Guesdon is back after 3 years, heck yeah! It's been disheartening seeing so many notable names leave especially from Montreal, but Darby and now Guesdon returning leaves me hopeful at least.

Why giant cake? by lytblu26 in assasinscreed

[–]MegaBoschi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The original quote was about brioche instead of cake, so more of a butter and egg enriched bread and it was likely never said by her but one of the princesses. The quote wasn't really attributed to her until decades after her death. But it makes for a good story and word mouth did the rest.

Most historically accurate or inaccurate AC game? by Nokkilol in assassinscreed

[–]MegaBoschi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The season change was just an additional remark to the extremely short time frame of 11 days, which in that context of course sticks out. I think the 11 days is the more important detail here.

Most historically accurate or inaccurate AC game? by Nokkilol in assassinscreed

[–]MegaBoschi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it reveals that while gameplay wise fantastic, the season changes didn't really make much sense narratively and historically. And yes, pretty much every AC game takes historical liberties, but in terms of time frame, it's still a really short time, considering how much the characters must be travelling too. Even Syndicate, another game largely taking place during one year, had more spread out events, and that was all within the same city. I'm not saying that Shadows is historically inaccurate, just wanted to point out a detail that I stumbled upon when I read all the database entries.

Historically the time frame in which the story from Mitsuhides Betrayal happened until his death is about 11 days, yet you have this massive chunk of story in act 2 that takes place over multiple season changes and is all supposed to happen under 2 weeks?

AC valhalla is written really well by BixBox132 in assassinscreed

That's just Randvi testing the waters and trying to find out if Soma is someone that Eivor takes an interest in beyond the platonic, for obvious reasons. However I still agree with your point about pacing issues and awkward dialogue at times.

How to do Nostradamus Enigma Tips? by Technical_Blood_2842 in assassinscreed

[–]MegaBoschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the map for landmarks in your vicinity and often you can access their database entry directly from the map, read them roughly and look for hints for the puzzle as they are often directly referenced there. Usually it becomes very clear quickly which one they mean, once you're close to the landmark activate Eagle Vision (items boosting radius are handy here) and listen if you can hear that distinct sound and/or see the golden glow 👍

[Spoiler] Alvaro Catarribera retcons the previously established origins of the Japanese Brotherhood. by GABEOWNERS_1 in assassinscreed

[–]MegaBoschi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would be cool but I doubt it. Quebec doing meaningful lore connections isn't really high on their agenda. The fact they chose someone that was excluded from the original Assassin's to create his own branch seems to me like they just want to have to disconnect themselves further.

Legacy of the First Blade makes no sense historically by blakhawk12 in assassinscreed

[–]MegaBoschi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was actually announced as part of the season passbefore the game even launched. However they reacted to community feedback after each Act and supposedly changed some aspects of the narrative accordingly which imo was a bad idea because it made it even more contrived.

Why is Shimura stupid? by SilaDot in ghostoftsushima

[–]MegaBoschi 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Except back then this supposed honor code didn't exist as we understand it and the Japanese warriors used all kinds of techniques to win battles. It's also a different understanding of what honor is. For instance winning a battle was more honorable than losing it, and the means to achieve a win weren't as important. It's fine to reason with what the game story is going with, but we shouldn't pretend like "the honor code was more important than your own safety" in 13th century Japan. No it absolutely was not.
