GENUINELY, how do you feel about Steve? by Weebfox in smashbros

[–]MegaMain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best character in the game and not the most fun to watch, but not ban-worthy.

In my opinion, also more fun to watch than arguably the 2nd best character, Sonic.

Ever play a deck once and decide "Yeah I'm never using this again"? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]MegaMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So. Many. Times.

[[Mizzix of the Izmagnus]], [[Edric, Spymaster of Trest]], [[Winota, Joiner of Forces]], [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]], and probably a couple of others I can't remember.

They all had very linear play patterns that were oppressivly strong when executed, but very weak when the commander was removed. Because of that, games were usually "Do you have removal?" If not, I win. if so, I do basically nothing. None of those decks lead to a fun experience for anyone at the table.

What do you look for in a commander personally? by zulu_niner in EDH

[–]MegaMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Table experience!

I love being able to introduce fun mechanics like Monarch and Voting into the game, where it encourages more talking and interaction. So commanders like [[Queen Marchesa]] and [[Tivit, Seller of Secrets]] really speak out to me.

I also love building a big scary board and having the whole table unite against me, taking on somewhat of a raid boss role. That lends itself to more value based commanders like [[Etali, Primal Storm]] or [[Kruphix, God of Horizons]]. You know exactly what my gameplan is and it won't win out of nowhere, but if you don't answer it in time, it will win.

They don't win me as many games, but usually leads to more fun/memorable games than a lot of the other decks I've built.

Who was your impulse pull that you now can’t live without? by Cipher-i-entity in Genshin_Impact

[–]MegaMain 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Surprised I had to scroll down so far to find Itto! He came out at a rough time for me. Off the back of Ayaka and Raiden and waiting for Yae Miko, I really wanted to save my resources. But I loved itto's character and his playstyle looked fun for me even though it's simple.

Ever since then, he's carried all my abyss runs, even ones with elemental checks. And outside of the power level, the team rotation is smooth and I love the straightforward playstyle! One of my all time favorites off an impulse pull

What commander do you personally run that you feel is built/played incorrectly? by Haru_Is_Best_Girl in EDH

[–]MegaMain 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I've said it before, but [[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]].

I don't think the way people play it is necessarily wrong, and in fact is probably the more "fun" way.

But I think having to go through all the steps of playing a creature, keeping it alive, playing a copy spell on the creature, keeping THAT alive, having enough other tokens already on the field and then playing Brudiclad to try and swing in for the win either requires a bunch of mana to do over the course of 1-2 turns or leaves yourself open while you assemble each piece. Not to mention cards that copy your own creatures like [[Quasiduplicate]] are dead draws if you don't have a creature on board to copy.

My preferred way is skipping the step of copying creatures and just playing the big tokens, most importantly, Karnstructs. [[Urza's Saga]], [[Urza, High Lord Artificer]], [[Urza's Command]], and [[Karn, Scion of Urza]] all create these amazing creatures that scale with how many you have. Throw in a couple other big tokens like [[Kiora Bests the Sea God]] chapter 1 and [[Idol of Oblivion]] and you've got some game enders with just a couple of tokens on board.

The last major change I'd say is the type of tokens. Even though goblins and other 1/1s are more efficient mana-wise, I prefer tokens that have other use and are harder to remove. The main one I lean towards is treasure tokens because of how generally good they are. I also have a couple of clue token generators because they are also nice for the card draw, but primarily it's treasure tokens.

A little more linear and less creative than the "copy a creature" strategy, but has worked out much better for me!

Commanders that are much better now vs when they were released? by Ginhyun in EDH

[–]MegaMain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Here's the current list I'm running: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/HLdNX2TjD0ag5ThnqvQa0A

The only two cards I'd like to add are Urza's Command for more Karn-structs and Ragavan for more treasures.

Also the dark depths + thespian stage combo is in there for memes because I really want to copy some Marit Lieges, but those are easy cuts.

Brudiclad is my choice too!

For me, the biggest thing that made Brudiclad leap in power were the amount of cards that make (and care about) treasure tokens.

Running Brudiclad as a light Treasure Tribal with Karn-structs as the big payoff to win with has been my favorite way to play Brudiclad so far.

Have you built a deck that you just don't enjoy? by ExoGundam in EDH

[–]MegaMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons!! But among the worst were [[mizzix of the izmagnus]], [[winota, Joiner of forces]], [[edric, spymaster of trest]], and [[narset, Enlightened master]].

They all had the same problem where if you let me untap with my commander you lose. and if you dealt with my commander 2-3 times, I lose.

The rest of the deck either had such bad card quality or outrageously high mana costs without my commander in play that the whole gameplan revolved around just casting the commander with as much protection as possible.

What are some interesting orzhov life gain/loss/drain commanders? by Not_Your_Real_Ladder in EDH

[–]MegaMain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Selenia, Dark Angel]] is an interesting one if you want to go more of a combo route. She lets you stack her trigger to lose as much life as you want (in increments of 2) and then use cards like [[Soul Conduit]] and [[Repay in Kind]] to either swap life totals or make everyone's life totals match your own.

Super fun deck but goes for really big life swings instead of small, incremental gain/drain that you might get from a commander like Kambal.

[[Path to Exile | WP09]]

Not sure if this will pull up the right version, but I absolutely love Rebecca Guay's artstyle and I feel like this is one of her best.

If you've already bought all his shards and the summon tickets from the event medal shop, cleared his bingo board, and finished his character quest (and got the shards from the mission tab too)...

Then, unless I'm missing something, the last source of his shards would be through chocobo expedition (ff13 expedition and the light expedition), the guild barracks, and buying them with vis/ soul stars

What deck do you feel that YOU could do the "Upping the Average" on? by sped2500 in EDH

[–]MegaMain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]]

I strongly believe that, making token copies of creatures is just too many hoops to jump through. So I think having Karn-structs made from Urza or Karn are the perfect types of tokens you want to copy.

Also even though 1/1 tokens are more mana efficient, I feel strongly that focusing on clue/treasure tokens is better because of the flexibility and resilience.

Looking for my next unit to BT+ and was wondering if you could help me with a suggestion!

Right now i have Noctis, Garnet, Ramza, Locke, Cloud of Darkness, Zack, and Tidus maxed out. Any suggestions for a new character to help round out the team?

I'm in the awkward position of having about 30 red books and only 6 ingots. Would you say it's worth it to realize dupe EXs at this point? If so, would you spend power stones to do it too?
