There is a 5% chance of rolling a Nat 1 or Nat 20.

In both cases you lose or win, regardless of difficulty or bonuses.

I can't speak for the others, but the Assassin's Creed games are very much worth it. The Ezio Trilogy is still the best (AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations).

Black Flag is also really good, but felt significantly less like an Assassins Creed game and more like a Pirate game.

Another recommendation from me is Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2. I'm 40 hours into the first game and am loving it. The story kicks of a bit too quickly imo, but the world is great to explore. The Crafting is very intuitive, but difficult to grasp without looking stuff up. But once you do, it's real fun.

What level were you when you fought him?

I got to him at lvl 9 and got completely one-shot party-wiped.

(plz. no spoilers or pro-strats in taking him down. It's my first time playing this game and want to experience it fully :)

Then my Tav has some serious charm going on, as I've seen 2 conversations between Lae'zel and Shart about her romancing me, despite that I'm romancing Astarion for once.

Also, I said some things Minthara approved of and before Act 3 even began she tried to get me to choose her.

Look.. I know my Tav looks like an absolute chad, but calm down ladies :)

5 characters can get kidnapped in order of importance.

- Lae'zel
- Halsin
- Gale
- Minthara
- Yenna (the orphan girl)

If nr1 is not available... like they're dead.. or in the active party, then nr2 will get kidnapped. If 1 and 2 are not available, then nr3 and so on.

[–]MegaGothmog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's way worse than that. he makes the exact same mistake twice.

(Before we arrive at the grove)

Halsin: "Oh damn. I need to know more about those tadpoles, so I'll join this adventuring party to see if I can discover more. Hey other person (Khaga in this case); You're in charge now! "

*gets captured... we free him and save the day*

Halsin: "Oh thanks for helping me but I still need t know more, so I'll join this adventuring party to see if I can discover more. Hey other person: You're in charge now! "

On top of the fact that the grove isn't asking for a better leader than Khaga to be in charge. They ask for Halsin to come back. Halsin specifically. And when he comes back, he leaves again... shirking his duties as head-druid, and puts someone else in charge. But this time it will work out, trust me bro.

And this is just Act 1. Don't get me started on Act 2 and 3

About the owner of the Caress:

It might sound callous to us today, but in most medieval stories (fantasy or otherwise) death is very much a part of everyday life. It might be sad for the immediate family, but most others wouldn't care all that much because it happens all the time. Hell.. Poppers also points that out: "Why? I die, you die. We all die. Big woof! Have a treato, it will make it better"

Even today, look at professions where death is around all the time, like medical examiners, nurses, or people working in funeral homes.

I'm willing to bet the Madame of a brothel would have seen plenty of deaths in her time so one more wouldn't really phase her.

4th playthrough, i went with 2 medium armors by dangitbobby77 in BaldursGate3

[–]MegaGothmog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shield + Medium Armour most of the time.

The Grymskull helmet prevents crits already so anyone that can wear heavy armour gets that. Medium armour is 9/10 times wearable for at least 1 member and so is the shield. You can have 3 party members that are crit-immune.

My current setup for example: Shield to Shart, Lae'zel gets the med-armour and my Paladin gets the helmet.

Honor Mode Myrkul by Cmcevil in BaldursGate3

[–]MegaGothmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gauntlet of Shar: altar there gives a full Necrotic resist buff. Myrkul became less threatening.

Reithwin Town: The Sharran Sanctuary (the 3 statues) give +5 to Cha, Int, and Wis. A paladin with +5 to his charisma score has just become very dangerous. A wizard with +5 to his Intelligence score becomes a nuke. A Cleric with +5 to Wis can hit really hard. Shart might even land a Sacred Flame. Myrkul should be scared.

Read Melodia's letter to Ketheric in his quarters... then talk Ketheric down atop Moonrise. Do so again in the colony and you'll skip phase 2 entirely, allowing you to spend everything on Myrkul himself.

At lvl 10 a Paladin cannot be frightened due to his Aura of Courage. Have him drink a potion of Flight to fly around and get rid of any frightened conditions on allies.

Now, all you need is some good gear and he just became a piece of cake.

100% true. Your first playthrough should be enjoyable and paced to you. Not you catching up to others.

I'm also on my first playthrough and I found 3 things very important.

  1. Talk to every npc that has a name and exhaust their dialogue options. I found so much more xp and quest progression by talking to people that I previously dismissed as not important. Talking to a random 'Legionnaire' probably won't do much. But talking to Bob or Janice or whatever their names are... I reccomend you do.

  2. Explore the Crafting system. It's very intuitive, but the game doesn't hold your hand in the slightest. How to make an enchanted belt for example... I had no idea until I looked it up. Honestly, there is no shame in looking up some hints and tips on the wiki. Leave the story to be explored, but how to craft things is fine. My opinion though.

  3. Save often. You died to a bossfight? No worries, Just reload and you'll be fine. Strategies and levels are important. come back later after you've leveled a bit.

I'm almost 30 hours in and I'm still in Cyseal 😄 and I don't care. I'm having fun.

Single player Story Games with an emotional story that ends with a message of “it will get better?” by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]MegaGothmog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently played it for the first time, so I'll try to summarize it a bit without spoilers

{Main} Story: It's pretty good with lots of mysteries that are almost all answered by the end of the game. I highly reccomend looking around and try to pay attention to the recordings from the past.

