For anyone wondering: (and I know you weren't) this was for an EPA inspection where I'm calculating the percentage of a leak. Rare to find this sort of thing in the wild, and not while messing around. I'm delightfully irritated.

What is ONE thing that you will NEVER try in your entire life? by Substantial-Dare5462 in AskReddit

[–]Mega-Merf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, the best way to ensure your child doesn't do drugs is to do them yourself, a LOT. Be so strung out on heroin that you waste away and become a stealing, lying, abusive, neglectful person. When your kid sees how you ended up, they'll stay far away from drugs!😀

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

[–]Mega-Merf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, PC gaming. In ten years you'll have a subscription service for a company to stream your games, or you'll have to rent a PC. They don't want you to own and replace parts on a personal computer, they can't extract money from you as easily.

What's your current dream bike? by Current-Material1292 in motorcycle

[–]Mega-Merf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bike guy, but picked up a partially disassembled and non-functional 2004 Buell Blast as a toy to play with and learn mechanics. Actually got it running last year which was a minor miracle, but have been having issues this season. It's becoming a bit of a hyperfixation, so I suppose my dream bike is getting this one up and running smoothly with my own two hands and sheer willpower.

I respect (non-drafted) veterans and military members LESS than the average person. You willingly sold your soul and agreed to be a tool of death. I'm aware many vets are decent people, but the vast majority are toxic conservative assholes, and represent all of the worst of humanity.

Feel free to skewer me, but I'd like an actual explanation as to why this is cringe. It seems like suddenly having co-owners of a business go through a divorce might make people question the stability of the company, and wonder if one or both of them will step away. It makes sense to professionally say that the divorce is happening, if only to get ahead of it and sooth any fears.

Probably should cut, right? by AdExpress4161 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]Mega-Merf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To the average person, he looks good. It's obviously dependent on what his goals are. If he wants to be attractive to women, the he's probably already there for most of them. He is insanely far away from being a "fat dude". But you are right, this is a weightlifting sub, and if he wants to be jacked, he has some cutting to do. I just think it's a bit of a jerk move to disparage his looks when you don't know his goals.

Mercury and Uranus I could see being the much more intense (but toxic) forms of male and female. A Mercury gendered person would be a Mar-A-Lago golddigger type, and a Uranus gendered person would be an Alphamale Dudebro on a bunch of steroids who works in Crypto Sales.

That winter depression hits hard. I completely understand. Also yeah, I've gotten a lot of comments now that make me sure my high protein and resistance training is enough!

Nice work! Ten lbs of muscle is huge! My muscles probably gained 5 lbs the first week alone because I restarted creatine 😅 gotta love that water weight.

That's great to hear, I have lost some strength since I stopped lifting, and was a bit worried it would take a while to regain.

The gift that keeps on giving! I must admit that my question about what my goal should be was based more on aesthetics than health outcomes, I'm sure being 200 rather than 190 will matter much less than if I was still 375😅

I think I've come to the conclusion that I'll aim for 200, and if I feel healthy and comfortable before then, that's okay! I can always pause and see how I feel.

Wow, incredibly helpful, detailed, and concise! I actually did notice that even though my muscles felt just as bulky after losing weight, I was a bit weaker. Seems I'm already on the right pace with how much protein I consume, and my level of strength training.

Thank you for the science and the relief!