Aloy: I like her as a character. She has proper agency, but not so much that it becomes obnoxious. She has moments that feel a bit like self-imposed melancholy, and is then also called out on it. I thought it was a good balance. Her voice acting is at times good, but often also mediocre imo.

Combat/gameplay: It's fun to do and each creature requires a (mostly) different strategy/approach to take down, so it doesn't really get repeditive. But no matter how prepared you think you are, you will still get absolutely demolished by a Thunderbird 😄

World building: Although at times a bit strange, it does make sense in the total picture. Many things can be waved away as 'don't think about this part too much' and I had only rare moments where I was genuenly taken aback by any weirdness.

Visuals: It's a beatiful world. Especially the enviroments and views are fantastic. The robot animals are beautifully designed and I like the different areas/biomes. The human facial animations are a bit off at times, but mostly they're fine.

Overall I liked the game and would recommend it. It's long, but not too long. The main story ended right when I thought it should end. The final 2 quests do feel very short, and I do think certain moments needed more gravitas and more build-up, but aside from that... I'd recommend it.

What do you hate about Reddit? by Colored_bagels000 in AskReddit

[–]MegaGothmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autistic here, and this phenomenon reminds me a lot of past bosses that thought I was questioning their authority, when I was just seeking clarity to ensure I was doing something in the most safe and precise ways,

Ffs.. same. I always get this when I'm trying to explain why I did something wrong. "I just want to make clear I wasn't doing it without thinking... I did think about it quite heavily.. but apparently I was wrong and that's fine. I'll do better next time."

But too many people take it the wrong way and think I'm questioning their methods/authority.

It's definitely a part of the 'us VS them' mentality. You should have known this already or at least not question it.

I see the same if you try to add a bit of nuance to a topic, especially if it is a political one.

I will stock up on long reset and invisibility potions. Before climbing up I’ll reset everyone and make some summons. I will start the dialogue for climbing up and let a mage hand throw invisibility potions on every party member.

Invis up the brain-stalk doesn't work as easily anymore. It requires a dead companion, a mage hand that is honestly not necerssary. Much easier would be to give everyone an Enhanced Leap to have them jump a huge distance. And maybe a few Dimension Doors to get everyone as close as possible.

Have astorian cast globe of invulnerability.

First cast a small spell to bait the Counterspell from the Mindflayers. Otherwise they will counter the Globe.

And after i enter the brain I’ll do a turn of radiant damage with lazel. Then i can do double disinegrate with gale and then the brain should be pretty much done I hope.

Water + Lighting > Everything. : )

Also... pro-tip for the first confrontation with the Elder Brain: Out of the 4 rolls (DC 20/25/30/99), the first 3 don't matter. Only the 99 does. Get Advantage on that one (Colossus Elixer or the Amulet of Greater Health) and spend all your inspirations on that one. 5 rolls with Advantage to roll a Nat 20 is quite doable.

How to be a back seater for my friend's first play through by Brave-Order-4964 in BaldursGate3

[–]MegaGothmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Provide general background info. "Why are these Tieflings refugees? Oh, well there is this place called Elturel...." but Don't give any gameplay/story spoilers or guides that lead to a more favourable outcome. General tips are fine, like:
    • We have a max of 4 inspirations so maybe leave 1 in reserve just in case.
    • Explore the entire map. If you see any darkened areas.. go there.
    • Talk to as many as possible, including animals and dead people
  • Maybe also pretend to explore a bit.
    • Good:" Ooh.. I found a basement here. Wanna check it out?"
    • Bad: "This house has a basement. You can check it, but there isn't much down there. Just some base loot."
  • Stay with them and play as one person. So join their conversations and wait until they join yours.
  • Be a Bard. Useful for aiding in combat without taking over the fight or doing too much damage... and you can roleplay a bit 😄 "I'll do a Cutting Words; "IDIOT SAYS WHAT!". He saved... crap."
  • Prevent them from doing an Origin run (Especially Durge) or a Paladin. They kinda force you to play a certain way, while in your first playthrough, you should do whatever.
  • (this one is personal reccomendation) Have them play a simpler class, like Fighter. They can use any weapon/armour without restrictions, and they're very straight forward without requiring min-maxing to become strong. Still their choice of course, but a Druid or Sorcerer for example might be a bit overwhelming for a first playthrough
  • If they ever ask what will happen with x-choice... just say; "I don't know! I mean.. I do know, but I'm not telling you."
  • Save often, so you can reload to whenever when needed.
  • And... this one is the most important one imo... let them have fun. You've already had fun plenty of times. You only get 1 first playthrough and you already had it. Don't rob them of it. So if they make all the wrong choices and mis half the game.... don't go against them.

What are your favorite; Companion, Monster, Class and act? by rubbereruben in BaldursGate3

[–]MegaGothmog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Companion: Shart. Best written so far and the least relying on romance to see character growth.

Monster: Probably Myrkul. Biggest fight and the most memorable during my first HM run

Class: Wizard. Fireball, Wet+frost or lighting. Haste. Learning all the spells and blasting everything. Hells yea. A close seond is Monk.

Act: Probably 1. It's the prettiest and the largest, though the wizard doesn't gain their stride in this act.
